  1. Agreed 100%. It's not going to get us amateurs a Pro WT contract or even help us to beat our mates to a coffee stop. Realistically still finish outside the top 200 of the August in March anyway. So I'd much rather have a nicer looking bike.
  2. Agreed. I really like the more traditional style, the seat stays running down from the seat post/tob tube area and not half-way down the seat tube. Fork not too over complicated and bulky like the newest trends. Really stylish and elegant.
  3. Fixed
  4. Reminds me of this which was sent to our group last week
  5. Well done @Sid the Slothon the top step in the Elite Cat... 2nd last year, 1st this year.. Great effort that.
  6. On Sat and Sunday mornings, You will find him at The Pantry with the very nice bunch of guys who have coffee post ride, Majority are quite old guys. They're not a club, Not part of The Life Cycle group, But do park at the Tokai junction and ride from there.
  7. Actually met this exact guy 1 day at The Pantry in Tokai. A buddys wife who was with us, knows him through her Dad and he does have some medical condition. He was going off at a mate when he told us he was buying a full rear disk for the upcoming CTCT and we told him it's not allowed, in a very polite way, So he went absolutely nuts and also starting getting verbally abusive. A Good few years ago (like 10) He used to ride Tri Spokes front and back and used to fly down past Vida in Camps Bay till the Police station, turn back and coming flying back past just till he got up the hill, then repeat, For hours, Mainly because there were other cyclists there we assumed and he wanted to look "cool" I guess, LOL. But yes again, He does have a medical condition (mental type), Obviously not bad enough to keep him off his bike though.
  8. Sub 4min 4km Individual pursuit!!! Absolutely mental...
  9. I also found Butyl tubes with sealant in worked an absolute charm. I have sealant in normal butyl tubes on my training wheels and they've been great, No punctures. My carbon wheels I'm running tubeless and oh so happy. 2 weeks ago I got a puncture coming down Chapmans just before little Chappies, I rolled up slowly and stopped at the top of little Chappies and it sealed, I rode home with about 4bar with zero issues. Last week coming down Smits into Simon's Town the same slit opened again, i rolled slowly, pumped up the wheel at the garage and the wheel is still hard today. Tubeless has saved me so much money as now I don't need to keep buying 80mm long valve tubes which cost over R100 each for the cheapest of the lot.
  10. I read an article, not sure which brand of inner tube it was, could be tubolito, maybe not, But there was a 12month warranty.. So if you puncture, you return to the bike shop for a replacement..
  11. Cycle Lab now sell Aerothan tubes. Lighter and more puncture resistant than Latex. Also alot more pricey though.
  12. Legally a lady or can one identify as one, Just for DC then go back to identifying as a penguin and or ostrich or whatever else?? LOL
  13. Perhaps he hired a bike and it got stolen. Shame I hope the owner of the hiring company has insurance LOL
  14. Ahh ok so that makes sense then. Makes things a little clearer...
  15. From what I understand, not sure where the article link is which I read it from. The PPA races are listed as "fun rides" and not "races" as in order to register them as "races" there needs to be prize money and a few other requirements such as riders paying for their CSA licenses or Day license etc. And these need to be met in order for it to be labelled as such.. I think all you receive at PPA fun rides are the sponsored bottles of wine from the hosting venue like Windmeul, Paardeberg etc etc.. WP Winter League is advertised/listed as "races" because they have prize money and you need a CSA license or day license to participate in any category. Someone with more knowledge on the exact requirements could perhaps fill us in here.
  16. I agree 100%. Just get the feeling the CTCT are just using their reputation now. Almost get the sense it's not about the riders any more(maybe it never was and was used to make money and all, But it's getting kinda obvious now)
  17. I know the whole "headline sponsor" story bla bla bla. But just for informational purposes for those who don't really know and why people have every right to be fed up about the inflation of the entry fee every year (I'm pretty sure the CTCT also has more entrants) CTCT Entry - R755 - Winning Prize Money R45 000 Mens and R45 000 ladies (Total of R200 000 across all categories) 94.7 Entry - R625 - Winning Prize Money R200 000 each male and female. 2nd place R75 000 Male and female. 3rd place R15 000 male and female. (There is prize money all the way to 15th place, and then for other specific categories aswell - https://ridejoburg.co.za/prize-money-947-ride-joburg/ ) It's no wonder why last years 94.7 saw the likes of Willie Smit, Reinhardt Janse Van Rensburg, Darryl Impey, Ashleigh Moolman Pasio to name but a few attending 94.7, and none of the above bothered with the CTCT.

  19. The birds in Aus really don't muck about....(And I'm talking about the flying ones people). First Bauke now Hayley... Here our very own Hayley Preen is having her 1st magpie attack in a training ride... LOL https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ci1b3g9JUK7/?igshid=NDRkN2NkYzU=
  20. Do 2 laps on 2 different bikes this year which leaves you with 1, then buy another 1 before next year and do 2 laps, 1st with the new 1 and the 2nd with the one you haven't done it on this year!!
  21. Received this on a whatsapp group, Had a nice little giggle...
  22. Couldn't find a thread for this, So started one. Please merge it if there is already a thread for this. I may not have been selected for World Champs in Aus this weekend, But I'm going to have to pay almost the same as it would have cost me to go to Aus if I am to complete my 12th CTCT (The REAL World Champs, Not the wannabe's in Aus) in a row. Below I have attached a screenshot of the entry fee.. *Flame suit on*
