  1. Trek Top Fuel 9.7 Brand new in the box for R 14,700? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!    I'll take 10! Seems Contact Person Andries is "given customers at very competitive prices"
  2. Not cool. Mind you, after only 2 1/2 weeks it's not really surprising. I remember doing mine in (went off a 3m drop after being a little bit too clever and trying to change big ring with right hand on the mtb) and having to wait 4 before I was even semi-comfortable. This was without a plate, and I was 16 so very fast healing... Not a lekker injury.
  3. No comment... (read: ineptitude & idiocy reign supreme. no common sense)
  4. That is a bit of a nuisance, to put it lightly...
  5. Getting myself some as well. Self-preservation is key.
  6. Yep, according to this I am breaking the law when I lift both arms off the bike. Which I have done before. I also do not have reflectors on the rear or front of the bike or on the pedals themselves, rather employing lights & a NATHAN reflective vest/arm-warmers/reflective clothing at such times that I would consider myself not to be visible by other road users. Nor do I have a noise-making device other than myself. However, I consider my voice to be far superior to anything that a bell / horn could accomplish insofar as volume & directionality is concerned. I wear the NATHAN if I am to ride at any time that vision could be considered as being impaired. I wear reflective items all the time. So yes, I have broken the law on these accounts.
  7. maybe your firmware is out of date? There were a couple of bugs with earlier versions of firmware, and I have had no problems with my 310xt...
  8. Good luck with the surgery mate. Speedy recovery!
  9. Keep it dark, mate. At the most, a silver one. White will look so very arbitrary.
  10. Based on spec - Raleigh. Current Alivio is like 2008 Deore. 2011 Deore is a new kid on the block, and I feel has gone back to the quality that auld Deore represented. The DART is on a par with the XCR, but both need upgrading in the future to show you what MTB really can offer. If I were you, I'd get the Raleigh. Tell the brand-mongerers to sod off and go out and enjoy your ride, no matter what you have under you. I'm in the process of upgrading the bike I got for R 5,500 brand new. And you know what? It's exactly the same frame that came on bikes that cost 3 times as much as mine.
  11. Bwahaha! Hijack on - Cap - you going to Tokai tomorrow? Plan on hitting it with my fiancee at about 8.
  12. Good upgrade, Wannabe... lekker to do it slow & steady on a frame that you really appreciate. You'll save loads on weight when you swap out that Dart!
  13. I would imagine that the shoes and helmets attract the obligatory 40% duty that clothing attracts. Best check that out before you buy!
  14. Regarding the earnings thing, I'm commission only, so it is variable. Plus, hid a couple of things away for this very purpose. Still, will find it hard to justify the purchase in any terms that she will understand. Unless, that is, I buy her a new squash racquet, shoes & something else as a topper-upper. And finish that coffee table I've been making for the past 4 weeks. And build a new chest of drawers. And... and...
  15. Nice intro to the MTB world. Many happy, mud-filled miles, mate!
  16. Seems the other half has noticed the recent addition of "Tubeless" to the graphics on the tires. Yet to say anything about it though. Oops. She hasn't yet noticed: Blackburn tool & bomb-dispenser; Bottle of stans; New shifters; wholly integrated rear derailleur cable; new cassette; 2011 Reba RL of the hiding-in-the-cupboard variety... Must say though... went to Tokai yesterday, and the difference between 1.95 tubed and 2.2 WTB Wolverine tubeless is frankly awe-inspiring. And that's before I replace the Suntour XCM with the Reba hiding-in-the-cupboard! Cannot wait! Edit: Need to prepare for wrath of female proportions. ***. At least I have my precious
  17. Here's mine... Just taken this afternoon on the way to Silvermine Gate, before missioning back down... Couple of things I want to do to her, but they will have to wait for christmas to come around before I can "implement" the upgrades. Translation - get the fiancee' something of equal value...
  18. I saw one of these frames in Black & white @ Epic Cycles the other day. Pure. Bike. Porn. Picked it up. Felt it. Caressed it. And Simon would have had to restrain me had I held onto it for a moment longer than I did. Very schweet bike there, Dangle. Consider me greeeeeeeen!
  19. Good man... I must say though - the 2011 RS stuff is looking pretty damn good! And R 3,500 for a REBA RLT Gold?!
  20. bwahaha!!! So, Punt... Have you? topic-focused now... I'm firmly in the wetsuit camp. Just for the fact that it provides much-needed comfort and buoyancy in colder waters, and helps retain much-needed energy for later activities. Fact is, you can stay in cold water for much longer with a suit on, and go for much longer afterwards, no matter the subsequent activity. Plop in some cold water for the same period without a wetsuit, and you'll feel the effects for a long time afterwards. Your body will be consuming more calories to get your core temp back up to where it should be, thereby prevent your body from giving the level of performance & efficiency that you need in order to do well, or ENJOY an event. Plus, on a lighter note, you'll look a lot more dedicated and prepared for the event. Also, it's better to have it and not need it than wish you had it...
  21. damn, and I just got myself a 310xt!!! Bastards! That was going to be one of the major drawcards!
