  1. A few years ago I might even have been excited about him joining... Some positives for sure though, he's English, he's a leader, and he's won things - all attributes we need at the moment
  2. Abidal gone as well now...
  3. He's quality... lots of 'work' to do though
  4. That was me... well, kind of - specifically was with relation to Serie A and the French league if I recall. German league is very competitive, even if the Bayern dominance is obvious, they have lots of strong teams these days... Reading too much into one off results doesn't provide much insight in my books... and easier league = fresher players for this tournament, it's a huge factor any which way you look at it. French teams are very well rested and have been able to line this comp up from a long way out. German teams also had a nice break before this. English, Spanish, even Italian teams all look knackered from this run of games over a relatively short period of time... and the results show
  5. Been enjoying all these Europa/Eufa games... deposited R300 when I saw the odds on offer, took a bunch of R20 punts and now sitting pretty with over R10k in pocket and some very good prospects from a few multipliers that are still running... had a bit of luck for sure, Wolves and PSG games were just a tad close, but very welcome extra funds in these tricky times
  6. And Utd heavily favored in the odds to take them next round... wouldn't be at all surprised if Sevilla take them out.
  7. Harkerville Red Route Location - 15km from Plett Discipline - XC'ish (you'll work much of the time) Distance - 25-30km Difficulty - Intermediate upwards (nothing crazy) Proper fun flowing riding with some of the best views you will ever take in. Easier, shorter routes also available, but just do the red Karkloof Trails Location - Karkloof Country Club Discipline - XC/Marathon Distance - 10-80km Difficulty - Intermediate upwards (IMBA markings) The trails change as the logging moves around (SAPPI country) But endless options for fun riding that will keep you smiling for days. Home of Hylton Turvey, one of the best trail builders in SA. The soil round that area sure helps too... Cycle Mashatu Location - Tuli Block/Botswana (easier logistics than you might think) Discipline - Marathon Distance - 30km odd a day Difficulty - Easy to Intermediate Incredible game viewing from the saddle of your bike. All fully supported, with great food... and few things better than sleeping under a tree canopy in the African Bush around a massive bonfire with the nightlife calling. All three of these place I would go back to in a heartbeat, and have been meaning to go back to, some as many as ten years. Don't be like Andrew, don't wait. You won't regret it
  8. Last day of trading for our Pretoria branch... if you're in the area, last chance to grab some of the Covid Clearance sale bargains... We'll be moving the leftover stock across to WearDirect thereafter... should take about a week or so to get it processed and repackaged. Thanks everyone for the support in these tough times - hopefully the nice bargains have also helped a little bit!
  9. Thanks for the support as always Chris... We're out of stock on that, but I'll see if between the Pretoria and Cape Town stores we can make a plan
  10. Sad indeed... 'only two people' out of a job, but yeah, the shops were marketing showrooms and bases for our reps for our core business of custom gear, but it's just not a luxury we can afford in this climate sadly. They're a small part of our business, probably only 20% combined, but yeah... not a good feeling at all. I think like many companies we will be streamlining things a lot. One typical example is we've had a huge push to online, whereas in the past it was very much an afterthought. Look forward to simpler days though, where we can set some goals, make some lekker kit and enjoy some races and good old SA gees again.
  11. Welcome to Joburg... you don't park a car outside at night anywhere without a car guard watching it. There is quite a bit of petty crime around there though, but that's sadly the norm for busy wealthy areas.
  12. The best thing the Premiere League ever did, was spread the tv rights money out pretty fairly. It gives even the weakest teams the capital to do something in the league, and hold on to their better players a bit longer or at the very least get a good price for them, which again allows them to grow. It's what creates the competition... no easy games, no resting players for big games, all games are tough. Half of the top 20 richest clubs in the world are in the Premier league... and I'd imagine the rest who aren't in that top 20, probably aren't too far behind. I don't know if the models have changed much in the other leagues, but last I looked into it, the top teams in the other leagues often got more than the lions share of league revenue, and all that does is keep the status quo
  13. It is home to the greatest local pub ever... the Jolly Roger. Grew up in the area, and my sister still lives there, it's really nice and vibey... my only suggestion would be to not buy within a block of the main street and shopping areas, it's a bit chaotic at times and you're going to have strangers parked outside your house much of the time. Very lekker to walk to a coffee shop etc though or finish a ride off at Hudsons, Espresso etc
  14. For sport it sounds good, especially tied in with the social distancing aspect... not that we need masks for rigorous sport anymore though. My worry was more about the people using them as normal face masks which seems a common approach - that's not going to prevent droplet spread much when you're out shopping etc
  15. Anyone here got the Ciovita sports mask? Is it really open at the bottom?
  16. Merida is a solid good value for money brand, XT Shimano is a good level performance component range... although the brakes are usually something slightly lower. They came with a Rockshox 30 shock if I'm not mistaken, which is a solid, if not spectacular front fork. The wheels quite possibly generic alex rims or something along those lines... but if they have been looked after, they should last a fair while. It's always a good item to upgrade down the line though. If the bike is in good condition that's a nice bonus, bike prices have skyrocketed the last few years, so we're not getting a lot of bike for our bucks... Price wise if you're paying around R10/11k for this you're doing well I reckon Pics will help everyone advise you better too... Good luck and welcome to the sport
  17. It's probably the reason I don't particularly enjoy the Italian league... too lopsided and predictable in the long term. This level of dominance is never good for competition. Glad some of the other bigger Italian clubs are making a bit of a comeback, but how long that momentum lasts is anyone's guess. Juve generally just take the better players in the league, strengthening themselves and weakening the opposition... that's pretty much the cycle sadly. Similar in a way with Bayern, PSG too...
  18. 100%, but I'm also just lost as to why he feels it might be stolen... not much suspicious from my view, but maybe I'm missing something
  19. Bloody good Alu frame... beaut of a ride And you'd be surprised on where the upper end is: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/1486/caad12-di2-cosmics-stages-pwr
  20. Yeah... same here, just looks like an advert where the seller put in little effort. As is the case with 70% of adverts
  21. Can't believe they stripped your bike down from a SuperSix to an entry level CAAD... These criminals are getting crazy sneaky
  22. Glad you're okay, even a SuperSix is replaceable (eventually) Glad you got counselling, been there, done that... it's really important. Weird to hope that the guys were at least wearing face masks...
