  1. like most of us
  2. I like the entrepreneurial spirit, we need more like you, small business's creating jobs. I say go for it, you are still young and can afford to make some mistakes (& you will)................but I also agree with the studying (which you already said you want to do anyway). Good luck and all the best, as I do think the market is big enough in SA for a few more good bike shops.
  3. I am normally between L & XL, but bought a Giant short sleever XXL....feel like Hulk trying to get out of a shirt...next time XXXL The point, if it is too tight now & you can take it back, do it & get a bigger size, as they don't come cheap!
  4. You are where I was a few weeks back. I went for the Scott Spark 29er Team (as no Elites available). I am loving it (but have not ridden a silverback before so cannot judge). One bike shop owner said to me (if this helps), "these days there are no bad bikes" (when comparing across a price range). Personally though Silver back was not a choice for me (weight consideration was important for me, but not to the point of getting a carbon fibre option)
  5. I always find youtube helpfull....see link below for self service help http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=rock+shock+service&oq=rock+shock+servic&aq=0w&aqi=q-w1&aql=&gs_l=youtube-psuggest.3.0.33i21.3331.8529.0.10117.17.16.0.0.0.0.583.2753.2-2j2j2j1.7.0...0.0.
  6. Hi all, thanks to all those that helped....I ended up with the Scott Team, as belive it or not nobody but nobody could get me a Scott Elite XL (in fact the bike shops said stock is a real issue & if they had more stock they would make more sales) based on the advice I was willing to spend the extra for the extra. Maybe for my next upgrade I will have more patience to wait around. I took my new bike out to the vlei track in Alberton, it was great, but I need to adjust my shocks (it was agony...extremely hard shocks, almost no absorbtion) Thanks again to those that contributed
  7. Spoke to Greg at Kyalami...................checking for stock on the Elite
  8. thanks to all. I will check out the availability & price on the elite & then make a decision........thanks again
  9. Scotty, what is the issue with the rims...I weight in at 102kg & I am already concerned about the larger diameter flex (as told by another bike shop who does not reccomend 29ers due to this issue, especially when taking tight corners at speed, he has gone back to 26) jeez nothing is simple anymore, my scorpion BMX I had as a kid went through anything haha
  10. thanks V I will give them a call, here is another hopefully better format on the spec comp (is this really worth the additional just short of R4K) did not work......but basically the question is, is this "better" equipment worth the additional ZAR's, which I suppose you already answered....but why...does it respond better...durable...etc

  15. Hi, does anyone have an opinion on a MTB that I am just about to buy Scott spark 29 Team for R15400 is it a good bike? do you think it's a good price? any opinion or help would be appreciated
  16. Hi all.....I know most are saying, sh@t not another new MTB bike topic...so I will understand if some don't help out, but for those that will, I am looking to upgrade. Currently I have a diamond back MTB hard tail I wieght in at a staggering 100kg, & am 1.9m tall (big boy) I enjoy riding on the road, pavements & offroad trails...no races yet I am looking to upgrade to a full suspension bike with 29" wheels I am willing to spend +/- R20K (which started out at R10K, but cannot find much in full suspension) I have looked around and have a liking to the following brands in that price range, Trek Ghost Giant KTM I have not seen any, cannondale, specialized, meridia, etc at any of the 4 shops I have been to (so not sure if I should be going out of my way to check out these other brands as well). I suppose the real question will be, is the one better than the other or are they all much of a muchness when you are looking in a certain price range, so then it will come down to preference on design and paint job!?! Hope you can help, thanks.
