  1. Shot Dave! Pity the organizers didnt do a campaign. If you really want at the end of Moray drive, I am pretty sure our supporters will take them from you if you stop and ask nice enought.

Was pleasantly to see at the expo that Bosal makes a bike rack similar to the thule ones and marginally cheaper.

    Dogs

Dont hit the dog! (You hit my dog I stuff you up - and I can guarantee that its the attitude of most other dog owners.) It is doing nothing wrong. Rather spray it with water or whatever is in your bottle or camelbak. Will give them a fright and they wont be too keen on chasing you again (especially if its a nice energy drink). If you must hit something hit the owner. I say this as a responsible pet owner who takes their dog to parks where no cyclists go and yes, I let my dog off lead. FYI - JHB municipal by laws allow for dogs to be off lead in certain areas so check if where you are riding is one of those areas. I have zero clue which areas are off lead areas.

I will admit to being a spectator last year thinking this is a drab but honestly, last year I missed it and I appreciated what the spectators go through. Honestly riding it is less efford!! I was going to be a spectator but am now riding. Anyone who sees a rider with a bunny on the bike must rip them off! They are members of the crazy cycling group called "The Cycling Bunnies" They ride for fun Oh crud! I am one of them
  7. Shot Mark! Thanks for your hard work. Perhaps one day the cradle battle can be over.
  8. Will be my 3rd. My first one was my first road race. Missed last year and wasnt supposed to ride this year but a friend forced an entry on me last week. So much for having breakfast at Fournos watching you lot go past!
  9. Sportron has a great one (felt totally recovered after having it post Shova and I had a suck Shova due to technical difficulties of the kidneys) and I believe that the USN one is not too bad either.
  10. Well done! I am at 6 years in 2 weeks. Keep it up - its worth the initial agony.
  11. Wow! I have just read through 14 pages of this. Firstly: CR - I feel your pain!! Nothing quite like riding on Cedar road and having masses of cyclists hogging the road. My friends and I gave up riding out on your route because of 2 incidents: firstly about a year ago we were riding just to the right of the yellow line (because there was way too much glass in the yellow lane) and single file when some idiot came up behind us (and darn close to my back wheel!!!) and hooted and shouted abuse at us, he then sped past us and parked in the yellow line and further harassed us as we cycled quietly past (think the fact that we all shut up and ignored him peeved him off more). The second one was the final nail in the coffin when on our last ride out there earlier in the year we had motorbikes skimming us (so yes, I fully feel your pain with them!!). I find it sad that we have been forced to abandon this once safe riding area as it for most of the group started riding there and now do no weekend training. I hope that with the cyclists involved in negotiations and the residents, some form of treaty can be found and we can hopefully return there. After reading this long thread I can proudly say that the best move I made a year ago was to move over to Cycle Lab. Shot Andrew, Mark, Ali and the rest of the team! The forward and positive thinking of the club shows that the club not only cares for us as cyclists (with the barrage of smses and emails we get with regards safety) but also for the communities we are riding in. Thank you guys.
  12. Where is Sunward Park Village?
  13. Nice idea!! I have come across some dof medics! I came across a guy at the bottom of a drop off at a race earlier in the year with a broken collar bone. The paramedic was not hundreds clued up and had him standing in the trail!! Come along fellow mtb-er me and within minutes a fellow cyclist and I had the guy strapped and all the medic had to do was load the bike and rush the guy to a doc. So yes, a doc would be great for mtb races!!
  14. Got mine on time. And the Medium is rather huge!
  15. And you didnt push him off his bike because??? I had some dude drop a wrapper infront of me at a race earlier in the year so I caught up to him, gave him a piece of my mind, had him verbally abuse me and then had the rest of the bunch drop him like the fat sack that he was!
  16. Cradleresident... Interesting comment and thank you for your detailed reply. I have met Mark and he is a great person - sure he can help with this. One thing that concerns me is that you mention that cyclists were hit because of their own stupidity. Please can you give more details? I ask because I was recently hit by a car on Grosvenor road despite my keeping as far left as possible and obeying laws to the extreme. I sometimes think people consider us on the roads as stupidity and that motorists use "stupidity" as an excuse.
  17. Not fair! Wish we could have one of these in Joburg!
  18. AM is on a Garry Fisher next year. A 29er nogal. Yup! I have seen him ride a 29er G Fisher and its so pretty!!
  19. I like my medal!
  20. Welcome! You have a choice: cyclelab or club100 are your best bets. I ride with Cyclelab.
