So more en Saterdag behoort 'n BREEZE te wees geniet dit en veilig wees...BAIE lus vir Sondag en gaan dit net geniet... wat die tyd op die einde gaan wees sal ons maar sien he he he...net lus vir 'n lekker dag op die fiets SONDER enige verkeer en gemors karre en mense en taxi's wat mens wil omry ek betaal my R355 enige tyd en staan vir 2 ure in die rye om my nommer te kry...geen issues...wens elke wedren was FULL ROAD CLOSURE!!! Geniet dit raak by die minuut meer opgewonde en lus om Sondag op my ou 2 wiel te klim
  3. Back from the Expo and after a bit of a wait at number collection he he he...did not have much time to do the whole walkies around the flee-market...not TOO many bikes on display...the usual bike shops with some specials...USN is always a nice stop around with some goodies...saw some AWESOME ZIPP wheels at one of the stands (NOT one of the normal biks shops) and 101's are on special for +/- R9,600 "they are on my Christmas wishlist!!!!!!"...if you have more time it should be worthwile...I didn't need much stuff for Sunday, so the legs did a blistering walk around the usual crowd...did not see any REAL specials to blow the bank...BUT it depends on what you are looking for take more time and stroll around... THe Choc Cows were right at the end...around the corner to the right...close to the food court...got some nice goodies there...always enjoy supporting those guys... Best of luck on Sunday and enjoy the ride around Jozy...looking forward to it be safe out there!!!
  4. Maybe some SCHWEEEEET specials from the oaks that don't want to do road racing anymore LOL
  5. I saw these freakin AWESOME 101 Zipps @ the Expo today for +/- R9,600 (not sure at what stand, but it was in the second row - I think...was NOT at Solomons or the normal bike shop stands)... they are on MY wishlist!!!
  6. Thanx for the tip Rudo will have a look-out for the raffle ticket on that schweet CUBE
  7. LOL...will do...taking R50 for a pair or 2 of the Choc Cows socks ha ha ha...just kidding, not only there for the Choc socks... will be keeping my eyes peeled for something SWEET!!!
  8. Number collection for the Road race has begun...yeay!!! will be visiting later today hope there are some goodies on SPECIAL
  9. LOL tough choices Paul Not sure if you mentioned it before...what bike and spec do you currently have??
  10. sorry...yes that is my verdict (previous post edited) I am a bit one sided on this because me and the missus have only owned Merida bikes and very happy..."value for money" they are hard to beat...but that's only my opinion and like I said, I have never ridden a Scott Foil, so there will be others that disagree with me...my current bike is a Scultura 905 (2013) and it feels better up the hills than my previous bike... more responsive and standing out of the saddle is a pleasure... ...on the flats she keeps up with the rest (until my legs give in...he he he) I really enjoy this Scultura...and can't wait for the 2014 bikes to go on sale next year to make way for the 2015 stock...ha ha ha... If you can...give them both a ride...YOU will have to be the proud owner WITH the Flex-Stay design on the Scultura, it does have a nice ride and not that harsh on the body...
  11. With a saving of R1k for the Merida and the Ultegra groupset (Shifters, RD and FD) instead of FOIL with 105, I would not even think twice to take the MERIDA, but as the other guys mention...try to go for a test ride with both...have not ridden a FOIL yet sorry. To upgrade from 105 to Ultegra you might look at between R5k and R8 to R10k later on (depending if you can find a decent groupset on the HUB for around R5k or a new set at a shop for the higher price...at the end of the day it's what is best for you...and what you want...and even the looks if you really want to compare, then take the FOIL and the Scultura 904 (Blue and White) "BOTH" with 105 components: Foil = R19k Scultura = R14 to 15k (just to compare...not suggesting this) It looks like the FOIL has a standard crank (53/39)??? And the Scultura has a compact crank (50/34) 95% of the decision comes down to: Once a SCOTT, always a SCOTT...once a MERIDA, always a MERIDA good luck with the choices!!!
  12. Sent you a mail...Merida ALL the way...Ultegra over 105 any day...and for a similar price...Merida / Ultegra combination is worth it!!! I agree...phone Jacques or Chris @ Cycle Factory...they are in the Cape and just depends on the size you want...they might have stock of the 905 (the Price according to their website is R 18,470 each). Enjoy...keep well.
  13. If you are in Maxwell Drive and you drive towards the R55...pass the traffic circle onward to R55 road...the entrances to the Polo parking would be on your right hand side...try to enter as far down as possible (field market with a "2"). If possible try to stop just on the inside of the Polo parking (just off Maxwell drive)...this will give you easy access to Maxwell and then just take the road down to the traffic lights and right onto the R55 towards the Starting Pens if they maybe changed the parking or have other access roads / entrances / exits then just follow the crowd or ask someone there...normally VERY easy to get to the starting pens from there...we just "winged" it the first year for parking and it was a breeze The best would be to plan your trip so that you're about 1 and half hours there before (so in your case +/- 8h30)...you never know what can happen (especially with traffic) and it's best to be early...the starting pens could be a good 15 to 20 minutes walk / ride (depending on where you parked)...and it's best to be in your pen about 20 to 30 minutes before hand (also to get some "vibe" and NOT be rushed and you never know if you need to visit the LOO or have a puncture before the start...or whatever... just to be safe...be there at 8h00 AM...
  14. Posted a map for you (and others above)...found it on http://www.cyclechallenge.co.za/Home/cyclechallenge or on the site go to "DOWNLOADS" and click on "VENUE MAP" ...you will find it there...good luck!!! PS - POLO parking is not that bad...been using it for 2 years and fairly close to the start...it's better if you get there early!!!
  15. See file attached...hope it helps Parking map 94.7.pdf
  16. Jip that's flying low some of our Club riders also get to those kinda times...but for our mere mortals we get through in around 2h40 to 3h00 depending on the wind (and how many beers are in the back pockets...he he he) ...still a GREAT ride and one of the best places to train in Gauteng...climbing +/- 1100 meters (I think) in such a short ride eina!!!
  17. Well done Morne 2:57 is an awesome solo time!!! Glad you got up and nothing serious happened
