  1. Feeling vindicated in deciding to ride it on my MTB, happy with my 3:10 from K. The loose sand section caught many who've not ridden sand before. Braking with your weight over the front wheel equals disaster. Getting your bum over the back wheel and letting the front drift over the sand would've saved lots of skin. Sitting over the back wheel, I was comfortably 'drifting' over the downhill sandy section at 50Km/h.
  2. I'm going to ride the section the day before to check it out. If in doubt, I'm doing the race on my hardtail. Should be able to annoy a fair number of the slower roadies!
  3. Went to CWC to buy a light around 20th of December. No stock but salesman (Andre) and Jnr confirmed they'll get in the same day, will keep me one and phone as soon as it's in. No later than the next day. Suffice to say I'm still waiting for the call.......
  4. I believe the Vodacom Ladies got 3rd riding MTBs! We also did the event this year on MTBs and did the same time we did last year! Shows what the wind effect last year was.
  5. Would love to see how you substantiate your statements with actual facts and relevant regulations. I assume you can do that?
  6. CPA will apply if he stated intended use, found it not suitable, did not use it and returned in 10 days. If returned in original packaging 100% refund must be given. If supplier must restore original packaging, he can charge a reasonable fee to do so. There is no such thing as a blanket 5% handling fee according to the CPA.
  7. AKA Intervals.......
  8. Dit is, ne^?, ek's skoon verlief! Met die RSYS SLR wiele was dit 6.9Kg, so met die Carbones seker so 7.3? @Dale, clinchers. Still need to make the jump to tubbies.
  9. Got my new deep sections.
  10. The Pros do things in a certain way because it increases their efficiency, or at least 99% of the time. So we should take note of what they do and steal with pride if it makes sense. Lycra, Clipless and 29ers all makes sense to me, so I use them where appropriate. I suspect for the same reasons the pros do. So I don't consider it "copying", just a logical conclusion of applying technology to a specific problem.
  11. Can confirm that I've only had bad service from Olympic. Started when I wanted to buy a new bike and they had the correct model on the floor. But after a few days of actually trying to buy the bike, I gave up and bought from another LBS. Was just crazy, would not return calls, bike was not ready more than once when I drove out there to pick it up, etc. Eventually just gave up. Over the last 2 years called them a few times when searching for a specific part. Every single time they promised to call back but never did. Once the workshop actually advised me to go to another LBS! Got a feeling the techie was as frustrated as I was. In general the attitude was/is one of indifference and a 'don't-care' attitude. Sad thing (for them) is that I've spent a cr@pload of money on bikes/spares over the last few years but not a cent with them. And never will. For the record; been getting great service from Deon at Cyclefunatic in Durbanville and my appreciation is recorded in the 3 bikes (and 1 kiddie bike) I bought there so far.
  12. The crank? Already posted the black one is on it's way.
  13. Which bit does not satisfy the "Black Bike" thread title then?
  14. Thanks Dale. They're clinchers - got them from Cyclefunatics in Durbanville.
  15. The wheels come with their own brake pads for the special surface, so let's hope it stays nice and black. Going to do the setup today and make sure the saddle is not tilted.
  16. My first attempt at a black bike. Still waiting for the black crank though.....
