  1. You ride for 3 days, 5hours per day @ 300w, then it is a piece of cake
  2. For all his personal data, check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Millar Most important info: height = 192cm, weight = 76kg I have estimated his FTP to be 420w. bruce2008-07-11 00:06:58
  3. Enjoy! Entire workout (395 watts): Duration: 36:19:00 Work: 860 kJ TSS: 58.4 (intensity factor 0.982) Norm Power: 412 VI: 1.04 Pw:HR: n/a Pa:HR: n/a Distance: 29.461 km Min Max Avg Power: 0 1080 395 watts Speed: 0 76.9 48.7 kph Pace 00:47 00:00 01:14 min/km
  4. Very feasible, puts him in the lower part of the "Top International Pro" section of the power profile table. http://www.cyclingpeaks.com/images/powerprofile_v4.gif
  5. Is that at FTP, or ride till you puke and blood comes from your ears? That is when I blow a gasket!

  7. To be able to do that after 3 days of riding 5 hours at over 300w' date=' that is the difference. The numbers do seem to be quite achievable, what amazes me is their ability to produce them day after day for such long periods of time. Main GC contenders are in the vacinity of 6w/kg. When Landis won, he was 68kg and FTP 400w - so 5.88w/kg. [/quote'] The real top trainers have all the Pro values and 5.33 is about the norm. Millar was going flatout and did 396Watts at 77kg. The pro's will not be averaging 300watts each day, far from that. Only once in a tour stage on a break will a rider avg around 270-280 Watts. The avg for tours is around the 210-240W mark. The impressive thing is being able to ride endurance rides at 220 to 240 watts and that is what is the difference from our Pro's to them. Our Pro's can sometimes do long 400W efforts, but need to recover at 180Watts. These guys can do 380W efforts and recover at 280W. Add that up and you have a far higher avg power at lower HR. Very, very few SA cyclists grasp that concept.... I'm using Normalised Power numbers, so yes, if we look at Adam Hansens first five days: Day 1: 4h43 @ NP=323w AP=254w Day 2: 3h47 @ NP=331w AP=258w Day 3: 5h08 @ NP=301w AP=232w Day 4: 0h39 @ NP=375w AP=367w Day 5: 5h29 @ NP=267w AP=193w the numbers correlate with what you are saying. Fitness levels have to be amazing to tolerate this kind of load.
  8. That's what many people who describe somebody on the juice as loafing on the beach don 't understand; they normally train harder than anyone else because of the reduced recovery time. Even EPO allows you to train with more intensity for longer. Yip, PED's are generally used to raise your genetic potential. If you haven't trained hard enough to reach your genetic potential, then PED's will not be as effective. You still got to train hard!!
  9. I doubt if he was riding at 100%. He is a domestique' date=' he was probably saving his legs for later, most of the sprinters other than Hunter were. [/quote'] Agreed, only GC contenders and TT specialists that are looking for a stage win would go flat out. 5.33w/kg is quite a surprise, there are certainly people in S.A. with those kinds of numbers - even Andrew Mclean is up there with those numbers. However, the sheer fitness of these guys is what really amazes me.

  11. Why do you say that? NP is not related to weight in any way.
  12. The files give same weight and FTP for all 3 riders, so I suspect the data has been changed a bit to protect the riders.
  13. He he, you try riding a 39min TT at around IF = 1 when your TSB is -64 (I estimate). Especially when you aren't a GC contender.
