I have no words to say that haven't already been said! R.I.P. Ryan
  4. I have an Edge 305, what a brilliant piece of kit!! Check out the motionbased website (www.motionbased.com) it is seriously cool! You can view your rides on all sorts of maps etc - truly awesome stuff.
  5. Geez, seems like S.A. is the only county where Hemopure is allowed to be used on humans!! Maybe that's why all the teams like to have their training camps here Just did a lookup on Hemopure on Wikipedia, and someone has already updated the wiki with a link to the above article.
  6. Mind games!
  7. I reckon that oke that Robbie nearly smacked at the Giro is in the pub now, telling everyone that he got punched by Robbie Hunter!!!
  8. I nearly ran out of petrol driving into a headwind on the way back from Knysna towing a Venter with 4 bikes on top of it!!
  9. Or as they say in Afrikaans - kry vir jou 'n grooter ****!
  10. Read the article on "match" analysis on the power411 section of the Cyclingpeaks website. I am on the Computrainer at the moment so can only do things with one hand!
  11. Check them out on the online viewer from TrainingPeaks http://www.trainingpeaks.com/2007tourdata.asp
  12. Bruce' date=' if you manage to merge it, PLEASE let me know!! Will you be able then to view it as 1 ride in CyclingPeaks? I'm addicted to my PowerTap and Garmin.[/quote'] That is the goal! Apparently they are planning this feature in a future version of CP. We can ask Hunter when he is out here.
  13. he he, I think my unit froze on our rider on Wednesday!
  14. tazman have sent you an email!
  15. Oh, and I forgot to say - the HR strap is compatible with the new powertap coded straps (if you wear a strap that is )
  16. Thanks, have removed some offending items
  17. Hagar I am busy testing one at the moment - the Bulk Pack Meat team will hopefully be using these. I must say, it is a seriously cool piece of kit! I have been wanting to get my paws on one for a long time now!! Some of the cool features: Virtual training partner - let's you pace against a virtual rider, really helps for the motivation! Can pace against a previous performance. Can create a computrainer course file that is an exact replica of the route you road. Configurable display - you can set up the fields you want to see while riding. Back light display. Rechargeable battery. Set up riding routes with way-points etc - or use from someone else. This would let you share training routes with other people or create a training route from a map. At the moment I am working on merging powertap data and the garmin data which would give you the power you were producing at any point along the course!
  18. Preeeeecisely - I'll turn you into a power boy one of these days!!
  19. Jason power to weight is not as important in a flat time trial as power to frontal area - i.e. power vs. aerodynamic drag. You'll notice that the w/kg column does not descend in order, whereas the w/FSA does. w/kg get's more and more important when the road tilts upwards.
  20. When 101% rides there is usually blood!! If it's not his, it is somebody else's!!
  21. Malibu or Jack Daniels?!? Um' date=' I'll try the fan thing sometime. It's just a little bit cold at the moment. I'll see if I can get my ave wattage up through this, if the cooling works.... from 105W to 130W... baby steps first. The thing is when you doing a 20 minute interval and then rest for 5 minutes the fan cools you down to a point where you just feel to cold to carry on... I'm also worried about getting sick.[/quote'] I have the fan right in front of me - can reach it with my hand. I usually warm up without it, 10 minutes or so, then when I start my session I switch the fan on. Switch it off when recovering for longer than a few minutes.
  22. You need to stay more hydrated!! A fan actually can't provide the same air flow that you experience when riding on the road, so it shouldn't dry out your throat more than riding on the road! Plus, on the road you are riding with more pollutants in the air, which would make infection worse. Drink plenty!!!!
  23. That brings up a question for me?.... Does it make a such difference to the end result or is it just easier to controll your training and cause less injuries? I had a mate who used to run 10km's in 29mins...he never used a wrist watch let alone any power meters...don't think it would have made a difference there. A power meter doesn't pedal for you, so it doesn't suddenly make you go faster. A power meter (just like EPO) doesn't turn a donkey into a racehorse -as they say in the classics. A power meter does allow you to optimise your training. So, you can either achieve the same results with less training time, or better results with the same amount of training time. All within your own potential as an athlete of course.
  24. You've got to respect the man - he screwed up, has been banished, and is not trying to pretend he is something he isn't. Let's wait for the book to come out, that should be interesting.
