  1. I have a friend that did the very first Munga in 2015...he was also the first to enter with his race number being "1" Over the last 2 to 3 months we have trained together each weekend and I can not remember one training session that we did NOT speak about MUNGA!!! - from day 2 of MUNGA EVERY bit of his body was hurting...even his earlobes...LOL - falling asleep while riding...classic and priceless...luckily not getting hurt - burnt from the sun and having a TAN LINE 8 months after the race... - his lips were SO burnt and blistered from the sun...very painful...having the correct Lip Meds is very important in the Karoo sun and heat... - etc...etc...too many stories... It is such a great race that he can not stop talking about it...and he WANTS to go back and do THE MUNGA. this IS A LIFE CHANGING EVENT as far as I can gather...do not even THINK that it is not...THIS IS THE RACE TO DO... Hope and prey I can also do it one day...even BETTER would be to do it together with Wessel one day Go and enjoy guys and gals...you might not have fun for the whole 5 days, but completing the Munga will probably be in your top 5 awesome things you will do in your life EDIT: spelling
  2. NICE thank you might just be there...
  3. I MUST AGREE with this...if I am really looking for something, I DO THE SEARCH THING!!! I found an awesome Full Carbon bike about a year ago...person had the add up for about 3 weeks before I saw and replied. The price was quite a bit higher than what it was worth at the time (FIRST TIME SELLER) hence I think the reason for the bike not being sold yet. Was in the market for a bike, BUT the funds were not all in place yet. Contacted the seller and he confirmed the bike is still available (I was stoked). Negotiated on the price and he said I could get it for R5k lower than advertised, bargain (I said to myself) Took it for a test ride (at his house) and I was sold on the deal, felt like a little KID again Discussed the deal and said I would have the total funds in about 2 weeks...I gave him a small deposit and seller agreed to keep the the bike. Came back 2 weeks later with the rest of the cash and picked up the bike. Got a huge bargain @ R10k (add was for R15K) - it was a ROAD bike and he was more into MTB training and races...bike was hanging in his garage for about 2 years...you could SEE the cranks have barely been "cranked" and I would guess the bike had about 100-200km's If I did not search, then I would not have seen this bike!!!
  4. I do agree with this completely... Saw a bike on The Hub a few weeks ago for R20k and it was a year older than my wife's bike which we sold 3 years ago for R8,5k...apparently the bike shop said it's worth R20k Also saw another add for a 2nd hand FD 7900 (10-speed) being sold for more than a new 11-speed FD...apparently if it says DURA ACE it's worth any asking price But if you know the 2nd hand market price then you would not be caught out and will either move along and wait for another item at a market related price, or offer the person what you think it is worth... Also "that time of the year" and will be easier to sell something closer to 94.7 or Argus times (Road bike related)...MTB is fairly whole year round type of market, although some people hibernate a little Also less disposable income around these days...but then again there are R80k +++ bikes being sold
  5. On my "Bucket-list" for sure go and enjoy guys and gals...VERY jealous. maybe in a year or 2 I will go and enjoy it with you
  6. JIP also only EVVA won the Mugg and Bean / Smoothie spin...do not know what the others even mean...but we still go on hoping, maybe next time we can get the R100 or even a breakfast...
  7. I have always been a Perelli motor vehicle tyre fan...would LOVE to use the road bike tyres and see what they are made of...Welcome in SA.
  8. AWESOME thank you for the feedback...this is great news and I will make sure to SYNC my app tonight before midnight.
  9. Hi Frosty and Shaper, Got a question and I am sure you would know the answer to this - otherwise I can phone Discovery and make sure: My points for "steps" normally take a day or 2 to reflect on my points calculation. I sometimes use the "step" points in between the days I can not get on the saddle. This week has been tough to train with my son's stuff at school and work obligations, etc. If I have 800 points today and need 900 points to achieve my GOAL and I walk 10 000 steps today for 100 points, would that reflect tomorrow, or Sunday as "goal achieved"? Or do I have to have 900 points by 23h59 tonight to reflect as "goal achieved"?? Thanx for any feedback
  10. Got another Cappuccino coffee in my "BONUS" spin...happy days are here again LOL At least my wife is happy about that...
