I accepted, because I feel that I am partly responsible. The sms the bank sent me did state that the funds are available, but I should have phoned before I released the goods.

Yes, did report it as stolen. Went to Police and explained situation. Constable Moloi said they first need the original cheque from the bank before he can open a case. Bank said they would mail it to me, and that could take weeks. Said he could do nothing for me. Luckily Captian Strydom heard my dillema and he said he'd help. Took my statement and opened a case of theft.

Also put in a claim at the bank as the bank misled me with the sms they sent me. Don't know if I will be successful. Won't know if you don't try. Still waiting for them to get back to me. Now I don't trust ANYBODY. Very expensive lesson learned.

My problem, I'm too trusting. Age old scheme. Advertized my car, guy calls and interested. Made the payment into my bank account on the Saturday morning, just before 11. Got the sms from the bank that the money was paid in and it's available. Released the car that afternoon. Monday afternoon get another sms from the bank, money reversed. Guy used a stolen cheque. Result: car gone, bank balance minus R32000.00. Always thought that this would never happen to me, but these people are good. They know exactly how to treat you and soften you up. Still mad with myself that I got caught like this.

Count yourselve lucky. I lost R32000 in a con about 2 weeks ago!

If the cyclists moved out of the way the first time they were asked to, all this hype would not have been necessary. To say that they could not have known that the hooting was for them, is just plain stupid, because they should have known that it is against the law to ride 2 abreast. Our group also get hooted at but never have anyone given the finger, or verbal abuse, to motorists. We just try and move out of the way as far as possible. Motorists hate cyclists, just speak to a non-cycling motorist and you will come to the same conclusion. But that's just my 2c.

I must admit, I skip red lights some time. But when you're a woman alone out training, it's better to skip a red light than wait for something worse to happen. But then I only skip a red light early in the morning when there is almost no cars in sight and I always cross with caution. During normal hours, even if it is save to cross, I will wait at a red light.

Oh, that's terrible. That is my biggest fear when I go out cycling, as I train on my own. Not to get knocked down by a car, but to get bike jacked and loose my bike.
