  1. I'm looking forward to doing trying my hand at this next weekend. Would have done it today, but cough cough splutter wheeze.
  2. Okay guys, I will be the first to apologise for not making it today. Some local nazis (Germs) decided to take residence in my system, and I was hucking up phlegm all night and day. Suffice to say that I didn't get much sleep last night, and I don't know how tonight is going to pan out. Please feel free to give me a snotklap next time you see me, in lieu of the useless excuse that I have given. I can only hope that there were enough peeps to do some good work there.
  3. bwahahahahaha! funniest thing ive seen for a lng time!
  4. lekker... gives me time to peruse the specials at the CWC opening day and get some DS practice in before Sunday.
  5. done! I'm still a bit of a wussy on the thing, but would like to give her a go!
  6. SNAP! It's also my birthday on Saturday! So the other okes will be celebrating your heritage as well as mine! Awesome. See you guys there...
  7. Deon, why don't you just change the rings themselves, and not the whole crank? You can customize your gearing however you want then...
  8. Damn. Take a chill pill, dude. And cut out the *** attitude. For your information, we are allowed to cycle in the yellow lane. It's a little known piece of the RTA that stipulates that a vehicle (including, but not limited to, a pedal cycle) may cross over to the yellow lane in order to allow other motorists to pass, as long as it is safe to do so. By extension - we are always getting passed by motorists. So, in busy periods, one is allowed (according to the law) to ride in the yellow lane. In quiet times, when no passing is going on, then you should ride outside of the yellow lane. You really should get the facts straight before you start spewing incomprehensible BS.
  9. DUde, I still get a bit strange when I try to figure out how the Switch suspension works on the new Yeti... Gives me the willies!
  10. I think I speak on behalf of all here when I say that there is no "best" suspension design out there. Single Pivot, VPP etc etc. Each one of them has characteristics that the other does not, and as such will suit different types of riders and have different characteristics in terms of their treatment of the bumpy stuff, and not so bumpy stuff. Some riders prefer a more linear spring rate, some prefer the ease of a single pivot, some prefer the floatiness that the VPP gives. In addition, the marketing departments of each different company will tell you why their design is better than all the rest for that specific application. To narrow it down to best for each specific discipline is like saying that Shell is the best fuel in the world for short circuit racing.
  11. Looks good - I wonder who did the bike "stunts"?
  12. I tried riding below 95% this morning. I couldn't. It feels as if I'm not even moving when I do that.
  13. Erm - surely you don't want them to last forever and ever? I'd be perfectly happy with replacing them every couple of years or so... 10 year old bibs? Manky.
  14. Perfect. You'd be surprized how home-buyers assume that the lack of a hot water output near the washer is a bad thing... Erm - really? Switch off mains water. Get a split pipe section of copper pipe. Insert into section of existing hot line to the local sink (almost ALWAYS there at the same place as the washer) Run line to washing machine. End in hot water tap. Turn on mains. Keep all other taps but new one off. Let air exit the system. Et Voila. Won't cost more than R 500, unless you need to run a 10m section of pipe (unlikely) or you want a Hans Grohe tap for your Washing Machine outlet.
  15. Ask Ngala24. He's the local agent for them
  16. Jees. All this fuss over a washing cycle. Damn. Mine go in with everything else, on a cold wash (hot water isn't hooked up to the washer) and with or without softener, sometimes Vanish liquid / powder, sometimes nothing else but other sports kit. Couldn't be fussed, really. And apparently, neither could the bibs!
  17. Gnar! Gnar gnar gnar! Yeah, I felt pretty "squishy" on the DH bike. But that might just have been as a result of my pooped-edness at the time!
  18. Yeah, definitely! On that assumption, I'll be at the bottom end of the sheet! I would imagine an AM type / longer travel XC bike would be best.
  19. When I train on the road, I generally ride on the side if there's a gravel section, so it works for me.
  20. Chubba - it doesn't really matter what bike you use here. Yes, there are a couple of dropoffs and "jumps" but they can be easily rolled over. In fact, the HT will probably be faster due to the pedally sections... We just wanted to have a jol, and jump off everything there was to jump off!
