  1. NN would be great on the back as well. If you're worried about it being too aggressive, then the Rocket Ron is a good alternative - faster but almost as grippy. Me, I'm a porker. So I run 30psi rear and 25 front. Shortly going to drop to 25/20 to see what it's like. I recently re-inflated my tires and found that they were in the region of 15-20 psi - which is so little pressure for me. But I need to play around more. I feel the washing out (vagueness) is directly related to pumping the tire up to 28 psi before the ride, where it was 20 psi the ride before.
  2. 2.35 NN is a good tire. Also the Mountain King 2 or a Maxxis Ardent. But I'd stick with the NN and play around with the pressures before knocking a few ZARs out the window.
  3. HAHA! Summer in England is hotter and longer than many people think, so it's easy not to be pasty white! As for downloads... Strava is a good place to look. Unfortunately I cannot d/l any GXP content from there (not a premium user) but you can look there for other routes, or appeal to some of the regulars here to give you a tour...
  4. Same as me - reign x with lyrik rc2dh up front. Running HD's at the moment.
  5. Hi Leona, just bear in mind that there's a LOT of climbing in Jonkershoek, if you do all the trails! But it is worth it for sure.
  6. LOL. Yeah, just go Minion again. I'm gonna try the Muddy Mary's next time around. But tbh - nothing really grips in the sandy stuff that collects in the corners!
  7. Yep. Here's the heirarchy: Trance: 125mm travel F&R New trance: 140mm F&R Trance SX: 140mm rear, 160mm front Reign: 150mm travel F&R Reign X: 170mm travel F&R Faith: 178mm travel rear
  8. The pacestar is the "faster rolling" version. Not as grippy but then it's faster rolling. Still a very good tire, and in pace-star better for the harder conditions you get up there in JHB. Oh, and Omega - you just need to lean harder Found that vagueness this weekend. It seems to be the transition zone between middle and side knobs. Quite good knowing that they're there when leaned hard.
  9. The beer is in my hands... My grubby little (big) hands...
  10. LOL.No worries bud. I'm guilty of buffoonery all the time (just ask my wife!)
  11. EZRider, there you go... If you don't mean it the way it came across, then please don't say it like that. Makes you look like a buffoon, tbh.
  12. Dude you made an unsubstantiated comment about non-lockout equipped forks being not worth anything, then Droo came and countered your BS story. Now you come in saying his fork without lockout is only good 'cos it costs so much? Nah. BS mate. Lockout is not necessary for road riding. End of. To say that a fork is worth nothing if it doesn't have lockout is also BS. Saying that the fork should be upgraded at the earliest opportunity, now that's NOT BS.
  13. What droo said. No contest. Those better parts will serve you WAY better. And no, it's not just about the fork
  14. Yeah, the WTB 2.3 is a BIG tire. Bigger than a Minion 2.5. And that's large. Weirwolf or wolverine for the back? I run a weirwolf (more aggressive) at the back and must say I'm pleasantly surprised that such an aggressive tire does so well at the back. At the front it's amazing as well...
  15. I've done it as well. Doesn't mean I can replace the part that was broken (ratchet on a Sora shifter) but I put it back together again after a temporary fix with my little friend, 372..
  16. Yeah thanks dude (messaged you earlier) And the tendency to enter level is totally as a result of the knee. I can't get the left pedal past 11/12 o clock after a corner. So I keep them level. But overall, yes - I do. Or, rather, I try...
  17. LOL. You have to search through all the opinion, crass and derp to find the good threads, DG... But they're here!
  18. As Cap says - harder tyre at the back. It takes the brunt of wear thanks to the weight distribution and the fact that drive goes through it whereas the front is just your direction choosing implement... And he was only laughed at 'cos it went against convention. But - it worked. So it was a figurative nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah to the cretins.
  19. YES PLEASE!!!! My HD is starting to come apart on some of the knobs. Must be a sign of the increased pressure I'm putting on it with my lard ass. Oh - btw - I've DEFINITELY started leaning the bike enough to notice the transition from centre to side knobs. It was disconcerting at first, but now that I know where it is and that it WILL grip (no matter what) it's actually quite satisfying. It's happened 4 times so far. Twice yesterday at Jonkers and twice on Saturday in Tokai. Only happens on flat to off camber though, from what I've experienced.
  20. Nice, dude. May decide to go that way instead of Muddy Mary next time round.
  21. LOL. Cap was laughed at 'cos he had the Nobby Nic at the front with the Hans at the back!!
