  1. Well done Hayley. I have belonged to many forums over the years, as and when my sport of choice has changed & there is always a lot of banter on newbies, controversial posts, etc....but what I have seen in some of the posts in the last few days really does not make me want to be associated with some of the bikers on this forum. Show some respect guys.
  2. Agreed, Modderfontein is nice for my wife.
  3. hey that's my favourite pastime (bunny hopping sidewalks)
  4. Count yourself lucky to only have a little squeak at the rear, my brakes (Avid Elixer's) sound like a coffee grinder, front & rear....on one ride my front wheel eventually came loose from all the break neck braking.
  5. Homested Dam in Benoni.........but wear a frigging 10mm wetsuit, man!!
  6. Agreed, I am all ears what do you think "we" should do to make a real difference?
  7. Huh, cant belive you guys are going there!?!, when I was 10 I was out on my bike in the streets till late every day after school. Our kids should be allowed to enjoy this freedom as well......but they cannot.....so at least in a fenced entry paid controlled area one should be able to do this. Don't now start trying to make it the parents fault
  8. That is really bad, in a secure area!!! ridiculous
  9. Good luck.
  10. Great thanks...what are you packing your bike in a box?
  11. Why deflate tyres? what is a bomb?
  12. There was an old topic way back in 2006. I am flying to EL in the next few weeks & want to take my 29er MTB. Does anyone have some advise on how best I should transport my MTB & are there any limitations with SAA.
  13. that's dissapointing, but need to tick it off my list (& check if it is easy enough for my wif..as she has started and thought groenkloof was tooooo technical!)
  14. Velcro
  15. Funny, I also rode Groenkloof (but on Saturday) & also came out at around 14km's. I then rode it again, same thing, 14km's.....maybe just do it twice. There does seem to be a couple of options, as at most intersections there are 2 routes that can be taken. I would say you just need to keep riding and exploring all the trails.
  16. Rode Groenkloof this weekend..not that tough, so Mankele still remains my toughest, but lets see, a trail a weekend will tell. Modderfontein this Saturday
  17. Not sure if this has been done before. I have not ridden many trails in SA, but want to start to try all the different trails. My toughest one so far was the GREEN ROUTE AT MANKELE.....I thought the uphill section would never end & then on some of the downhills I was at my skill limit no doubt, but in the end it was great. What has been your toughest trail & is it worth reccomending to others to ride?. Thanks. Going to try Groenkloof this weekend.
  18. Funny you ask, I actually did mine yesterday, so dont make the same mistakes I did, here is what you need; 1. Validated copy of ID (bring your own copy, as they do not make copies for you). Post office does this for you. 2. Change of ownership form (you would have got this from your bank) 3. Fill in the blue copy! this you will get when you are there (I think it was section A & C) 4. Hand all in at the counter & get a number 5. After an hour or so you will get called up 6. It costs R120 & done. I hate having to do anything that has anything to do with goverment depts, but in the end it went OK....I had just not brought a validated copy of my ID so I drove around town to get one done. Good luck
  19. what's IDT?
  20. iphone pouch strapped to my arm. I then listen to itunes. Put on aeroplane mode so that I dont get 100 calls while out on the track.
  21. Tried them on in cycle lab & bought them in cycle lab...not sure why it was assumed I bought them on line!?!
  22. Just a tip, I bought a pair of really nice looking MTB LG (Louis Garneau), fitted great in the shop, but when I went for my first cycle in them my toes pushed up against the front. Tried tightening them, helped a bit but not much relief. My old Mr price shoes never had this problem. Just look out for this when getting your new shiny shoes
