  1. In DBN, I'd go for a very aggressive tire, given the soft loamy type of soil you have up there. Have a look at the Kenda Nevegal, WTB Weirwolf, Maxxis Minion (super tacky tire, on my DH bike) or a Geax Seaguro, Schwalbe Nobby Nic or a Conti Mountain King. Small Block 8's would quite rightly suck in mud. Just don't get crossmarks. They'll wash out just as fast as the SB 8's, if not faster.
  2. And some of them are at the Top of that particular game...
  3. Looking tops, Nigel. Oh - the DHI will be in action this weekend, and at the Urban Assault. Just replaced the fork oil, and what came out was nastier than Oprah's undies.
  4. Cool. You're using it on Sunday, I imagine? Giving my full-face a respray soon though. Going the same colour as the steed.
  5. You including yourself there, Chubba? BTW - did you get your full-face from Re-Cycles?
  6. Fell victimized, I do! Drink another Monster, I should. Invincible I shall be.
  7. Thought we had finished with the Olsen side of things?
  8. Why not? I've ordered 1 tyre before. Gives you a chance to look for sale items as well... Cheap cheap! Maybe get a cut-price bar or stem?
  9. Yep, only VAT of 15.4% (10% added to value of merchandise, then VAT added on top of that) Ordering is a breeze - my order got here within a week, and it was shipped by parcelforce. Flawless service.
  10. Yeah... go for the CRC option. The tire will be here in a week if you choose parcelforce, and should still be affordable and you won't have to be relying on a Cajee shop (har har) to get you stock. And then notify you of that stock.
  11. NIGE! Some killer scope you got there. It's a bit hard to say what will/won't work without actually seeing the landscape itself, but I'm sure the sustained slope will be far better for the track. It'll also go towards getting rid of the aura that PMB has of being "that pedally track" and will ramp up the need for technical ability over pedalling power. Capricorn! Where are you for this!?
  12. Oh, I have no doubt of that! He's an xTerra machine, that guy. Extremely impressive athlete. In terms of the conditioning, yes. There are not many ways of being able to overcome the deficit that you have when having only concentrated on one discipline for so many years of your life, but if I think of Ryan Sandes, and the way he's obliterated the ultra super marathon field, then the requirement to have years and years of training in all fields in order to be competitive kinda debunks itself... I would think that the major difference between the guys who have been doing it, and the new entrants, is the mental toughness and knowledge that they can do it, and that they can do it that fast, for that long. It enables them to go all out, all the time, with the confidence that they can do it.
  13. And get the folding bead instead of the wire bead. Easier to get on & off (in my experience)
  14. Good price means nothing without availability... check out cwcycles dot co dot za
  15. Indeed, PorS. Indeed. Bucket of salt material, mostly. But yes, we were all single-digit-posters at one time or another. Personally though, I think it is a bit "off key" to join a forum, and then complain about the perceived "bad attitude" of the forum members whilst being less than 20 posts old yourself. From that standpoint, the members who have responded, although being perceived as the antagonists and spewers of the "adapt or die" attitude, actually have a point themselves.
  16. No thanks... Not my style. There's something I've got against shacking up with a bloke.
  17. Steve, I'm sure he has a lot more swimming, running and riding base than a lot of us realise. His residence doesn't exactly lack facilities, so I'm sure he's done a lot of secret training. Podium on the first race? Maybe not. But then I don't think it'll be long before he's in contention for the top spots.
  18. Unfortunately not, I haven't had the pleasure. But I've met Mr. Boonstra and he reckons that the Caveman is just unbelievable in terms of his sheer physical strength on the bike. Also, I'm afraid that he would just ride away from me. He'd put 2km on me before I'd even done 1.
  19. Shot mate, you too. I hope to be on the mountain by 4, testing out the new crank and extended travel on my xc bike... Gonna look like a bit of a tjop though. Only helmet I have at this stage is my full-face, thanks to a helmet-crunching, concussion-causing fall from grace I had last Saturday.
