  1. Boy builds some nice bikes. Will be nice to get some feedback from Alex regarding how the frame holds up and how that geometry works. I like it a lot.
  2. Graham Kidson 0837820661 Not sure if he operates from Pinetown or Hillcrest.
  3. Try Mark Carrol from Cadence. He is based in KZN, but has a branch in Fourways.
  4. I have 6 year old twin boys, they went from JD Bugs onto 16" BMX bikes at about 3 1/2 years old. The bikes were so heavy and cumbersome they hated riding them. So I went and bought 2 x 12" cheap and nasty's. They rode them for about 1 year, no training wheels needed after the JD Bug. They are now on the 16" BMX bikes and loving them. Rather buy a small, light bike so he can get confident with the pedal action, then worry about a bigger, better bike. The 12" Bike I have leant to a friend who's daughter was in the same boat with the bigger 16" bike.
  5. Heard that 2 cyclist were hit by cars because there wasn't full road closure. Hope they are ok. Friend of mine did it and was stopped 4 times on the bike by Marshall's. She did'nt seem very impressed from what I understand.
  6. Frame looks more like a 60 to 61cm. (just my size). Yup the levers are 100% correct. Bars had a very different curve to them. It's turned out really nice. Well done.
  7. These bikes have to have the most unique paintwork and lug sets around. I love them, wish I had one.
  8. Ok so the rest of the pictures I promised.
  9. I live in Pinetown Sorry not for me to reply to. Ignore..
  10. Yeah sorry I should have. It's always best to use a high tensile cap screw/bolt when there are excessive forces or high frequency usage. I have used this particular tool 3 or 4 times over the last 4 years. As you can see no signs of wear.
  11. The cap screw I used is a high tensile 12.9 grade. More than adequate for this application. The rivnut is designed to "collapse". It basically causes a "bulge" when you tighten the nut up. A proper rivnut tool is the answer if you going to use it everyday and all day. But for the once or twice in a few years the diy tool is cheap and very effective.
  12. Glad you got it out. I will post better pictures tomorrow when I get to work. It's dead simple and shouldn't cost more than R5 for the tool and the rivnut.
  13. Try get hold of a shop that sells Shimano shoes. Shimano do a shoe that is custom fitted to your foot. They lliterally microwave the shoe then vacuum it onto your foot. I would say for a foot your size that would be worth a shot.
  14. I agree, for now some feedback on if it's even worth it, how many guys have old bikes and how many would bring them out. I suspect there are a lot of guys out there with old bikes. It would be a massive task to organise everything and to officially call it L'Eroica may not be possible. Could be licensing issues. Don't want to step out of line. So there is a lot of homework that has to be done.
  15. Some nice ideas. Keep the suggestions coming. I like the crit idea. Always good for spectators.
  16. Side view
  17. Break down of parts Sorry my phone won't load that picture. Will have to post from my laptop.
  18. Ok I finally remember to post pics of my home made rivnut tool. Pretty simple. Small aluminium flat bar. Drill appropriately sized hole, rivnut, capscrew and a nut.
  19. I don't know how to edit this post to have the pole options showing.. Help anyone..
  20. A few hubbers and I have been chatting about a Classic/Vintage road bike get together. With all the new interest in older road bikes, and myself and a few of the guys being vintage nuts, we thought it might be nice to see all these old classics together in one place. Italy and now the UK have these events(See Links), so why not look at something here. Right now all we are trying to do is get an idea if there is enough interest for such an event. www.eroicafan.it www.eroicabritannia.co.uk We would look at 2 or 3 distance options. The venue would need to be fairly centre for everyone, with enough accommodation, we have an idea of a venue with quite roads. Feel free to make suggestions or comments.
  21. Thats a brilliant idea. There has to be loads of guys who have pre-90's bikes. Maybe we should chat about it. I will PM a few of you and we can throw some ideas around.
  22. No hassle, I will take a picture tonight and post it.
  23. Seems like you will probably have to break/damage your bottle cage. I have had this issue on an Aluminium Cannondale. Try wedging a screwdriver between the bottle cage and flange of the rivnut. This may give enough grip to unscrew the capscrew. Then you could just tighten up the rivnut with a rivnut tool, or if it is damaged, drill it out and replace with a new one. The cost about R1 or so from places like BMG. I made my own tool, piece of flat bar, a cap screw (M5 I think it was), and a normal nut. Its a piece of cake to install them.
  24. R4000 seems too much. Yeah those look like decals, it should be engraved. I would say that between R2000 and R2500 would be the price the Delta's would sell for
  25. Very nice. Thats a massive drop on that bar. I like the blue. Open 4CD's prbably the best wheel I have ever owned and ridden on.
