  1. Bump. Do PPA members really care this little about how their fees are spent? Please don't let me find any more threads complaining about PPA when nobody can be bothered to spend a few seconds voting on what a large (and I suspect quite large) repository of our own money should be spent on.
  2. 'my loyalty belongs to my leader, my team and my boss, that's it'
  3. What is the vagina-shaped orifice in front of the stem for?
  4. For sure we need to fix the problem in it's entirety. The media focuses on Lance because he made so much out of selling the fairy tale, made so little out of those who tried to uncover the reality behind the story.
  5. I agree, they should all come forward, but failing that the UCI leadership must go down and a fresh start be made at the top. It's not all about Lance. He elevated the game, he didn't invent it.
  6. Ja, taking trains, attacking the bunch and then hiding behind a rock to jump on the back of the chase, la bomba, booze and cheap speed that ended with you lying dead at the bottom of mont ventoux - it's all moved on a bit since then. Nowadays the dead guys lie in their hotel beds and nobody asks questions about how that came to be. Shall we let it lie and watch the sanitised, scheduled version of the event or try to do something about it now while we have the mandate and the public support?
  7. Philippe, he of the white hair dye during his best season of all time.
  8. I really think you should re-evaluate your stance here. This woman stood up for the truth before anyone else had the balls to do so, and did so at the risk of inviting exactly this type of judgement.
  9. He's more than riding, he's now the self-proclaimed anti-doping messiah and harbinger of righteousness. I have my doubts about his motives and even his recent performances. A bit late obviously, but good to hear from him all the same. He could have lied like so many others under oath chose to do. Admiration for being top of the pile - fair enough - but they made decisions that lowered the bar for many many years and which will be difficult for the sport to ever recover from. I accept the circumstances that led to their decision but do not accept that we cannot be permitted to take on board the truth before moving forward.
  10. Here's looking at you Philippe Gilbert. Or could that be the steroids?
  11. Sounds good, like I say no TV but I'll dl the pilot and check it out. I'm no Zombie expert but I liked the Simon Pegg movie where they get caught at the pub just as the zombie world order kicks in and have to make their way home without having their brains eaten.
  12. Big things coming for Jake, aged 19, from Clifton, Notts Dylan meets Oasis, with a dash of Creedence and a solid dose of midlands working class reality. http://player.vimeo.com/video/41991532
  13. Ja, I'm not sure how the show came over but if you read Tyler's book it's not all about pinning the doping on Lance. He comes across like a pretty lucid guy to me. In terms of culpability in the culture of the sport, in my opinion Lance just took it to another level. And this is, to some degree, understandable if you know the history and the circumstances. The problem is he consistently refuses to acknowledge it. I thought the 'apology that Lance Armstrong will never give' post was a good read. There's a back-story there that would go a long way to winning the fans back, but for whatever reason LA will never go there.
  14. Some of the posts I'm reading here are from guys who are shocked by info that has been discussed at length and generally been out in the open for over a decade. I don't have a TV but maybe it has a magical way of delivering a message that seals the deal
  15. Weird how some people need to have the tv tell them something before it's real. Is critical thinking really that dead?
  16. Maybe ask Kriek and Tarmac that question
  17. Anyone seen the South Park JC / LA episode yet? Funny stuff http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/vtboyt/belarus-bracelets
  18. Plus one for more money put into developing cycling. My opinion - unless PPA can come forward with a convincing argument - ie. a long term strategy - which is made available to members and justifies investing this cash - ie. receives backing from members, it should be put to work asap with a reserve fund set aside for one year of zero income. People are being knocked down and mugged NOW on our roads, with much more to come in the run-up to the Argus. Lets use the available funds to address this. Not to mention the lack of sponsorship for stage, league and fun races. Thanks for the poll Peter.
  19. I like the later, more enlightened posts by this blogger, especially this one which deals with Armstrong's attempts to get Washington lobbyists to derail USADA's charges at the congressional level, charges he opted not to contest. http://leastthing.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-us-congress-and-lance-armstrong.html Also this one http://leastthing.blogspot.com/2012/10/lance-armstrong-and-usadas-reasoned.html which ends with the obvious question Presumably any athlete innocent of doping charges would go to arbitration and easily demonstrate as such.
  20. I take issue with Gail's numbers - not sure where she dreamed those up. There are likely well over 40 cyclists per hour on this road. Cars must sit and wait until it is safe to overtake as the article says. Time for SA motorists to wake up and join the 21st century. They queue silently for the roadworks, but losing far less time to the odd bike is too much to tolerate.
  21. I'm really not sure what you're trying to say here. Are you a lawyer or a cyclist? Please provide a link to a non-partisan, non-ostrich, non-livestrong groupie, non LAF PR minion who is actually concerned about the legality of USADA's actions and the impact on the future of anti-doping efforts. I'd be interested to see that. Quite the opposite, what we're seeing now is a major bowel loosener for anybody relying on drugs to compete and that's a great, great thing. The culture of the sport is under major scrutiny right now and I'm quite pleased about that. I will not lose any sleep over legal wranglings or sponsors taking flight. The truth has been there for all to see for many many years and it's finally reached a tipping point.
  22. If you want to do something significant for cycling, donate to the Kimmage fairness fund so that when he takes Fat Pat and Hein to court, they get the royal shafting they deserve and are never allowed to work in cycling again. Here's the link : http://www.chipin.co...db2e4ecaa6ad4fd Context here: http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/13195/Kimmage-counter-attacks-by-suing-Verbruggen-and-McQuaid-in-Swiss-courts.aspx Crying crocodile tears for Lance over legal process will get you, me and everybody else on two wheels absolutely nowhere.
  23. How did you arrive at that conclusion? I condone the agency that Armstrong signed up to be subject to, doing it's job. I condone all of the legal processes that are burning down the lies and flushing out the truth after years and years of cheating so entrenched in the culture of the sport, that to not take drugs at the tour was considered unprofessional or just plain stupid.
  24. Please. Fairness has nothing to do with this. Is anybody seriously suggesting that road cycling is / was more fair the way Armstrong and his contemporaries played it, than the process that seeks to change that modus operandi? Blood transfusions, drug use regarded as 'professionalism' and doctors winning the team MVP award every single year is not a sport I will support. Is anybody seriously suggesting that either this was / is not the case, or perhaps you mean to say that this is all fine and dandy and we must be nicer to Lance and leave him and all his teammates and doctors alone to carry on? As you were guys. Sorry the US anti drugs agency did it's job. That really wasn't fair at all. Lets start a fairness fund to buy some more EPO for the peloton and make a few more donations to Fat Pat and Hein the Swein.
  25. Quite a solid return on investment for all of that EPO, shown in part here: http://www.luxist.com/2009/01/11/lance-armstrongs-texas-ranch-estate-of-the-day/ Kind of puts my league Cyclelab vouchers into perspective.
