  1. Hmm. Imagine that, it DOES look longer once trimmed.

You're gonna get some 'NAZI' comments over that one, guaranteed.

I had a boss in Cape Town, fantastic chap, that co-paid for any visible piercing or tattoos for his programmers and IT support okies - his reasoning (in 2000) was that he can charge more for the guys that look 'weird'. He did, and clients paid. No questions asked
  4. Nice job rocket.
  5. I'm looking for a carpentry appy in Pretoria, if anyone knows one. Needs to be able to work unsupervised, training will be provided if needed, mainly bandsawing and sanding work (braindead monotonous work in other words), pay is crap, no benefits and a cranky boss.
  6. Try HUT from MrWoodturner - works a charm on almost any pen I've tried it on.
  7. Spraying some more cammo side covers for rubber band guns. There's a 120 in this pic, I do three or four such batches at a time. Four colors, with two of them being sprayed twice.
  8. Both thick and thin. Thin stuff went on easier. I guess my biggest issue is finding a clean, lint-free cloth in my workshop ... lol. The place is a damn mess at the moment.
  9. Have any of you tried CA finish on turnings? I played with it a bit last night and ... OOOH shiny. And hard. But messy.
  10. Hardware centre in Randburg.
  11. Try grated cheddar (not too much) blue cheese and whole fig jam.
  12. Your meat takes a beating on the braai, it's always best to give it a bit of rest afterwards
  13. Give it a rest already.
  14. Come to think of it, most of my school buddies I haven't seen in 20 years. The guys I really miss are the couple in the States and Oz. Old work buddies moved all over the show. Current colleagues aren't people I'd be seen in public with
  15. I was having a rare treat on Saturday night, braaing a couple of 1Kg T-bones for me and the family, when my thoughts went to wondering where the hell all my 'buddies' went, and why the hell I was braaing alone. Then it hit me - I'm over the dronk phase. And I don't have time for dronkies and their *** stories. Sad but true, just about everyone I knew from school/varsity/work buddies fall into that category nowadays. Can't have fun if they don't get dik gesuip.
  16. Q20 works for me
  17. Tell him I think he's a dwis. Because of spearo's selling fish we are getting policed more and more. Unless, of course, he has a commercial fishing licence ... which, if I remember correctly, still not allow spearos to sell fish
  18. The gun parts are too small to template router efficiently - been there, broke that. Now, if I had a CNC ...
  19. Guy I know installed white masonite as toe kicks. Yah well no fine. He's the same guy that's been building platform beds with crating pine (for those not in the know, crating pine is 'wet off saw', so it hasn't been dried properly. It goes twisty-cuppy-warpy in a heartbeat) Thank goodness he discovered melamine a few weeks ago - he's now making bed frames out of that. Selling a ton as well.
  20. Bit of both, really. I really do love this job of mine Things are just a little tight - my laser-dude has machine issues (again) paint mixers are screwing up all the time (third time they have to remix paint due to wrong colour), broke a couple of band saw blades ... but it's going very well right now. I'm still selling guns at flea markets over the weekends as well, but I'll be burning through my last little bit of stock this weekend - haven't had time to make more for the markets. Nice problem to have. My new appy is also shaping up very well. I've put in an offer on a new house, now just need to sell mine. New place has a (slightly) bigger workshop as well as a separate office ... sorely needed right now. Also enough room inside the house for everyone and the dogs.
  21. Sneak peek at the #BuffelsfonteinRekkieRoer ... not sure if I may show it yet.
  22. I've got nowhere to work at the moment ... I've been invaded! Every flat surface I've got is covered in gun parts I hope to start painting on Friday, then I can assemble them and pack it into crates.
  23. Then it's 95% likely to be 'American' walnut. Nice score African Walnut smells like nutmeg/cinamon mix.
  24. Does it smell like spice when you cut it? If so, African Walnut.
