  3. So I am on my way to Durban by the sea and all, travelling with my two companions, my R3SL and my P3, so we travelled to JHB on monday and we accepted that by know we are expected to pay extra for our bikes, so before checking in on monday I stroll over to Mango and pay my 400 South African Rants to allow my bikes to fly, now on the sceond leg we are no travelling to DBN from JHB and I go to check in, with kulula I was told to check in first and then proceeded back to the ticketing counter to go pay my 400 South African Rants, No they say we will charge you 600 South African RAnts for you bikes to fly, we know its 50% more and we dont care because you have no choice, thank you KULULA, o yes I know remeber 2 years ago you guys f#cked my bike up flying from JHB to DBN before the Tour Durban and I ended up not being able to do the race, so my 2 cents' IF YOU ARE A CYCLIST AND YOU NEED TO TRAVEL WITH YOUR BIKE, DO NOT, AND I MEAN DO NOT FLY KULULA, THEY ARE A BUNCH OF CON ARTISTS.
  4. Their is a huge differance between racing ie Licenced VETs ,Elites Elite Ladies and riding for time, ie A B C bunch etc, coming to the line in a bunch that is racing is far more hectic and thus far more dangerous than a bunch coming in trying to beat 3hrs, no the orginisers allow people who never race to ride in the racing bunches, they survive to the end and when the sprint starts they are totally out of there depht, and that causes crashes, I see riders at he ARGUS that only rides VETS at the ARGUS and other than that they never do, yes yesterday the VETS pace was pissy, I had heavy legs and riders on MTB held on, so by all means the pace was easy, but when the sprint started these guys where caught out by the sudden kill or be killed attitude that surged into the bunch, and that causes the falls, the licenced VETS , Elites etc know what to expect and there are few crashes during the year, the argus however is more nerverecking than tiresome due to riders that should not be in the bunch being in the bunch. SO IF YOU DONT RACE LICENCED DURING THE YEAR DONT DO IT AT WORLD FUNRIDE CHAMPS, YOU MAKE IT DANGEROUS FOR ALL THE OTHER RIDERS BY DOING SO
  5. I put the responsibility for the crash in the VB group staight on the shoulders of the orginizers, people are seeded into buches that they should not be in, and the bunches were to big, VB, VM and % all together, come on, do it like the 94.7 and split it 40 - 44, 45-49 etc, ladies own bunch, will make it safer and more enjoyable, the race yesterday was very negative and not hard so some of these guys where still their at the end, they then believe that they might actually be able to win, and guess what, not being used to being in tha situation leads to tired riders, trying to sprint, not holding their lines and wheels touching, COME ON TOUR ORGINISERS get it right, this for me is one of the most dangerous races every year due to this problem
  6. If you are looking for a reasonable fit and strong vet to join you i might be able to assist, will be doing the race myself, trying to improve and get into the top 10 this year, my partner that won the vets in the panorama tour with me a couple of years ago might be keen, and if he is not available i know a few strong riders that might be
  7. Think about it, think on should target to do it in 8 - 9 hours, so will have to be very carefull not to start to hard, best training is time in the saddle, not coffee rides but good solid long rides, if on your road bike try to do 150 to 180 km at average speed of 29 - 31 kph if riding on your own or 32 - 34 if riding in a group, remeber training is not socializing and social riding should not be considered training either
  8. Wont you hit your head against the ceiling if you climb indoors
  9. Lost 25kg's since i started cycling, as I say to my wife, I am now only two thirds of the man I use to be
  10. Sani is worth every cent of the entry price, the R1500 kit is R1500 each, as much food as you can eat and vanilla milk till u puke, worth every cent
  11. So i have just dropped the kids of at school driving home and listening to the radio when the outsurance ad comes up telling me that if i am a female ,27 years old then i can get life insurance for as little as R3 per day, and that if i cant afford it then i will need to give something up like just polishing 9 nails, bur then there is an up side IF I DONT CLAIM ON MY LIFE INSURANCE FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS I WILL GET 10% OF MY PREMIUMS BACK, DUH, MAJOR DUH if i claim on my life insurance i dont think i would care about getting 10% back now would i, how dumb must you be to sanction a stupid add like this, if i claim on my life insurance you can shove your 10% dude, i dont think i would then be trying to claim it now would i
  12. What wrong wiff diss foto, these oakes rides in da souff, you knows nobody messess wiff de oak in da souff not efen motarist
  13. Pretty stupid to ride through that area I will admit, and very lucky to get away with it. These must however be card carrying members of the ANC with great political spirations of looting pillaging and raping the the countries coffers as per the examples set by their astute leaders, probably decided to hone their craft on unsuspecting cyclist and just picked the wrong one . I tell you what not even Cavendish at top speed would have caught up to me as I hauled ass out of there on my MTB, think I set a new 1000m ,1500m and 2000m sprint record, on that on a MTB, after 5 hard days of riding I was battling to get my HR above 160bpm but noticed on my file afterwards that it peak out at 174bpm during the event, not bad after a 26hr week, maybe this should be recommended HR training. . Just happy to be unhurt, and thankfull to GOD for protecting me and getting me outa there unharmed without suffering any loss
  14. SURE, just cause i have been pedalling for 4:30 hours doesnt mean I am gonna give my stuff to some dumb idiot
  15. To the 3 dumb f*cks that tried to bike jack me on Potsdam rd near Killarney, FFF you you dumb c^nt, next time I wont stop at kicking your head in, I will stab you with your own knife, besides being empty handed you now have a nice little headache, you f@ck with the wrong dutchman you dumb assholes, and you f&cks bent my gear lever , I am coming back tomorrow to mugg you for some money to pay for the repairs,
