Hundreds of world records set in sports yearly... how do you choose one sport? The sub 2 though, albeit an artificial attempt of sorts, defied what people had even thought was physiologically possible. It's an incredible feat to break any world record, but what Eliud did, was take 2 seconds off the world record, every kilometer, for 42.2 kilometers. It's going to be an iconic moment in all sport for a long time. It's quite possibly going to change the landscape of long distance running forever... Hamilton, drove the fastest car to victory... his team mate was second overall. We don't even know if he's the best driver of the year in all honesty... Messi, won the Spanish league with Barcelona in historically one of the worst seasons in La Liga history. It's no brainer for me, but I am obviously also biased, as are we all
