Every time I go ride at 5am. So I procrastinate a bit, then work it out in my head, "Ok, it's 15kms from home to meet my mates at 5:30am, So if I leave home at 5 on the dot, nice easy spin at 30km/h gets me there in on time perfectly" Then as I wana leave, I have to take The Browns to the Superbowl and my maths goes from basic math to Einstein level maths trying to work out just how fast I need to go to not be late and have my mates waiting for me and then watching the whatsapp group closely hoping someone else's bowels also start playing tok tokkie.

With majority of bikes being sold stock now with 50/34 chainrings, They're quite easy to find. Quite a few in the classifieds and as you said above, quite cheap for the compact blades.

I see Stetina rode a 52/36 Dura Ace crank with 11/34 cassette instead of the 1x which most gravel okes prefer.

Really looks like he's absolutely cruising whilst the guys further back are starting to fight their bikes LOL

I also remember being a sweeper rider at the Race to the sea, In the whatsapp group with organizers etc they were all saying they're expecting the 1st riders to come in just over 5hrs20 or so considering the heat and wind on the day, They were all pretty shocked when Matt rolled in just over 4hr50 for the 160km 2300m course. What was most noticeable though was while some of the top riders in the country used Gravel bikes, Matt rode his MTB and still managed to win by a massive margin which was insane to witness.

He also won a crit race at Century City 2 weeks ago in the Elite category on the most unaerodynamic bike on the planet (Sworks Aethos). Apparently he and Alan Hatherly (On a Cannondale SystemSix) lapped the field a few times on a very technical circuit. Oh, and he did a 4hr, 120km ride that same morning as the crit was only in the afternoon.

Try www.wpcycling.com They have a whole host of races lined up, The month of May has a race every weekend and there is actually a crit race this weekend.

Alternatively, Park on Signal Hill, Paraglide down to the Promenade, Take a scenic walk to the expo(about 10mins), Uber back up to fetch your vehicle again LOL

Somerset Road Green Point has a few parking lots, outside Cape Town Stadium(mostly very full) Green Point Park if you feeling Touristy and it's a 5min walk, Moullie Point, V&A Waterfront...

So no time slot booking this year for the non/not fully vaxxed for the Antigen test at the Expo? So I'm assuming it's just pitch up, Wait in line, get tested, carry on as per usual?! LOL I have an earlier start than before but am also way less fit and way more fat(pitty the i and a swopped around), If the last group was off at 10am then I would have made it i think, but 9:45, naah I'm not making it back by that time this year..

This was only "allowed" in 2021, i think because the CTCT was in October so the marshals were confused. But it's back to March so should be back to normal.😜