  16. Now if there was less time spent on speaking **** on the hub and more time riding your bikes most of you hubbers would actually be able to cycle up the hill instead of pushing, or maybe you guys are just chasing your 15min of fame
  17. REAL CYCLIST DON'T SPIN
  18. So in the beginig of the year I switched from Polar to Garmin, then I bought a quark power meter that worked with my Garmin and for 5 months there was no problems, now with Garmin you have to download your training data via their website (Now I already have a problem with this) as they do not provide you with software that will allow you to download directly onto your pc. During July they kept on prompting me on there website to upgrade the software on my unit as there was a newer version and my was still on the old version. After several weeks of prompting I evetually upgraded, what a F#CK up, since upgarding as suggested by GARMIN my quarck no longer works and now I am losing training data as not all my files want to download either. I have now sent GARMIN 5 email in a 4 week period to which they have no responded, there web based support is geared at trying to sell you stuff and it is clear that they could not really care once you have bought their product. so my advice, DON'T BUY GARMIN, THE PRODUCT IS OK BUT GARMIN AFTER SALES SERVICE AND SUPPORT SUCKS
  19. I drove back at about 10:30 and yes he has been killed, the cyclist was still lying next to the road covered by a space blanket and clipped into his bike, my condolences go out to his family and an appeal to the metro to treat this as a homicide as this was not an accident, this was reckless and an example needs to be made to safe guard the rights of cyclists and to create awareness, prosecute the driver to the n th degree and hopefully this will force other motorists to sit up and to take notice
  20. It is the same board, we have been using them for the MTN series as well so they will just give you new stickers when you do your registration for the crater cruise
  21. So PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZEEEEEEEEEEEEE, ag PRETTY PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZEEEEEEEEEEEEEE mr Supersport, can we get some coverage with a commentator who actually knows something about cycling, what terrible commentary, this oak firstly has no idea about cycling or the lingo and even less about the riders, I think even Edwil van Aarde would do a better job.
  22. JUST signed the tag, their was no waiver info or details on the tag, my point is once I had my luggage to the airline it is in their care and their responsibility until it is handed back to me at my destination, so for them to say that they cannot or will not accept responsibility is not accepatable, cause if that is the case then I want my bike to be my carry on luggage.
  23. So I buy my plane ticket to fly down to Durban for the Tour Durban, early the Saturday morning I pack my bags and carefully pack my bicycle into my bike bag. I stop at the hardware and even buy some locks to make sure everything is probably secure, pick my mate up and we rush off to the airport. On arrival we check in and I ask the lady at the counter to please place a "FRAGILE" sticker on my bike to witch she replies they no longer apply these and assures me that they will handle my bike with extreme care. So we get to Durban and I notice that my suitcase was tamperred with, this I notice because the lock I bought on my way to the airport is no longer on my suitecase. I go to Kulula's counter and report the matter and was told that someone from Kulula will contact me regarding the matter, anyhow, luckily nothing is stolen so life goes on and we arrive at our hotel after a very good deal cab ride. On Saturday evening I start assembling my bike and it appears that the rear derauleur on my bike has been bent on the flight, I try to straighten this out and it seemed to work(No I had replaced this rear draileur at great cost two weeks earlier so you can imagine me being pissed off at this point). Get on the bike on Sunday am to peddle to the start and 100m down the road at the frist gear shift the chain jumps into the rear wheel between the spokes and the cassette. End of my race, I turn around pick up my bike and walk back to my hotel, the chain no so firmly wedged that the only way to get it out will be to remove the casette which not having a tool I cannot do. So whilst watch Money Maywheather giving Mosley a boxing lesson I carryfully start packing the bike now having had to remove the deraileur in order to remove the back wheel so that I can get the bike back into the bag, I carefull wrapped evrything so that nothing would scratch or move around, called the could deal taxi and arranged for a earlier pick up waited for my mate who no had to race on his own and then made my way to the airport. So upon arriving at the airport I go to Kulua's office and inform them that the broke my bike to which the only reply I got was EISH THIS IS A PROBLEM ,but your flight she is over sold and we will put you on a earlier flight and then when you get to Johannesburg, maybe, and that she is a very big maybe someone she will help you about this problem that we broke your bike. So I get back on the plane fly back and at JHB go to the BA / KULULA baggage claim counter to try and resolve this matter, to be told, EISH, THIS IS A PROBLEM, we can not help you, and we cannot accept any responsibility for you luggage, so even though you pay us to transport you and you luggage, and even though we will not allow you to take you bike as hand luggage so you can ensure that it is handled with due care we cannot accept any resposibility for the fact that we f?ck your bike up on the way to DBN and caused even more damage on the way back, that we assisted you in waisting your time and money to fly to DBN to sit in the City Lodge and watch Money MAyweather give Mosley a boxing leason, I could have done this at home for a lot less and even though you phone and mailed us we dont give a flying f?ck about your future business and as such will not respond to any of you calls or emails, we are a cheap airline, with cheap pricipals who would rather focus on witty advertising slogans that customer satidfaction, SO IF YOU ARE A CYCLIST WE WILL DAMAGE YOUR BIKE, DO IT FOR FREE AND THAN JUST NOT BOTHER TO GET BACK TO YOU ON THE MATTER
