  1. Have a look here, I went from a Deore crankset to a Truvativ 5d crankset to this. After a while the internal BB powerspline thingy starts to feel like a pepper grinder. I also changed F/D from Deore to a SLX M770. This IS your answer.
  2. Thanks. Taken a while as time and cash allowed. Did I say Easton? Must be habit! Will check out the KCNC stuff for sure

  4. I used to have shocking eyesight (anything further than 1m away was a blur)and the contact lenses were not the solution to all the problems I encountered Best thing I ever did was to have laser eye surgery by a Dr Venter in PE - he pioneered lazer eye surgery and taught the Yanks at med school how to do it. I had it done in '98 and have had no issues. Glasses, contacts and all that are a long distant memory. Highly recommended!
  5. Here's my story - took my bike to a shop I thought would be good, as I had a sniff around there a few weeks prior. Booked in for service. Got a call about the state of things and work that needed to be done, and there was a lot. I gave the go ahead. Got the bike back with shop soiled parts (new crankset in particular) and had to book it back in later to complete the job (wheel build). When I came back on the date they did not have the parts required (hubs). That really pissed me off. I sent a mail and had a long chat wth the owner about it. Poor service needs to be exposed! If I had not said anything nothing would have happened and folk are to easliy put off complaining. Anyway, found a much better one closer to my place of work.
  6. Reason for CRC is that a) I have the pounds and b) I have family there in a few weeks who can recieve the delivery locally and bring it back here. I just need to make sure I get the right parts, hence the post
  7. The options for crank lengths are 170mm or 175mm. I will check what the length is currently Price for SLX comes in at R1304 from CRC ex shippping Gear ratios are the standard 44.32.22
  8. I am busy with eternal upgrade quest for my trusty steed and the time has come for the crankset and BB. I currrently have a Truvative 5d cranks with an Internal BB. I am looking at the SLX crankset but how do I go about ordering the correct external BB? What do I need to look at and measure? I know there are different threads etc, without going to the LBS for an answer and sales pitch..? My UK bank acc is to be closed and I can think of no better place than to spend than CRC! The frame is a 2005 18" Merida Matts Speed.
  9. Most definatly no high pressure sprays Drive home after ride. Keep bike attached to rack on back of car. Crack open cold beer. Gather hosepipe, clean green, brushes and get to it. Wipe off excess water and allow to dry in sun. Lubricate thoroughly and wipe off excess. Done
