  1. 1st impression is GOOOOOOOD!!! Doing a leisurely crater cruise with the girlfriend over the weekend so I will report back after the weekend!
  2. Good decision! Went to the LSB yesterday to pick mine up! Ended up leaving my new pride and joy at the LBS - The first time your bike gets wet shouldn't be on its way home! Managed to squeeze in a quick round the block a the LBS - Very happy!
  3. thx! Ralph at the back but not so sure about the front at the moment...LBS suggested nobly nick's but they look very wide even though they are 2.3 wide and very aggressive!!! Is there slimmer nobbly nicks like a 2.5 or something??? Any suggestions?
  4. I asked opinions on the bike I am about the buy from fellow bikers, the fact that the bike is a 29er and not a 26er or 650b is immaterial. I never asked if I should buy a 26er/650b/29er...that debate has been well covered. This is a cycling/bike/equipment forum isn't it? I think its called the www.thehub.co.za and not www.thepessimist.co.za Apologies for posting bike stuff on a bike website...
  5. saddle is off, sella italia slx c is on its way! excited!
  6. Tyres are off immediately! What do you recommend? Scwalbe snake skins?
  7. yeah good bike and well priced!
  8. waiting on final confirmation but rumored to be around R32k - R35k. Other bikes oin the price range is the Scott which I don't like for various reasons and I heard from reliable sources that the Ghost 29er dual suspension will be here in December. The ghost is similarly spec'd than the Giant except the shocks are fox. Also not sure if I can wait that long....
  9. After months of waiting and waiting and waiting the Giant 29er Anthem Advanced finally arrived in SA! The SA version is slightly different to the US version which I like since I am a Shimano fan...check out the specs here: http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-za/bikes/model/anthem.x.advanced.29er/12781/59375/#specifications I like the specs on the bike, would like to know what my fellow hubbers think?
  10. my girlfriend is doing her first 3 day stage race (W2W - we are riding together), I think she realised over the last month its not always the quantity but the quality. we are mixing it up and riding a lot of different stuff to like breedts, sbr, vg, spruit, NF, cradle etc. Your riding should contain, hills, technical stuff, LSD and intervals don't under estimate the importance upper body and finger strength when doing your first 3 day stage race. 6-8 hours will enough, you can get away with less if do more intensity training!
  11. I miss my RnR!!!
  12. why would you pay more for your bike to flex? http://revolutionmtb.com.au/?p=398
  13. alloy compared to carbon - alloy flexes more than carbon (ask any roadie) same thing with thru axles they flex less than QRs
  14. Giant anthem advanced 29er thru axle front and rear - due in october Nuff said...
  15. sorry THX!
  16. LOL mmm...you get my point... 3x10 works for all conditions - spruit, breedts, magoebas, tokai mast, long straight drags! if you are happy 2x10 or 1x10 you are either a. not riding a wide variety of routes b. much stronger than the above average rider c. spinning like a mofo on the straights you miss out on either the bottom or top end when you reduce the amount of chain rings...that is simple math
  17. Morningside cycles received a batch of Scotts a week ago, DT swiss rear shock - same problem as 2012!!! Stupidity is expecting the same thing twice and expecting different results...
  18. pushing ur bike is the most inefficient thing you can do to a bike

data, data summary and user expereince on garmin connect isn't as good as data on endomondo or strava explore/courses functionality is very limited and not as user friendly as it could be. for now i use connect, endomondo and strava garmin seem to relax their value proposition as soon as you buy the device, try strava best application i have come across
  21. you? anytime!
