  1. and more
  2. Google is the bane of ignorance...
  3. Have a look at this world wide map of a typical Saturday on Strava. http://www.strava.com/saturday-heatmap#0|8|9|-25.95759|27.99364 Looks like it shows 1 hour segments. I picked 8am to 9am and zoomed to Gauteng
  4. Planning to do a long ride of just over 120km,on Saturday with Ossie NL. We are not starting from Broadacres, nor at 07:00. It will go past the Lab, and we will ride ALL of the Cradle (some sections twice as links)
  5. I am questioning intent
  6. At 62 he most probably took the stuff to improve health / quality of life. Much like what that doc in Bryanston is doing for people. Also at 62 I doubt he is concerned with the ban, he most probably got carriwd away with the added youth he found with the additives.
  7. Point are not much of a problem to get. Despite having a BMI > 25 and blood pressure > 120/80 I still make my points to maintain Diamond status every year. Might have an issue next year when they do not allow carry over anymore though. Guess I'll just have to upload the Garmin stuff religiously then.... and go visit the dietician for the extra 5K points. Am expecting to get off Discovery end of 2014 though. Only have life insurance with them, and can get it much cheaper through work - in addition to our group life scheme. Not going to forgo the > R20K paypack from Discovery though, so I'll play the patience game for a few months more

  10. I have an Edge 800 and never looks at the maps while riding. I'd much rather watch the scenery and/or terrain!
  11. Keen on NF for Sunday morning. Not that fast on the flats and downs due to gearing restrictrions. Not a noob / dead slow though. Keen to join up wirh a group.
  12. Thw sciwntific benefit / value/ accuracy of VO2 has been questioned by scientist(s). Too lazy to google now
  13. Alternative starting venue can be the Boskruin Shopping Centre. There is an active running group leaving Tue-Fri at 5am as well as a security control post in the parking area (The runners park close to it in front of the garage). Also a crossfit group starting at a gym there around 5am
  14. I'm keen to start something regular at a fixed time every day. Problem for me is that I have to be back at home (Boskruin) by 6am. Going out to the E2E route will only take one away from home. For me to be safe time-wise on a 40km ride I'll have to start at about 4:30 in the mornings. Was thinking to create a loop / loops more in the general vicinity as there are plenty of multi lane / yellowed laned roads. Even using Witkoppen/Christiaan de Wet, Hendrik Potgieter or going out on Malibongwe, going onto the R114 onto Beyers via marina road should be fine early in the mornings (<6am). Thing is to make the routes fixed so that if mechanicals / worse happen, partners / friends will know where to go look if we use different routes on different days (Route 1 on Tue, Route 2 on Wed, etc), much like the ICG crowd is doing and unlike the E2E reasonably static loop, which can become boring after a while. We can use the garage on the corner of Rabie and Ysterhout as a start venue. Sounds good!
  15. I don't do bucket lists per se, but I plan on using Marina Road as an alternative to Beyers Naude
  16. Rhino & Lion Park. Nexk & Deck Restaurant camp visible from the main road. 23. #moermekaar ... @Matt: We need a tag cloud thingy for #thehubsa. I'd love to see the size of the #moermekaar one at the end of 2014 ....
  24. Read the articles again. world wide patent (yeah, that includes Canada, despite them not explicitly having registered the trademark - however they have used it in Canada so they have right of use....) FACT: I am going to bed and leaving this brouhaha to turn into a I AM RIGHT / YOU ARE WRONG hub fight. NOTE: The people involved in this dispute resolved their issue
