  1. Thanks Ed
  2. I read that wrong
  3. Injected each lamb with ~1 litre of me and my dad's 'stolen' marinade recipe. We've used it in well over 50 lambs so far, and always get great comments about it. Mad butcher in action.
  4. Was feeling a little peckish so did this (on the 18th) Was supposed to have help, but none of them pitched so I called a mate to come and help carve around 16:00. Took us just over 90 minutes to carve all three - sharp knives only, as it should be. Fed 198 people comfortably.
  5. Downloaded the demo of Tom Clancy's "The Division" over the weekend - it's looking pretty good, but not sure there's much of a storyline there yet. The demo is the full game but limited to 6 hours playtime.

    Yup. Rob de Vlieg can make me a new sail fro R2800 - much better than R4K. I'm doing a bit of a refit at the same time, replacing most cleats, all pulleys, all stays and cables. Hulls are very solid, just need a lick of paint. Mast is ding-free, has a new trampoline on, some new ropes and bits and bobs. Probably going to spend the boat's price on upgrades/fixes, but then she'll be sweet again.

    Oh yeah, also looking for some fun places to sail the Halcat. Only know of Bronkies and Vaaldam - anywhere else I can go? I spoke to the Pretoria Yacht Club and thought the woman was going to vomit at me mentioning a Halcat on Rietvlei So that's a no go.

    The problem is that there's some form of bastard jib on the Halcat - it's most assuredly not it's original. It's in relatively good nick but I reckon it's around 80% of full size. Fits like g-string on a fat guy

    Thanks, already spoke to Nichol at NGY ... eish R4000 for a new jib for a Halcat .... only paid a little more than that for the whole boat.

    Anyone with a second hand Halcat Jib sail laying around? Or know of any sailmakers that can make me a new one?

    And finally, krismis is here. Had a couple of leads on boats, but they all panned out to be floating turds. On my way to pick up a Halcat from Harties

    Whoop - got the whole of next week off, going to the Vaal for some (actually, a lot) of sailing.
  14. Bertus give me a shout / WhatsApp on 0829405170. I'll be able to, err, knock one out for you

  16. Whoop whoop ... little happy dance is in order! Whilst picking up the set yesterday I 'casually mentioned' that it would be just an awful shame to paint such a masterpiece a drab grey - to which the client said "Well OK then, just sand and varnish it please" Honestly, that made my day. Had a hectic work day yesterday but got a ton of stuff done (and picked up a quad bike frame, wheels, brakes and suspension for a song. Going to try and find the time to build the kiddos a bit of an off-road buggy/go-kart type thing.

  18. Planks turned into headboard. Next up is convincing them to have me make two side tables to match. Must say I like mixing a bit of steel and wood.
  19. From R35 -> R350. I like.
  20. Winner! Here you go.
  21. Bargain for someone.
  22. That's going to severely limit what you can do - virtually no power tools, bar maybe a drill. And a jigsaw with good blades A well laid out workbench with a good vice and lots of hand tools - good, sharp saws (hand, dovetail, back and coping) an assortment of chisels, from 6mm to 25mm with a couple of comfortable mallets. Kreg jig for joinery.
