  1. Oh. Ok. I might be wrong. Do you know from where they start?
  2. I should have added that its an mtb group. A lot of the cyclists are probably retired and there is a large percentage of E-Bikes in the group
  3. I'm trying to find out some details and/or contact details of a group of cyclists that start on Tuesday mornings riding from Pedlars on the bend restaurant. Can anybody help? Thanks in advance
  4. What's so funny about somebody cycling along Main road Hermanus? They are probably cycling to/from Hemel en Aarde trails as part of their warm up/cool down. Can I assume that you would put your bike on the bike rack to drive to to the trails?
  5. Great. I'll get in touch. thanks for the referral.
  6. Is there any way I can contact them? Websites, telephone etc. (5F). @Pure Savage. That sounds perfect. Mature is boring. I want to get hold of the immature ones.
  7. Hi all I was cycling with my wife on Tuesday around Constantia Nek. we were coming down a hill and on our mtbs and we passed a group a guys (about 8 or 10) of more advanced age busy going in the opposite direction. It struck me afterwards that I should have asked them if they were a bunch of mates cycling together or if they were part of a riding club. I'm in my 60's and all my riding buddies are much younger than I am so it tends to become a struggle to keep up with them. Are there riding clubs for mature people in the Cape Town area? Asking for a friend ????
  8. I'm a little confused and would appreciate some clarification as the wording for the 109kms has been interepreted differently by several people that I've spoken to 1) Does one have to ride 109kms (IN ONE ride) in March or, 2) Can one ride different rides which all add up to 109kms in March. i.e. say 11 rides of 10kms each. As long as they are all ridden in March. Some clarification would be appreciated.
  9. Very noble of you. I know some twats on conventional bikes that would laugh at somebody struggling up that hill.
  10. How is this picture related to twats on E-Bikes?
  11. Great. thanks for the feedback. @X-man. that might be a good idea. You want to pm me?
  12. I'm going to the George area over the Christmas period and want to mtb around the dam area. I have cycled there before and its been great. I want to inquire: 1) Has the area become a hot spot (Dangerous) from the point of view of hijackings and/or attacks lately? 2) Does a person need a permit to cycle in the area? If so, where can I get one. Thanks upfront for any info/guidance
  13. Those bikes look a little big for them....
  14. Is this Bike fest still on?
  15. This is the bike I would buy if I had the money
  16. Where in Cape Town can one get Nitrile gloves? I'm going scatty looking
  17. I'll look out for the advert on Bike hub classifieds
  18. Agreed. My very point. Don't blame the E bike
  19. Don't blame the E-Bike. This is a gross misdirection of anger and frustration. the E-Bike is the innocent party here
  20. I've been using Clipless ever since I started cycling and could never understand why people ever wanted to go flat because of the ineffeciency of the stroke. About 6 months ago I had reason to try out flat pedals and to be honest I felt it was against my better judgement and I had the distinct feeling I was not going to like them. Anyway I kept my my mind open, bit the bullet, and bought an entry level set of pedals and decent flat shoes. They were fantastic. I did lose a little bit of effeceincy but at my level it was negligible. I was also scared that I would lose connectivity with the bike. Not so. My feet don't slip off the pedals like I expected them to. (Bear in mind that the pedals are not the cheap plastic Makro pedals) I drew the following conclusions for my own cycling 1) Clipless for long cycles like Argus or K2C 2) Flat pedals for short trip and stunts like wheelies, manuals etc I commute the 6-7 km to work on my flats where I can hop on and off pavements on my MTB and for long tours around the peninsula on my road bike I use the SPD's. Not quite answering your question. Apologies, Maybe it will help you make up your mind about which way you want to go.
  21. Certainly not you!!!

My interest was sparked with the bike maintenance schedules. I look after about 5 bikes between myself, wife and daughter and its hard to keep track of when each bike needs a service. Especially the suspension system. I know the forks, shocks and sub-assembly should be serviced at regular intervals, but.....
