Yup, I must confess that I now know more than most about brussels sprouts, having googled them after the ride! Part of the cabbage family. Here's a closer pic.

Howzit wheelz! We ride every wednesday, weather permitting so pm me or give me a call. I am keen to ride any time, but wednesday is always a given. We rode towards S/bosch on the R44, took Annandale Rd, then through farmland past the Faure waterworks, through Dellrust and then up through the vineyards next to Steynsrust Rd. The plan is to combine this loop with a Helderberg loop when the days are a bit longer. This will give us a ride of about 45km with a fair mix of climbing, singletrack descent and faster open roads.

....and your prize is.....some nice fresh brussels sprouts!

Came across this field on a ride in the southern Cederberg recently. We were lucky enough to get permission to ride on private property, and were surprised to find this on a plateau. The clue is in the topic title, anybody know what the crop is?

Christened my hub kit yesterday on the MTB, didn't feel like getting on the roadbike with all the new potholes. Within 2km my clothes were muddy as hell. Sorry wolverine! Busy soaking them in woolite now!

Just got a call from home to say mine has arrived! Aaaaarrrggghhh! Damn, now I gotta wait until 5pm to see how it fits!

Nobody home yesterday when they tried to deliver mine . Phoned them and they say they will deliver today .

Is the spruit that bad these days? I moved to the cape in '89. As a schoolkid I spent most of my afternoons buggering around there and it was great fun and totally safe. Sign of the times in SA I guess. On the commuting topic, I'm preparing to start commuting by bike myself, but only once or twice a week. Gotta just get on the bike one day and try it, but waiting for the days to get longer.

There is actually accommodation in the poort too, think the cottage is called "Aristata" or something like that.
