[Good tyre for 29'er XC ?]

I'm a massive fan of the Maxxis Aspen 2.25 for a fast rolling XC tyre. I cannot seem to find them anywhere in SA though. Let me know if manage to find some.

If you were happy with the crossmark and you are looking for good value then you have your answer, they are the cheapest tyre ever, always on sale, although in my opinion they are terrible XC tyres   

That's probably why they came with my bike when I bought it back then 

 

If I can get better for a little more then I'll definitely check that out. Some good suggestions so far. Ill need to see which ones to go for now though.

I'm wanting to replace my current tyres and am looking for some recommendations.

 

Currently using Maxxis Cross Mark 29x2.1 which have worked really nicely. They are old due to sitting around while I was commuting to work with other commuter slicks. The riding I'm doing is XC in Tokai with a bit of tar to get there and back.

 

Any recommendations for a good tyre that is not going to break the bank, something surprisingly good and good value for money ?

After a dismal year last year with my commuting I started this year quite well. However with the drought I no longer have access to showers at or near work. Do any of you guys have this issue and how to "freshen" up without a shower ?

 

I sweat profusely even for a while after I finish riding so it's not so easy just to wipe down. I'd quite happily not shower however I don't think my co-workers would agree

While I'm a fan of Korn ... I don't think their new single is that great. Sounds commercialised to me. I'm keen to hear the whole album, however when singles are released before the album they are usually the better tracks off the album, so I'm a little skeptical.

[Things I've learnt from commuting]

Yup. Really had a go the other day at a dude driving a plumbers' bakkie. Looked me in the eyes, then decided to go anyway.

Can't say how many times this has happened to me. Or the other one, is look left and just go not bothering to even look right. Had to slide my back wheel again trying to brake for a scooter that did that to me this morning.

 

in fact this morning was such a crap car/pedestrian ride, which ended in me being bumped by a car that didn't even bother to notice I was there or even stop afterwards. Luckily for me I managed to stay on my bike. Let's just hope the ride home is not as eventful as the ride in.

It always amazes me how I manage to scream like a little girl when a car door is opened on me ... eish ... so close this morning, and I was going at a fair pace .... that would have really hurt
