  1. I liked the Chicken. Dirty as they come, but he went downhill like a man with two balls. That's not dope banking the bike for him.
  2. Yes I know what the Chicken took - a couple hundred thousand IU's of EPO and 5 blood bags was the main part of the list if I remember correctly. Did you read my post? Because your not addressing what I was saying. It still wasn't enough to win him the tour, because he didn't pay off the right people - namely the ones running the sport, and the best doping doctor in the business. LA had no talent for grand tours, but he managed to bribe, bully and pay his way to 7 yellow jersies. If any of you find that admirable I feel sorry for you.
  3. Didn't we arrive at the Lance subject because the bosses of cycling helped him win? I don't think everybody had access to that kind of dope.
  4. Poor Lance, a champ to the end. He won't send his yellow jersies back because at night he likes to cuddle them on his big couch. Plus they are great at wicking the moisture away from his puffy little eyes.
  5. moderators gone wild, abuse of power I say
  6. HARD TO TAKE YOU SERIOUSLY WITH SO MUCH LOWERCASE. NOT EVEN ONE EXCLAMATION MARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :nuke:
  7. Lanced sucked pre-dope. Only finished 3 out of 4 tours. On the grand tour stage he was a complete donkey. Actually 'pre-dope' is incorrect, as he was juicing then too. pre-Ferrari would be more accurate.
  8. Interesting that Ullrich mentions that LA was protected by the 'governing bodies'. Maybe there will be more about this on Monday when the full interview is published.
  9. Good call, or we could use the example of MTN winning Milan San Remo. Again, big sponsor money + private individual initiatives. Perhaps CSA was involved in some way in the development of those team members? Songezo Jim maybe? I think he came through Velokhaya though, which as far as I can tell is a Pick n' Pay initiative. So again, as far as I can see, no thanks to CSA. Maybe I'm wrong - feel free to correct me. CSA are fond of telling us they need our money to develop the sport. As far as I can see, the single biggest contribution to developing cycling, would be promoting a safe driving culture and teaching kids to ride safely in traffic. Even our World Champion mountain bikers are not safe training in this country. What kind of message does that send to the parents of kids who want to pursue cycling as a sport? There's no way we will build a significant pool of young talent when people are **** scared to ride their bikes. I will never let my teenage daughter cycle on our roads - even the quiet and 'safe' ones - unless I am there to ride behind her. Who spends money on road safety and cycling safety? PPA. Granted, they could be doing a lot more, but they're leagues ahead of CSA, who have no interest in this.
  10. I agree, I don't want to be involved with CSA on any level. As far as I can tell they've contributed nothing of value to my cycling experience commuting, racing or otherwise.
  11. No idea. I once looked for CSA at the Argus Expo as I had a licensed cat. query. Turns out they don't bother to show up there. I don't know what William or any of his colleagues do, apart from have photos taken with fat pat, and spout platitudes on UCI promo videos.
  12. Well perhaps this is off-topic, but I think I have to respond to how you have framed commuter cyclists here. As a bit of background, I did my first sub-3 argus on an 11kg steel bike, as a byproduct of commuting to work on it, with a 10kg backpack, over chappies, suikerbossie and camps bay drive, and back again. I have two cars and am always delighted to leave them in the garage and get on my bike, whether I'm training or riding to a meeting or doing some shopping. Hopefully the average SA mindset will evolve at some point and we'll all think along these lines - to the point where we no longer reject the bike as a means of transport because we live in fear of our car-driving alter-egos. I think bike commuters deserve more respect than the average lycra-clad cyclist. They have more balls doing what they are doing, and usually more skills on the bike too, honed through years of dodging idiots in cars.
  13. CSA needs our license money so they can send William Newman to have his salad tossed by LA bribe-taking, positive test burying, soon-to-be ex-UCI president Pat McQuaid. Does anyone know where I apply for a refund for my contribution?
  14. The best solution is basically don't be a **** - use one account to say what you mean. If you really need another online buddy then feel free to IM yourself or go make some new friends on Facebook.
  15. Most of SA runs off dynamic IP's - thanks to Telkom if I'm not mistaken. Anyways, as stated above blocking IP's is not a viable solution. However, if you're suspicious about duplicate accounts you can certainly use IP's to further your investigation.
  16. At last some good news http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/irish-cycling-clubs-vote-against-backing-mcquaid-for-uci-presidency
  17. Bit sad when you need 2 accounts on the hub. Sometimes when I read the *** written on here - my own and other peoples - I'm tempted to close the one account I do have.
  18. This has only served to ensure that I will NEVER pay Cycling South Africa one more cent of my cash. CSA, if any of you are reading this, please kill yourselves now.
  19. Fat Pat has been giving all of the outlying cycling knobs a good rimming in anticipation of needing their votes for his re-election campaign. To clarify, by this I mean he has been flying them over to Switzerland and giving them a good trousers-down arse licking - probably by way of introduction - as I doubt he's ever met most of them before. Here's our own SA cycling clown with ****-eating grin plastered firmly in place: http://www.uci.ch/Mo...614X49X12Page=4 Oman http://www.uci.ch/Mo...614X49X12Page=3 Africa http://www.uci.ch/Mo...614X49X12Page=4 Mozambique http://www.uci.ch/Mo...614X49X12Page=4 Uruguay http://www.uci.ch/Mo...614X49X12Page=5 Morocco (away visit - maybe he enjoys a good tagine) http://www.uci.ch/Mo...614X49X12Page=4 This is all in the last 3 months. There may be more. I started feeling bilious after 5 minutes wading through UCI press releases.
  20. Criminal that darts is not in the Olympics. John Lowe is still one of my favourite athletes, along with Giant Haystacks.
  21. The greens are lovely this time of year, lowers the cholesterol apparently
  22. ye, but the Cofidis guys didn't get Moncoutie. It sounds very much like he couldn't be bothered to charge up. The guy was happy just to ride his bike. No entry for him whatsoever on dopeology. Also, Gaumont said he was clean.
  23. Armstrong and Riis were both donkeys pre-EPO. Times have come down because of the bio-passport but guys are still micro-dosing and they're using different / new stuff as well. So in my opinion a slower peloton / climbing times only indicates that the new stuff is not quite as good as the old stuff. Also, nobody wants to bust out 7 w/kg any more, because the sports scientists will have your numbers on Twitter the next day and you'll have your own thread in the Clinic before you've had time to get back on your bike.
  24. Thanks Peter, interesting as always. In my opinion PPA has a duty to all cyclists, competitive or otherwise to spend a substantial amount of this money on driver / cyclist education and improving safety on our roads, whether that be lobbying for more cycling lanes, teaching kids to ride in traffic or promoting more tolerant and safer driving - many different ways to do it. The status quo with 200k per month going into investments whilst cyclists die every week on our roads with mind-numbing regularity, and our brightest cycling talent is no longer with us due to driver negligence - this is not good enough. The Argus is the source of most of this cash. An event born out of highlighting cycling safety. Ironically the start of the Argus Silly Season is now usually marked by a rapid increase in cyclists being hit by cars, somewhere around October / November as inexperienced riders flock to the roads. There's usually no let up until the event is over, and even then it seems we still have weekly cyclist deaths on the road.
