  1. K2C is like the Argus version of offroad races. Technical only for the first 20 km and the rest is on very good gravel roads. I've have not done the THB race, but have ridden in that area and can say this ride is much harder, but very enjoyable. Like Scubarra said, do both.
  2. I thought smokers were on the decline, but just lately it seems every second person in traffic is smoking.
  3. Time in the saddle!
  4. Taken in Brakpan at a robot
  5. There is something called "strict liability" where the owner of a business is liable for the damage caused by one of his employees in performing his duties. So if the employee caused the damage, the employer will be liable for damages. This is found in both civil and criminal law.
  6. Very quick. Placed on order on Friday the 9th of November at 21:00 and received my parcell on Wednesday morning of the 14th. The trick is to opt for DHL Express and to do the EFT for the duties & VAT as soon as you get the email from DHL.
  7. Go to YouTube and search "the honeybadger don't give a sh$t". The funniest wildlife "documentary" I've ever seen
  8. Last year 347 out of 511 riders in group E went under 3:15:00. This year the race is even shorter, so you'll be ok.
  9. Had the same problem: plateau at 85 kg. Then decided to cut out all alcohol and upped protein and within 4 months dropped to 77 kg at 14% body fat.
  10. It is a moot point whether I have heard of these names or not, what is important is we are yet to see scientific evidence on the matter. All the other dopers were caught out with a positive tests.
  11. Indurain is the only person in international cycling speaking sense at the moment. USADA is still to produce scientific evidence on the matter and there aren't even any rumours in this regard. Wonder Mr Le Mond fits into the picture since he is not the biggest LA fan?
  12. We are yet to see scientific evidence on the matter. At the moment it is all circumstantial evidence from ex-dopers trying to make everyone look bad so that they are not standing alone. I wonder where Greg le Mond, who is probably the biggest LA hater, fits into the whole scenario?
  13. I will pay money to see you clothes-line another cyclist at 35 km/h (combined speed of 70 km/h). He might fall off his bicycle, but you'll need a GPS to find your shoulder and arm!
  14. I studied and worked in Stellenbosch for almost 9 years and I never heard a good thing about Piet se Fiets. There were even rumours about them "recycling" bicycles. Flandria was my first option and if they could not help me (which was not often) I either went to Helderberg Cycles in Somerset West or Masons.
  15. Great race, just the racetech queue that was extremely long. Seems than 90% of the participants forgot their race chips at home (me included). Was my 3d race and started in Group 2 and got through Ou Wa Pad quite quickly, but I remember from my first race in 2010, when I was litterary the last person to cross the start line, how frustrating that first section was - unfit and inexperienced riders walking and falling all over the place.
  16. Just read Section 17 of the Consumer Protection Act again. Also the terms and conditions are binding and if you paid the deposit you agreed to adhere to them tacitly.
  17. For the Cuppachino afterwards
  18. Does anyone have an opinion on the Bikesafe boxes (sold online by Bikesafe)?
  19. It might be worth looking at the Merida range - always good value for money. Also Ghost. Try and find one with Deore (now called SLX) components (at least for rear deraileur) since you are only doing jeep track. Also another thing to consider: it takes quite a while to get used to a new bike (ROT 40 to 50 hours) especially offroad.
  20. Try Cyclelab in Boksburg, otherwise the best place for fitment is with Mike at SBK in Lonehill (google the number)
  21. I lived in Stellenbosch for many years and I quickly learned not to cycle past Kayamandi (R304) even when cycling in groups. Rather take the Klapmuts road (R44) until just past Delheim, first road left and continue onto Bottelary road. Much safer and a bit more challenging going over the hill by L' Avenir.
  22. Any idea where one can buy Rapha cycling gear in Gauteng?
