Had a chat to Jacques @ Avnic today quite helpful have hooked up the unit as per instructions from Jacques on the garmap website. According to the site my unit is ok and already has the latest software v.3.20. Well I will check if it is working later when/if I get onto the indoor trainer. I am having so many problems it just aint funny anymore :-( love the unit when it works but often can't get it on after charging the whole night put it on the bike and nothing happens very frustrating. Now the heart rate monitor won't pick up on the unit either spent way to much money on batteries already and now some arseholes have stolen my cable to download my data when they broke into my office. Oh and by the way this is my second unit as Avnic replaced it once before for doing the same sh!t.Dirty Twin2009-11-25 10:47:00

As a matter of interest the Shifters and the brakes are totally independant components you can use any combination together i.e. Sram shifters Shimano brakes, Sram Shifters Hayes brakes and the list goes on and on.

Yeah I am also curious!! Please advise why they won't work. I have Sram X-9 with Avid Elixir 5's and they work perfectly. Just a question don't Sram also own Avid???
