Couldn't agree more. Epic is becoming predictable with Spez always winning and dominating everyone. Guess that's why their bikes are so damn expensive. 🙄. Would like to see some other teams also fighting it out...

If I ever got a chance to do the epic, I would rather book airbnb places in the towns where we start. Because paying over R100k for racing 1 day and then quiting because of a stomach bug sucks.

I think Speed Racing are everyone favorite team atm. They just go balls to the walls at every stage. no filter come interview time. Say it as it is 😆

Ok, so you can't book let's say for instance the Saturday. And only arrive on the Wednesday or Thursday before yout swim. You must be available for the whole week.

I will do that. I'm definitely going to use a wetsuit for the Robben Island swim. What's the best time of the year to do the swim?. I don't want to travel all the way from Mpumalanga and the swim gets cancelled a day before the event.

So happy I found this thread on the hub. Started swimming last month just to try something different and because my back started acting up again. And to my surprise, I actually like it. So, I was looking at a couple of open water swimming events for Later in the year, and then the Freedom Swim early next year. I don't live near the sea, so any open water training would have to be done at our local dam. Will it make a difference when I train for the Robben Eiland swim?

You are right. Every year there's a bunch of cyclists with back-up cars coming through Lebombo Border to Mozambique. The one guy told me it's type of fun-ride tour type of thing. They do post it on fb, but for the life of me, I can't remember the name.

Yes, Swaziland would be a better option, Nerston or Oshoek. Then use Goba Border Post to enter Mozambique.

Don't ride on the N4 from Hectorspruit to the Border. Its way to Dangerous with all the chrome trucks. Rather take the Ngwenya Lodge/Marloth Park turn off just past Hectorpruit and ride through Komatipoort to the Border. Much safer.
