    Babba's Lodge

That's how I train, MTB majority of the year and then come all the road races in summer I hop on the road bike (planning on riding sub 2h30 at 94.7). Back on topic, Babba's is good intensity training! Just hope I can beat my 10th place on the next one.

I have to agree with you there, despite my Garmin claiming 780m total ascent?? (Don't think that's right.) Either way, with 10th overall in the 70km I left Babba's a happy chappy.
  3. Riding next to the bunch would defeat the purpose (I like to 'save' myself for the last 3rd of races.) But just try and stay behind the one or two (2 guys along side one another) wheels that are in front of you. But when riding in a bunch you should be looking at least at the 3rd rider in front of you, that way if something happens you have time to react and on the plus side you're not constantly focused on how close the people are around you which obviously eases the nerves.

I've never been asked to show it but I think it's just 'protocol'.
  5. Easy spin on Saturday with some jaaging on Sunday at Babba's Lodge. Still considering the Pta CM.
  6. Someone was listening to 5fm this morning.

    Anybody racing this coming Sunday?
  9. That being said, his calves are about the size of my forearms! And I'm tiny... Although compared to me; his extra 17cm on my 1.73m equals a gain of 11kg's! Off to the gym I go
  10. Weekdays you can go no problem. But I would say that if you'd continuously go on weekends, someone might just ask where your club shirt is. Otherwise give it a bash and see if it's what you're looking for.
  11. Well here is info for Velo's rides, it is updated every week. And would say the weekday rides are about 50km leaving at 6. http://www.velo.co.za/clubride.php

    2012 94.7

I rode 2h40 last year, from group C and 2h29 in 2009 (on restricted gears as a licensed junior.) So this year I'm aiming for a 2h30, fingers crossed.
  13. So I've got a set of RockShox SID RL 100mm dual air forks, and I'm not sure how the +ve and -ve chambers work. Anyone that can explain? (Question 1) Considering that the explanation will probably help me with determining how to pump them up and I know personal preference also plays a role but I'm not sure what to pump the chambers to (Question 2.) I weigh 58 kilos and the guide on the forks says that for <63kg inflate 70-90psi for both +ve and -ve... I find them extremely stiff and currently have them at 70psi.
  14. Agree, got the 2012 XT Ice-Tech brakes with 180/160 rotors. They scare the bajeebers out of me to be honest (I weigh 58kg, so they might be a slight overkill!) Nearly went over my bars a few times after slamming them on to avoid them "blind" car drivers...
  15. I had ridden the CR's for over a year and never had a problem either, why not try a different rotor maybe?
  16. Hmm, half way there. Now just to find a pair of baggies.
  17. I have a seeding from prior races in 2010 that I have done, not even sure if it was SAS back then. But with the Trailseeker 1 70km I rode with a new number board (which has been registered to me if I check online) but I have no results for the event? So clearly they are slacking.
  18. The problem with those polo's was that they were fitted with below standard oil pumps which failed after a certain time period.
  19. i is the easy one, I couldn't figure out sigma and I'm studying engineering! Damn sum of a b*tch!

  21. If you get a puncture (a cut in the sidewall) which the sealant for obvious reasons will not seal. If you take the tire off to place a gator over the cut, resealing the tire sometimes requires a "kick" to seat it again which you might not achieve with a hand pump. Then again, guess you could also revert to a tube as a quick fix and use the pump. Whatever floats your boat.
