  1. That is one helluva sweet bike. Many happy km's
  2. Sure if you're comparing a 29er to a hypermarket special then yes I'm sure it is better. But to honest, having ridden a Silverback Storm 1 this weekend (whilst it was a truly lovely bike), I dont see how much better it is that my Trek Top Fuel. I really think this whole 29er thing is such a marketing hype. The point raised above, about how 29er riders tell everyone they ride 29er, is exactly why I think so.
  3. Seriously bro, its not about the bike.
  4. That's awesome. Hope you having a great time. Where exactly is this?
  5. Queen Bree and I at the top of her mountain. Galaxy S
  6. You're quite correct, it hasn't been peer reviewed, but come on. Have you read the data? It is quite moving. Again, I'm not arguing that Pistorius shouldn't be there. I'm merely backing up others' statements that he has an advantage over able-bodied athletes because of his blades. He actually didn't. SA Olympic qualifying requirements were 45.30s twice in 2012 in international competiton. He only ran <45.30s once in 2012 and never repeated it. But SASCOC ignored that and sent him to the Olympics anyway.
  7. How can you even write this? This is the biggest load of *** ever. Now genetics are to blame for an althete's performance. Seriously? Science has proven that Oscar's blades are advantageous (Weyland et al. even claim as much as 12 seconds). No-one is denying his spirit and triumph, but you cannot argue that he doesn't have an advantage over other athletes due to his blades.
  8. 29er. Flipping awesome bike.
  9. Is it bad for your chain to leave it on the big ring? Or to have the derailleur extended (by having it in the granny gear for example). My parent always told me never to do these things for fear of stretching the chain or RD spring. Any truth to this cycling myth?
  10. Fuel Ex 9.8. But in Red... Damn, I want one
  11. My question is: Why don't they integrate a mountain bike style disc brake system into the middle of the fork? Thus one could use ceramic pads and still use the road bike rim as the contact surface, minimising brake fade with a large surface area. Additionally, by putting it in the middle of the fork (in the U of the two arms), one reduces the amount of drag and the visual disturbance of the bike.
  12. Recover Max after hard rides (usually coupled with 4 eggs on toast) and CytoPower on the ride. Glutamine if it was particularly tough.
  13. Leaning into corners like Valentino Rossi leads to a face full of mud...
  14. Because not everyone wants a 29er. I personally prefer 26er, but hey. Different strokes. Fast forward 2 years and you'll probably say this about 29er's with 650B coming into fashion. In summary: I think it makes perfect sense, and 29er's are NOT clearly the way forward.
  15. Yeah, it's seeming more and more like that's the case.
  16. Tejay is riding the TT of his life. He's just caught Cuddles. Dunno if that's because Cadel is riding poorly, or because Tejay is awesome.
  17. Well its all pretty irrelevant. Wiggo is quickest at the first time check. First under 17 mins
  18. Damn, Mark Cavendish destroyed everyone there... What an exciting finish!
  19. I'd be very happy going through life knowing that I had won the Tour. Just because you're not the strongest or best rider doesn't mean he doesn't deserve it. And I think that Wiggins definitely has the legs, he just hasn't had to use them very much this Tour, which is a testament to Sky and to his domestiques.
  20. I dunno. He has controlled the race amazingly, and he'll put a hell of a show on in the final TT. It certainly hasn't been the most exciting Tour, but I think he does deserve to win. What a legend. I really hope he wins this stage. He thoroughly deserves it. And to claim the KOM jersey with it, will be the cherry on top.
  21. Bruce Filleu almost klapped that Saffer... Anyone know him? I hope Nibali does something on this stage. Good to see that Liquigas has moved up to the front.
  22. 64kg, 1.83m. I think skinny would be apt here. And yes, I do eat like a horse. I blame it on a combo of fast metabolism and too much exercise
  23. Couldn't agree more. Like the chains always going to fall off or something. Then there's the issue that it causes with some people's knees.
  24. My pride and joy
  25. There is a (claimed) benefit. They claim to help eliminate the dead spot in the pedal stroke and help put down power more efficiently. Many disciplines have started using elliptical chainrings, though it seems there is much debate about them still. Have a read through this study done in 2010 on elliptical vs. normal chainrings over 10km. http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/21266731 Quick summary of the study: they don't provide any benefit Additionally, read: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11404667. Quick summary: better over 1km in a track cycling situation. I guess it is really up to personal rider preference.
