  1. Lol yeah Just seen your reply now. That makes sense!
  2. As I thought. Google image search to the rescue
  3. It's MM, Crutchlow, VR46, Lorenzo, pedrosa
  4. Next to rossi (rhs) are pedrosa and lorenzo. Pedrosas height should be the giveaway. Then Lorenzo's face. Crutchlow would be the big dude, in the monster Honda kit. Only other guy in the top 5 on a Honda is MM
  5. yeah, never been (NEEEEED to) so I can't comment. I see a skills park session soon. Nixon needs bigger drops.
  6. YOu know, it probably is the same if you took out a big wadge of dirt from there... Still. That gap!
  7. That's because he's just so damn light, all he needs is one pedal stroke and he's gone. They're not jumping it, by the looks of things. They're just rotating the frame in preparation for a slightly off line landing - that's why it looks as if it's a bit of a drop into hip sorta thing. I reckon it's a bit bigger than DDD. But then I dunno. It looks large to me.
  8. not me... EDIT: Also looks like a bit of a hip drop. Meh. I'm screwed...
  9. yeah. Like all dropoffs. Just need to hit it, and do a little manual-type thing off the edge.
  10. yeah. Us mortals, on the other hand... I seriously need to get rid of the "Nopes" in my brain...
  11. Not necessarily. Depends on your skill level, again. I wouldn't ride it on an XC race bike, full sus OR hardtail, put it that way. But if your name is Nino, then that won't be a problem. I would do it (maybe, when I have gotten comfortable with a drop that big) on a DJ hardtail. But that's it. I'd definitely feel more comfortable on something with a bit more squish...
  12. yes, but it's a trail that you should have a certain amount of skill to ride. If you can't do the entry drop, you shouldn't be on the trail as it has features that are bigger and more dangerous than that. You're ALLOWED to ride the trails, but if it is an entry criteria, it's there to prevent people below a certain skill level from riding the trail when it would be above their skill level. Remember, it's supposed to be a double black. That means mega technical and full of technical elements. Waiting for a response from Bennet, but that is my feeling - it's there to prevent beginners from riding a potentially dangerous line.
  13. I don't think so. It's there as a filter, essentially saying if you can't ride that you shouldn't be on the trail. Will ask though
  14. That's what she said... Okay. Seriously now... that's exactly it. You honestly have to feel the difference to appreciate it. Inputs are sharper, lines are held more easily, direction changes happen instantaneously and often take you by surprize with how they just HAPPEN with so little input. You have to readjust because everything is just that much sharper.
  15. SQUIRREL! BTW. That's a sign of how easy it is for a niner wheel to deflect, and why it's important to get a stiffer setup. Carbonz does this.
  16. Not always true, luke. You've fallen into your own trap here. I say again - stiffness. Not weight. You can still have an uber stiff wheel with a set of DH tyres and it'll be markedly better / stiffer / more responsive than a different, alu wheelset that weighs the same.
  17. but carbon rims aren't all about weight. A good rim weight is in the same region as a set of Crests or Flows (420g - 520g) depending on the width, layup and intended purpose The primary reason for going carbon on rims is because of the STIFFNESS they provide vs normal alu rims. In determining the difference between carbon & alu rims, should one not go for the tyres that one is used to riding? Or go for the highest amount of grip possible so that they can determine whether they are in fact more laterally stiff than other rims? I think you're missing the primary purpose here...
  18. I lost interest midway through S4 - felt as if it had lost a bit of direction, but it was still good. Will check it out this PM.
  19. and at a much lower spec. X1/X01 mix vs GX Guide RS vs DB5 Dropper vs none X01 crank vs S1000 Spank Oozy Trail 295 rims vs niner branded bargain rims Monarch RT3 vs RT Revelation RCT3 vs Fox 34 performance FIT (let's call it equal here, RCT 3 is equiv of Factory fork, but the 34 is the better chassis) If you were to spec the Niner with the same components, you'd be FAR higher ito cost. So no. No serving happening here. As for 11kg - in this spec? I doubt it.
  20. Rocket Rons? It's not the casing, it's the tyre. Unless you go trailstar and run them at super low pressures, they just aren't a front tire.
