  1. Having scanned through most of the pages of this thread (it digressed at one stage to a discussion on wound treatment), all I can say is that I am glad that somebody else is making noise about this. Somebody PLEASE give us a contact number for someone in charge of the acsis riders.
  2. Tankman, what 4 passes ride did you do if you went over Du Toits Kloof Pass?
  3. EPO?
  4. Sabre, please keep me informed, just found this thread and I can possibly join you guys.
  5. Slowbee, I think stay left. That way you are more visible to oncoming cars, and don't have the problem of being hit by a driver taking a tight line through the corner. Also, you won't have to work through the traffic to move left after the intersection as you will already be on the left.
  6. Sounds like you are successfully lightening your wallet too.
  7. So us SW people can meet you guys at Waterstone Village at 7am then?
  8. Great post there Tarmac, have just read the whole thread now. I was planning to ride Atlantic seaboard this afternoon, but decided to give it a miss due to the fog and the fact that I don't have my tail light with me. Positive thread this, let's hope that we can improve our image with motorists. It will take time to undo the damage being done by those irresponsible and inconsiderate cyclists, but it will hopefully happen!
  9. Agreed! I won't stop using powerlinks as a result of this, it just reinforces the need to carry a spare. Must be one of those things that just happens from time to time.
  10. I rotate 2 chains, and my bike has only done about 2500km, so I doubt that the link is worn. As for incorrectly installed, I don't see how that is possible. I can only guess that if it didn't break then perhaps the dusty conditions caused it to get sticky and somehow resist the chain tension holding the pin in the thin part of the keyhole. It was a bumpy descent, but no worse than others I've done recently.
  11. Yesterday I went for a ride on the Helderberg, and after a long bumpy descent when I started pedalling again I discovered that my chain was missing. Eish! I pushed my bike back up the hill, and eventually found the chain lying in the dirt. The powerlink was missing, both halves of it. It obviously either failed or managed to work loose. I didn't think it was possible for it to work loose. Fortunately I always ride with a spare, so i wasn't left standed in the bush. Has anybody else had a similar problem with a powerlink?

    Bike test

Yup, it's at Delvera as far as I know. It's on the same weekend as the ladies workshop, mid feb.
  13. Sounds good to me BMC, I will be at Waterstone at whatever time we agree on.
  14. Terrible news. R.I.P. Craig

    argus route

Another Argus thread, who was keeping tabs on how many there would be? Still just over a month for more to pop up! Great news about Chappies though!
  16. ...................a lekker ride?
  17. Great news indeed that it will be the REAL Argus, Boyes Drive or not!
  18. PMS it is then Slowbee! Still got to do my course, which only starts in 2 weeks. I'm thinking it's going to be only in april that I can get myself sorted. Interesting times.
  19. Just pulling your leg dude, wait and see, after the Argus people will hopefully be keen for more long, scenic rides. More people are going to sign up for this ride!
  20. BMC, having given it some thought, I think Gordon's Bay is a better option with wider, smoother roads. When I ride through SLP Village it's normally on my MTB so the narrow road is no problem because when I hear traffic behind me I hop off onto the gravel. Also, SLP Village has no traffic lights for Fand so he may find it a bit tame. Slowbee, stop being a girl!
  21. Wow, going to be a nice big group!
  22. Those are big shoes to fill!
