  1. Hi Iwan - where did you source the Aerolite spokes? Was looking for them for my build but would have to import and was too expensive. Waiting for the real bike pics - looks awesome in teaser
  2. Is this what they call back pedalling ? Kudos to anyone who finishes an Epic
  3. Hey Skinny, Saw your post a bit late - let me know if you are doing any further courses. Will be interested Cheers
  4. I've used Concept Cyclery Melrose Arch for years and always found them to be helpful and offer good service. Establish a relationship with your LBS and it makes a world of difference.
  5. Main thing to make sure of is that your partner doesn't kill you or you overtax yourself trying to keep up. Good partnering is riding at the weaker pace
  6. Apologies for spelling - damn iPad
  7. I have a tule bike rack which takes 4!adult bikes comfortably. It w Has the option of moving the bikes back & forth. Will check for the model number and post in a later post if you want details. I have seen other people using a modified venter trailer with rack on top but you need to take off front wheels
  8. Try the green route at Modderfontein - mainly jeep track and not a lot of elevation. I think it is about 16-18 kms. Maybe this is the next option once you have mastered Rietvlei and your fitness levels are up. If you need directions then PM me
  9. Thanks for the many responses on this - I think madmarc is on the money and I will give this a bash. My research ability outstrips my mechical abilities so will look for more professional assistance on this. As the components are new - we can eliminate wear as a possible cause. My main aim was to confirm if anyone had similar issues AND if I was misusing the components (both achieved now - thanks). In defence of my LBS - they have been dilligent in trying to assist me (have always given me great service) but as I said in a controlled enviornment it is difficult to reproduce and making changes can only be tested on a ride where the same variables come into play. I think this is as frustrating for them as it is for me. What is frustrating is that it doesn't always occur and thus troubleshooting variables is difficult. You soon learn if your LBS is crap and then move on to find one that is good. I have faith that my LBS is trying to assist with a strange problem. I will have a chat with the machy at my LBS and go over the suggestions - check against SRAM instructions and settings advised. I will send it to another shop for 2nd opinion on setup if I don't come right. Maybe it is time for a course with JB's Yellow Saddles.
  10. Will check this - it is a new bike 4 months old but I have done a Sani on it. Bike is meticulously maintained but will check and maybe just replace the hanger
  11. Doesn't slip off the chainring but slips on the cogs - perplexing thing is that when you run it without load e.g. On a work stand then shifting is crisp but under certain conditions under load it slips. My LBS has worked on it and I can agree with them that it is strange because it only happens occasionally in under specific conditions. The derailleur has been sent to SRAM who can't find anything wrong
  12. Cassette is SRAM PG-1050, 10-speed, 11-36 Chainrings 36/22 All stock on the bike and are new
  13. Hi there, I'm new to the sram 2x10 groupset but have been plagued with the chain skipping when I run on the large chainring and the large ring on the cassette. Vice versa for small chain ring and small ring on the cassette. On my 3x9 groupset I never ran this way ( tried to keep it as straight as possible ) but thought that with 2x10 you could you the full range of gears for each chainring. Am I misusing the groupset - I have had the setup checked and my LBS says that it is correctly set up. Advice is appreciated
  14. Rode the night ride last night and certain sections have been cut (single track). Jeep track is still to be done but that lies with the maintenance team from AEL as there is a contract to do this. Ricky and Grant have raised the concerns of riders. Hopefully this will be sorted out soon. Night ride was excellent as usual????
  15. I had a text conversation with Grant on the issue of overgrowth and he said that the trails have been cut this week. Riding should be sorted now