  11. Hi Frosty, Not sure if it has been mentioned...but on Cycle Events the closing date is 24 October 12:00 and on your site it says that ONLINE ENTRIES HAVE NOW CLOSED - which is correct?
  12. Jip...that will also just help dampen the mood
  13. I did the update and does not go over to any "wheel spinning"...guess I am not a lucky winner
  14. You only need someone to give YOU ALONE a lift (from Em'seni to Windmill Farm), because your bike and bags would already be at the Registration point / Windmill farm. I know it might not be an option IF YOU CAN NOT get a lift from Emseni to Windmill, but if possible you could try the following steps - or maybe the organizers could have the Church plan this in the future and still make some money as a fundraiser with a Kombi or a small bus and travel back and forth 2 or 3 times: 1. Drive to Windmill Farm / start / registration. 2. Register and get goodies / bike number / etc. 3. Drop off bikes at safe and secure BIKE PARK (Windmill Farm) 4. Take overnight bags / clothes / Gu's / water bottles, etc. etc. to overnight tent (Windmill Farm). 5. Drive vehicle from Windmill Farm / start / registration to Em'seni (+/- 50-60km's). 6. Get a lift BACK to start / Windmill farm via Kombi / Bus / Lift (just you, because bikes and bags are already at Windmill Farm). 7. Put your overnight bag on the truck next morning. 8. Get your your bike and enjoy the ride. 9. Done and dusted. 10. If this fails...drive with Buddy's vehicle...LOL Sure...you are welcome to discuss this with the organizers / or make a suggestion for future B&B races...I am SURE you are not the only one having this issue!!! Good luck and enjoy the race that FIRST DAY is AWESOME...pace yourself, can be a LONG day in the saddle!!!
  15. Might be a solution for you...IF YOU COULD GET A LIFT BACK TO THE START (Windmill Farm) FROM EM'SENI the day of registration - drop your bike at the start (registration), take all your goodies needed for the next day and overnight bag to your tent. Take your vehicle to Em'seni and get the lift back to the start...not sure how many people do the trip between Em'seni and the Start? Might also be a solution for the organizers to have a bus / combi in the future doing this and running back and forth, but the R450 raised goes to a good cause, so not sure if that would change for a while...
  16. Agreed...I would pay R540 ANY day to be able to ride around the Peninsula, without any vehicles and with people on bikes that share the same love for Cycling as I do...MTB or Road bikes...whatever happens next year on race day, we will be there to enjoy the break from the daily hustle and bustle and also the beauty Cape Town has to offer
  17. LOL...we have a similar harness (Blue thing bought at Makro)...the people always point and laugh at us, BUT at least he is not taking over the mall and we have him fairly "under control". and the sitcom story is SO the same we love relaxing with sitcoms / comedy, but we end up falling asleep and wake up around 11h00-01h00 and just wonder what happened and then switch off all the lights and tv...LOL...and then TRY to fall asleep again PS - admin is going to tell us all to start our own forum page
  18. Thanx HBO we are not perfect, but some things can help with a child development and future...we can only try hope it helps...
  19. BRACE YOURSELVES
  20. Our son is also "one of those" that does NOT sit still for long enough to gather any dust (LOL), seriously one of my family members has a son (half the age of our son) and he sits quite in church and even mostly at home...I told him the other day that he is VERY lucky, our little monster is TOO busy ...we are both so tired once he is bathed and in bed, feels like heaven when we go and relax - but on the other side we are just happy he is healthy and enjoys playing outside and looks like you have just washed a Grizzly Bear when looking at his bath water some other friends kids sit in front of computers / tablets / tv and their lives pass them by...we try and let our son do "normal" things we used to do when we were young...he has enough time to watch tv and play games when he is older.
  21. Yes I think some guys and gals are not so "eager beaver" to enter for 2018. Also had friends on the line yesterday that did NOT enter again, but after receiving their mail for the extension to 03 October they are thinking about entering again LOL If I can remember correctly a few years ago we all sat and waited for the entries to open and it was sold out in a matter of hours...? The good old days...
  22. It is a brand NEW route, FACE PLANT mentioned they would ride the route some time and check distance, etc, maybe he could assist
  23. Also done and dusted
  24. Nothing yet...will check with our IT department, it might be stuck in outer space
