If by World Champs you mean CTCT then I know he won his age Cat last year as he was also 2nd overall behind Nolan in the sprint.

@Blouogies won ITT and then the 30-34 Cat road race by 19min, or have I seen the incorrect times 😳 19mins at a 30km/h average speed for the last few kms(not sure if that was the speed it's just for argument sake) means he had just over a 9km lead which is almost half a lap... LOL Not sure if you can do the full entry process, But I had my basket saved to "pay later" which i did on Friday I think, just went in via international entries as the general entries portal was closed as it took me straight to my basket awaiting payment, I made payment and had no issues.

Remember not too long ago there was such a demand we even had a lottery system (Only lasted 1 year though). Mates were bleak when they never "made the cut", They got to race eventually anyway though...

I don't really care much for a goodie bag to be honest, most of the stuff I have received I've never used actually and it's been laying in my cycling spares box since the day I got them. On the race calendar front, seems we have quite a full calendar here in CT if you take part in the WP Winter League which is great to see.

Yeah it's what happens when you get people who actually ride and have a passion for cycling involved.

LOL yeah it is in the middle of nowhere but in terms of live streaming it's going to be super (so they say), No TV coverage obviously. CSA don't have money to host SA's so Honeycomb are funding this event in agreement with CSA, and by the looks of things, following their social media etc, They might just be able to pull off a fantastic event.

Willie and his wife own(well atleast I think so watching his Vlogs) a coffee shop in Spain where he was based if I'm not mistaken, But yes unless earning a proper salary, life gets very tough in Europe as the Rand against the Euro stands no chance and no pro or aspiring pro cyclist wants to be living off the very bare minimum then still has to be 100% focused on training daily, correct on and off the bike nutrition and supplements etc. I know a few guys who were in Europe then had to try and sell their bikes and bits they had in SA to fund themselves whist they were still there.

Yeah, even Byron Munton who did really well in the Zwift series with Alpecin and has been in Europe the past few years is now back in SA and has signed for a local team in CT until something in Europe hopefully pops up again.

We currently also have Reinhardt Janse Van Rensburg without a team at all. Heard nothing on Nics side so looks like he will be riding for the Qhubekha Conti team, Marc Pritzen who is the current SA Road Champ has signed for Team Honeycomb Pro Cycling who are also local and are based up in JHB, So alot of SA boys starting 2022 off from "scratch" if I can put it that way. I tell you what though, I believe SA's this year is going to be insane and super to watch as there are ALOT of hungry riders who "need" that title or even more who want it.

The bikes they dont keep no, the clothing yes, But just as memorabilia I guess as they are have team contracts and team kits so not like they'll be riding their kit to coffee shops haha.

Yeah the GCN presenters also mentioned they were keeping an eye on the riders body temperatures aswell. So definitely alot more than what is shared with us mere mortals..

Byron has also been apart of the Zwift academy trials when Di Data were still the host WT Team if I remember correctly. The man is a proper bike rider, I wouldn't say pure climber, watching him locally and the races he's won and even following his progress abroad he seems more of a breakaway specialist who also, as stated above is 1 serious ITT rider too. He's been in Europe for a good few years now and always comes back and races locally, Definitely has a bright future in the sport.

Just received a message on a cycling group of a lady who was knocked down by a vehicle at the Llandudno robot around 9am, there were eye witnesses. Prefer not to say exactly what the message says as that is speculation at this point. Also received a photograph taken at the scene. No confirmation of injuries or as to how serious the victim is. That is an extremely fast descent going down from top of Suikers toward Town. Let's hope for the best.
