    swim sets

I constantly have to come up with witty chirps as the slow swimmers go motoring past on the bike.
  2. I hope that you are correct. At the moment, Windguru says 16km/h with 19km/h gusts for Brandvlei.
  3. Batten down the hatches boys. It's going to be a windy one.
  4. Ja, it sounds like they want an uncluttered transition area. Yes, the running shoes and cycling shoes (if they are not already on your bike) should go into the bucket until you need them. The wetsuit might fit in there after the swim, although last year, I remember there being wetsuits all over the place.
  5. This is good news for Slaapstad. ITU is drafting, right? So it will be like interval training...
  6. Hi guys, Please keep an eye out in Stellenbosch for a Purple Cannondale road bike. It was taken sometime this morning (Tuesday, 19 November). It has a Shimano 105 groupset. What makes me angry is that I recently upgraded the bike with an ISM saddle. Cheers
  7. ISM FTW!
  8. What they said. Windy on the cycle and hot on the run. I still have my triathlon tan from last year. At least all three legs of the event are flat.

    Slanghoek Triathlon

All in all, it was a well organised event. I enjoyed the "long" MTB. Not too technical. The swim times look a bit low all around. I suspect that the timekeeper has not adjusted for daylight savings time... My run time is also longer so the transition time must be included there.

    Slanghoek Triathlon

The run confused me. My GPS measured it at 9km, which is well short of the advertised 10km. Did anyone else accidentally take a short cut? I also noticed some guys running up the Southern side of the dam wall (instead of the Northern side).
  11. I'll join in this game; and I'm feeling patriotic today: Ronnie Schildknecht James Cunnama Pete Jacobs Andreas Raelert Sebastien Kienle
  12. Jailbreak tickets are now open, I just entered! It's hard to believe that Jailbreak (Maximum security) sold out. There were only about 150 entrants. Perhaps they include the minimum security athletes, who also use the transition area at the same time.
  13. Ja, it is strange. You would think that there would be a sprint tri every weekend. I suppose that the complexity of organising any event can't be under-estimated.
  14. He he, and have you noticed: if you come second in your race, the prize money won't even cover your entry fee.
  15. I'll join you. Quickly help me find a sugar-mommy to sponsor the trip...
  16. Ja, well done everyone. Some of them made full use of the time available, he he.
  17. Hopefield has just finished! What a journey.
  18. What time is cut-off time tomorrow?
  19. The pace seems to have slowed but they have some hours in the bag so it's fine. I guess that last 400km or so are going to hurt, unless everything is numb...
  20. I don't know what Walkerr's number is. Hopefield is D53, with an average of 20km/h for the first 400km. How are the other Joburgers doing?
  21. Yup, Walkerr and Hopefield are cycling.
  22. I use these Jabra ones: http://www.jabra.com/Products/Bluetooth/JABRA_CLIPPER/Jabra_CLIPPER which cost about R550 last year. They sit well in my ears. Although these water-resistant ones might be better for you: http://www.jabra.com/Products/Bluetooth/JABRA_SPORT_/Jabra_SPORT_ They use bluetooth so would only work with your phone.
  23. They have been keeping the Strand pool nice and warm, so the swimming is going well. Now if I can just get the cycling back on track...
  24. I think that we should remove #35, unless you are leading the race...
  25. I am tempted, seeing as the teething problems should have been ironed out last year already.
