I looked at both when I was building up my Momsen. I eventually went for the Rapide as thought it was worth the gamble just due to the fact that they were lighter and came with all the adapters. I have been very impressed with the wheel set. I weight 95kgs and have given the wheels a good go as I do reasonably technical XC riding. Wheels are still true after a year of riding. I would recommend the Rapides

Here's my new baby. It took 8 months to source parts after I bought the frame on an impulse buy. I under estimated how expensive a build could cost but in the end it was worth it. Climbs like a demon but I still need to work on the legs to keep up with its potential. Thanks to Iwan (The Crow) for parts advice and Skinny for putting it together for me. 10.4kgs all in so I'm stoked and it is a beauty

Eventually settled on the Hope headset as I got it at a good price. Be careful as there are multiple types but only this combination works. Type 2 for top headset (ZS-44) and type G for the bottom (ZS-55). Headset is buttery smooth

Ok I have had no responses so have had to investigate myself. Here is what I found: 3 manufacturers who do ZS44/55 1. Columbus through TWT @ approx 100g 2. Ritchey Pro Logic Zero Pressfit Tapered Headset 129g (also a Comp version about same weight) 3. Hope headset (for Scott/ La Pierre frames) about 129g Value for money is the Columbus headset under R500 Richey comp between R500-600 but depends where you can get it Hope and Richey Pro are over R1k but bearings are supposedly better

I am finalising a build for a Momsen hardtail, I am considering the following headset for the bike "Hope Tapered Integral ZS44 - ZS56 Headset (1.1/8 - 1.5 tapered)". I am going to purchase through chain reaction so don't want to get it wrong. TWT suggest the following size "semi-integrated 44/55 headset" but I can't seem to find the same sizing anywhere - I am assuming that Momsen uses a standard 1.1/8-1.5 tapered steerer tube but would like some confirmation. If you ask why a Hope headset - the aim is to put decent components on and build a lightweight steed. If anyone has experience with the headset which TWT (Two Wheels Trading) offer and can offer comparative advice it would be appreciated Thanks for your input & advice Jean-Pierre

Epic - climbs like a demon but you have to work on technical descents (it all depends on your technical proficiency). I'd look at that sizing, I'm the same height but ride a small but this is dependent on your build and not height only as a factor.

I've used Concept Cyclery Melrose Arch for years and always found them to be helpful and offer good service. Establish a relationship with your LBS and it makes a world of difference.

Main thing to make sure of is that your partner doesn't kill you or you overtax yourself trying to keep up. Good partnering is riding at the weaker pace
