  1. just to get the definitions right, so that I know if I must look up to or down on myself - I'm in the Cape and ride mostly at Contermans, Welvanpas, Table Mountain (jeeps tracks & single tracks), Tokai (same as TM), Jonkershoek. What type of riding is that XCO, AM,?
  2. excuse my ignorance, but what is rawwed?

    Smelly Kit

    thanks, I'll try that.
  5. Anyone have the problem of smelly cycling tops. My tops (mostly First Ascent) come out of the wash and before I put them on they already have that "I haven't showered for 3 days" smell. Any suggestions?

sorry, one more thing. What about bringing the bike back - is it easy enough to repack the bike yourself?

can you give me the name of that shop that does the bike packing - I'm riding in the Himalayas in October for 11 days and taking bike along - same airline.
  9. actually I think it's been proven that interval training is better for weight loss than long periods at 70 - 75%.
  10. they calculate 70% of MHR because they are saying this is what you should train at. nothing wrong with their maths. there advice on HR targets is a different matter...
  11. ya best interest rate. just make sure you don't pay it off over the 20 year bond period.
  12. fook it. where are the other scratches on that frame? you're not riding hard/fast enough...
  13. Agreed. Fizik Tundra is crap hard. Had mine for 2 years and was in pain on every ride. Replaced it with a Specialized Avatar (R850) and haven't felt any discomfort since.

    Bigger tyres

Maxxis Crossmark + Joe's Sealant. Got my first puncture in 2 years a week ago.
  15. the Trans Provence is very much geared towards downhill riding. They drive to the highest points to maximise the amount of downhill. There is also a race and a tour - the tour being for less serious dudes.Definitely on my bucket list. 14k plus 7 to 8 k for a flight makes it more than worthwhile. Also you stay in hotels not tents.
  16. agreed. I'm doing 11 days in the foothills of the Himalayas later this year - lots of single track - for R18500 including flights
  17. just bought a pair on shimano mt43 mtb shoes from CRC for R660.00. best local price Buycycle R800.00 plus about R75 for shipping. Plus ordered some other stuff from CRC as well and got R145 further discount. Got someone bringing the stuff over for me as well so no import duties either.
  18. i always thought doing "silly" things was what made mountain biking fun...
  19. keep existing bike and do Trans-Provence and a trip to Whistler...
