  1. Good man... I must say though - the 2011 RS stuff is looking pretty damn good! And R 3,500 for a REBA RLT Gold?!
  2. bwahaha!!! So, Punt... Have you? topic-focused now... I'm firmly in the wetsuit camp. Just for the fact that it provides much-needed comfort and buoyancy in colder waters, and helps retain much-needed energy for later activities. Fact is, you can stay in cold water for much longer with a suit on, and go for much longer afterwards, no matter the subsequent activity. Plop in some cold water for the same period without a wetsuit, and you'll feel the effects for a long time afterwards. Your body will be consuming more calories to get your core temp back up to where it should be, thereby prevent your body from giving the level of performance & efficiency that you need in order to do well, or ENJOY an event. Plus, on a lighter note, you'll look a lot more dedicated and prepared for the event. Also, it's better to have it and not need it than wish you had it...
  3. damn, and I just got myself a 310xt!!! Bastards! That was going to be one of the major drawcards!
  4. congrats mate! Hope you're prepared for it....
  5. Yep, no sympathy. If you haven't realized that all e-mails containing the words "lottery winnings", "clearance agent", "money-gram" & "free gift" are a scam by now, then there's no hope for you. All these things originate in Mordor anyway. Any place that's overshadowed by a giant eye is bound to be suspect.
  6. go visit specsavers, then...
  7. yes pleeeeeeeeease!!!!!
  8. and yes - it is property of TMNP, and is private property. Therefore the owners are entitled to charge an entry fee. Only reasonable, given that they are providing access to walkers, riders, etc etc. All of whom need to pay to enter.
  9. wildcard is around 300 for a year's unlimited entries... Well worth it, if you ask me!
  10. extend your budget to something reasonable...
  11. No idea mate... no idea at all... I'm just trying to take it slow at the moment, otherwise I know I'll go too fast, too soon and wreck all the recovery I've had so far... But, not going to the forest tomorrow - going to go for a road session, because I can't afford another non-wildcard entry at 30 bucks a pop. It's been that much of a *** month! I will be on the MTB though... trying to check out the different bits of gravel at the side of the road!!! Next month, fair game. Need a new wildcard as well though...
  12. So I went to Tokai this morning, after having a 3 month layoff as a result of a knee injury. Started raining halfway up Faerie, and just got harder. The rain, that is... And - what a jol it was! Fan-friggin-tastic! It really has been too long, and I was reminded of just how much I love this sport. I was soaking wet, cold, and ripping up the trails. Or trying to, at least. 3 months off the mountain is a long time, after all! And improvising on the pavements and roads just doesn't make up for the experience you gain on the trails. What a friggin jol it was. Tomorrow? You bet ya!
  13. Bwahahahaahahahahaha!!!
  14. Jees, bro - lucky man! Tossers like that give motorists a bad name, and generally cause all the mayhem that we strive against!
  15. did a short, but lekker 40km to Fish Hoek circle and back, with a stop at Olympia along the way.
  16. still battling against a knee injury (torn meniscus) so it's still road only for a few more weeks. Just got on my bike again this morning for the first time in 5 weeks!
  17. and damn, how I long to get back on to the trails!!! Tore my meniscus 4 weeks back, so at least another 4 weeks till any sort of strenuous knee-activity. And yes, MTB does qualify as strenuous, considering the amount of lateral forces that go through the leg when maneuvering the bike around the ST. HOW I LONG!!!
  18. and........? well done to you. Now give us something more to go on.
  19. 11 to 12 (UK) but properly wide... was a pain to get shoes that fit properly, but eventually had to bite the bullet to get a pair of shoes. Not the perfect fit, but Adidas carbon -soled at R 1,100 was too good to miss. Love 'em, and plenty stability and my feet have stretched them a bit, which is great.
  20. another possibility is the Felt range, but the top tube might be a bit too long for her... I know it's just at the limits of my reaches, and my reach is pretty long. Silverback / Merida / Scott are all good at that price...
  21. damn, that looks good! If I had the dosh, for sure!
  22. I'm sick... sorta. Torn meniscus 2 weeks back, and now my knife decided i've been getting too little meat in my diet and sliced a section of my finger off. So, no exercise for me for now. Was going to go swimming, but the finger stuffed that up properly for the next 2 weeks at least. Was going to do the Gun Run 10k this year, but my training was cut in half with the knee injury. All in all - pretty good month so far.
