  1. The Bell super 2R is awesome. You basically always have the chin bar in your backpack, and only install it when things start to look sketchy. TBH if you are riding stuff that need a proper DH helmet, you'll be wearing one anyway. The Parachute is overkill for most of our trails, so you will look silly wearing it the whole day. Even the Bell doesn't look that great with chin bar installed. ( Compared to a normal DH helmet.) Go for the Bell.
  2. https://vimeo.com/120024398 The Transition TransAM.
  3. The new Chromag Wide Angle
  4. At least you're going for the right color! There are already 2 black ones on the way to CT.

  6. And here's the review: http://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/Bikes,3/Transition/Patrol-1,15293#product-reviews/1997
  7. Another "orange" bike: The Transition Patrol.
  8. The trade agreement between SA & the EU states that only products manufactured in the EU ( there is a whole bunch of exclusions), are exempt from import duties. You are going to struggle to find a bicycle where all the parts are from Europe. Import the frame separate from the parts ( at least a week apart), and pay 0% duties - regardless where you import it from. But remember you still have to add 10% import VAT + 14% VAT+ whatever you paid for shipping. ( normally about 13%). So the 3000 USD frame (you saw on some online bike store )is not R30 000. It is 3000 x 11,5 x 1,13 x 1,1 x 1,14 = R 48 887. So your local bike shop is not ripping you off when they are charging you R42 000 for said frame.
  9. Could you please add a unlike button? If you reach to many unlikes, your comment gets hidden and you lose reputation points. Works quite well on PB and Sky. That way we do not have to scroll through facetious comments that most of us would prefer to skip anyway... Thanks!
  10. Check out this awesome hardtail riding! http://www.pinkbike.com/news/chromag-nick-tingren-back-home-video-2015.html?utm_source=facebook.com&amp%3Butm_medium=referral&amp%3Butm_campaign=fb-like
  11. Follow this thread: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/142826-cape-uplift-days/
  12. Yip! Check Duane's uplift schedule, we'll try and be there ( Steilte & Jonkershoek) on the same days. Garden Route trails from 13 to 19 December, and Steilte / Jonkershoek from the 20th until after New Year (5/6 Jan 2015). Keep a eye on "Mountainbikers do it downhill" on FB, we will post the dates there.
  13. You can demo a Orange one later this month !
  14. OK. Having never owned an Ibis, I based my comments on conversations I had with friends who did and still do own Ibis bikes. Between the 3 of them: 1 never had a problem, 1 had 2 frame replacements, and the other guy had 1 frame replacement. Mikes Bikes who used to be a dealer for Ibis also strongly advised me against anything remotely to do with Ibis. These "third party" experiences coupled with the Vital MTB article obviously did nothing for my personal opinion of Ibis bikes. I'm glad you never had a problem, and from what I've heard, Ibis really do have fantastic customer service. ( And as I stated earlier; they do make beautiful bikes.) Enjoy your bike, I'll see you on the trails!
  15. I was being facetious. Sorry! To answer your question: Yes the HD3 is like a Bronson with more travel.
  16. Great pic! Have a look at this article: http://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/Bikes,3/Ibis/Mojo-SL-R,11762 I love Ibis and would buy their bikes in a heartbeat, but honestly, I know of too many broken frames , not just locally , but all over the web...At this price point I'm not willing to take the risk.
  17. Why? Is the Bronson frame more likely to crack than the Nomad? Ibis is like Alfa Romeo, everybody wants one, they make beautifully rides, but reliability is dodge....
  18. You do not get more "boutique" than this: The Chromag Samurai handmade in Whistler, any color you want....
  19. From the " Your Enduro ride" forum:
  20. From what I understand framesets only, but buildkits can be brought in on request. Keep checking Facebook: Downhillers do it Downhill and Swamp Dogs....they'll post any news and contact details there.
  21. Transition & Banshee are now available in South Africa. Had a chat to the importer this weekend, they'll be having demo days in December with Banshee, and Transition should be here in February.
  22. A Little birdie told me you can get these locally now! Check out mountainbikers do it downhill on facebook. The same guys who's bringing in Banshee.
