  1. Great idea...maybe start with the Bigger brand cycle shops and work the database down to the smaller bike shops / repairs...the database can also be made public to Hubbers for future sales via OLX / Junk mail, etc.
  2. I agree...very sad news and lives changed forever...RIP fellow cyclist!
  3. Nee wat...my kinders sal Afrikaans groot word en Engels as 2de taal hĂȘ. It may also depend if you're from the Country side or raised in the City? Or even in which city... Baie interessant dat die Afrikaans en Engels op The Hub amper dieselfde hoeveelheid is at the end of the day...Cycling Rules and The Hub guys always stick together and show what they are worth when someone is in need of something, or someone needs to be helped...this is confirmed on a daily basis here on The Hub!!!
  4. Thanx...should be covered then
  5. LOL...I guess when the little one is there (at end March)...then the training will increase...ha ha ha...just to get out of the house hey??? :whistling: LOL...or that's when he will start waking up in the mornings...no need for an alarm clock
  6. LOL...thanx, no we just have a little one on the way and have not done much training and races and would not want to fall to the back groups of 94.7 just because I missed the seeding races...also not gonna have "much" sleep and training to come...ha ha ha...so NO dreams of a sub-3...LOL Thanx for the feedback...done Macsteel and Ride4Sight, so should be okay...also planning to do D2D and Race4Victory Could not find any seeding info on the Cycle challenge site...thanx again for the help!!!
  7. Does anybody have the seeding events for this year's 94.7 Cycle Challenge? Or do they just use your latest RaceTec results? PS - date confirmed (as per website) = 16 November 2014
  8. Blerrie Idiots!!! We train early in the mornings...and everybody has front and back lights...with 20 to 40 cyclists on the road, it looks like a construction site gone bad with all the Back red lights flashing and 1000 + Lumins lights in the front...LOL
  9. Nybody have the GROUP starting times yet please? Thx
  10. I also have 172.5mm on ROAD and 175mm on MTB. I spoke to a friend a while back in connection with different crank lengths...he said it's better to have a longer crank (175mm) for the hills (more power and leverage with a bigger diameter pedal stroke??)...therefor maybe the longer crank length on a MTB?? Maybe more power into the pedal stroke for the MTB's?? I am not a foondie on the Mathematical Scientifics of the statement he made... Maybe someone can confirm...or "crank" this statement into the ground...LOL
  11. 1. In terms of the VAT refund: should the VAT be claimed back in Germany (at Customs when leaving on the plane back to SA) or when you return in Joburg at Customs?? 2. If the claim is then only done in SA, then should you declare it at CUSTOMS in Germany before leaving? ***Should be able to supply original INVOICE from Germany of item purchased "I presume"?? Thanx for the help...

  14. Back from the Expo and after a bit of a wait at number collection he he he...did not have much time to do the whole walkies around the flee-market...not TOO many bikes on display...the usual bike shops with some specials...USN is always a nice stop around with some goodies...saw some AWESOME ZIPP wheels at one of the stands (NOT one of the normal biks shops) and 101's are on special for +/- R9,600 "they are on my Christmas wishlist!!!!!!"...if you have more time it should be worthwile...I didn't need much stuff for Sunday, so the legs did a blistering walk around the usual crowd...did not see any REAL specials to blow the bank...BUT it depends on what you are looking for take more time and stroll around... THe Choc Cows were right at the end...around the corner to the right...close to the food court...got some nice goodies there...always enjoy supporting those guys... Best of luck on Sunday and enjoy the ride around Jozy...looking forward to it be safe out there!!!
  15. Maybe some SCHWEEEEET specials from the oaks that don't want to do road racing anymore LOL
  16. I saw these freakin AWESOME 101 Zipps @ the Expo today for +/- R9,600 (not sure at what stand, but it was in the second row - I think...was NOT at Solomons or the normal bike shop stands)... they are on MY wishlist!!!
  17. Thanx for the tip Rudo will have a look-out for the raffle ticket on that schweet CUBE
  18. LOL...will do...taking R50 for a pair or 2 of the Choc Cows socks ha ha ha...just kidding, not only there for the Choc socks... will be keeping my eyes peeled for something SWEET!!!
  19. Number collection for the Road race has begun...yeay!!! will be visiting later today hope there are some goodies on SPECIAL
  20. LOL tough choices Paul Not sure if you mentioned it before...what bike and spec do you currently have??
  21. sorry...yes that is my verdict (previous post edited) I am a bit one sided on this because me and the missus have only owned Merida bikes and very happy..."value for money" they are hard to beat...but that's only my opinion and like I said, I have never ridden a Scott Foil, so there will be others that disagree with me...my current bike is a Scultura 905 (2013) and it feels better up the hills than my previous bike... more responsive and standing out of the saddle is a pleasure... ...on the flats she keeps up with the rest (until my legs give in...he he he) I really enjoy this Scultura...and can't wait for the 2014 bikes to go on sale next year to make way for the 2015 stock...ha ha ha... If you can...give them both a ride...YOU will have to be the proud owner WITH the Flex-Stay design on the Scultura, it does have a nice ride and not that harsh on the body...
  22. With a saving of R1k for the Merida and the Ultegra groupset (Shifters, RD and FD) instead of FOIL with 105, I would not even think twice to take the MERIDA, but as the other guys mention...try to go for a test ride with both...have not ridden a FOIL yet sorry. To upgrade from 105 to Ultegra you might look at between R5k and R8 to R10k later on (depending if you can find a decent groupset on the HUB for around R5k or a new set at a shop for the higher price...at the end of the day it's what is best for you...and what you want...and even the looks if you really want to compare, then take the FOIL and the Scultura 904 (Blue and White) "BOTH" with 105 components: Foil = R19k Scultura = R14 to 15k (just to compare...not suggesting this) It looks like the FOIL has a standard crank (53/39)??? And the Scultura has a compact crank (50/34) 95% of the decision comes down to: Once a SCOTT, always a SCOTT...once a MERIDA, always a MERIDA good luck with the choices!!!
  23. Sent you a mail...Merida ALL the way...Ultegra over 105 any day...and for a similar price...Merida / Ultegra combination is worth it!!! I agree...phone Jacques or Chris @ Cycle Factory...they are in the Cape and just depends on the size you want...they might have stock of the 905 (the Price according to their website is R 18,470 each). Enjoy...keep well.
  24. If you are in Maxwell Drive and you drive towards the R55...pass the traffic circle onward to R55 road...the entrances to the Polo parking would be on your right hand side...try to enter as far down as possible (field market with a "2"). If possible try to stop just on the inside of the Polo parking (just off Maxwell drive)...this will give you easy access to Maxwell and then just take the road down to the traffic lights and right onto the R55 towards the Starting Pens if they maybe changed the parking or have other access roads / entrances / exits then just follow the crowd or ask someone there...normally VERY easy to get to the starting pens from there...we just "winged" it the first year for parking and it was a breeze The best would be to plan your trip so that you're about 1 and half hours there before (so in your case +/- 8h30)...you never know what can happen (especially with traffic) and it's best to be early...the starting pens could be a good 15 to 20 minutes walk / ride (depending on where you parked)...and it's best to be in your pen about 20 to 30 minutes before hand (also to get some "vibe" and NOT be rushed and you never know if you need to visit the LOO or have a puncture before the start...or whatever... just to be safe...be there at 8h00 AM...
