  1. Glad you got it out. I will post better pictures tomorrow when I get to work. It's dead simple and shouldn't cost more than R5 for the tool and the rivnut.
  2. Try get hold of a shop that sells Shimano shoes. Shimano do a shoe that is custom fitted to your foot. They lliterally microwave the shoe then vacuum it onto your foot. I would say for a foot your size that would be worth a shot.
  3. I agree, for now some feedback on if it's even worth it, how many guys have old bikes and how many would bring them out. I suspect there are a lot of guys out there with old bikes. It would be a massive task to organise everything and to officially call it L'Eroica may not be possible. Could be licensing issues. Don't want to step out of line. So there is a lot of homework that has to be done.
  4. Some nice ideas. Keep the suggestions coming. I like the crit idea. Always good for spectators.
  5. Side view
  6. Break down of parts Sorry my phone won't load that picture. Will have to post from my laptop.
  7. Ok I finally remember to post pics of my home made rivnut tool. Pretty simple. Small aluminium flat bar. Drill appropriately sized hole, rivnut, capscrew and a nut.
  8. I don't know how to edit this post to have the pole options showing.. Help anyone..
  9. A few hubbers and I have been chatting about a Classic/Vintage road bike get together. With all the new interest in older road bikes, and myself and a few of the guys being vintage nuts, we thought it might be nice to see all these old classics together in one place. Italy and now the UK have these events(See Links), so why not look at something here. Right now all we are trying to do is get an idea if there is enough interest for such an event. www.eroicafan.it www.eroicabritannia.co.uk We would look at 2 or 3 distance options. The venue would need to be fairly centre for everyone, with enough accommodation, we have an idea of a venue with quite roads. Feel free to make suggestions or comments.
  10. Thats a brilliant idea. There has to be loads of guys who have pre-90's bikes. Maybe we should chat about it. I will PM a few of you and we can throw some ideas around.
  11. No hassle, I will take a picture tonight and post it.
  12. Seems like you will probably have to break/damage your bottle cage. I have had this issue on an Aluminium Cannondale. Try wedging a screwdriver between the bottle cage and flange of the rivnut. This may give enough grip to unscrew the capscrew. Then you could just tighten up the rivnut with a rivnut tool, or if it is damaged, drill it out and replace with a new one. The cost about R1 or so from places like BMG. I made my own tool, piece of flat bar, a cap screw (M5 I think it was), and a normal nut. Its a piece of cake to install them.
  13. R4000 seems too much. Yeah those look like decals, it should be engraved. I would say that between R2000 and R2500 would be the price the Delta's would sell for
  14. Very nice. Thats a massive drop on that bar. I like the blue. Open 4CD's prbably the best wheel I have ever owned and ridden on.
  15. Damn pics came up after I posted.
  16. Lets see some pictures... The Vitus was anodised so not easy to repair if scratched.
  17. Hows about some pictures of that bike..
  18. For those who may be interested in "original" replacement decals. cyclomondo.net/ . The guys name is Greg Softly, he has a massive collection of vintage bikes, and owns the oldest recorded Colnago. He manufactures authentic replacement decals. I have bought 2 sets for my Colnago's and they are very good quality.
  19. Very nice. Ja not sure is a Mexico. Wish pictures were bigger. Paint jobs are always so nice on Colnago's.
  20. Good point on the tubing. Columbus SL or SLX and you got yourself a pro level frame. Anything below and it's midrange. I would say depending on what you buy it for it may be worth a repaint. But please do lots of research and make sure you can get really good decals to replace those ones. Before you get carried away with taking paint off, take loads of pictures with decal placement measurements etc. To keep the value as high as possible, it needs to be 100% accurate. Give it a real good clean and polish and service before you decide to strip and repaint.
  21. Sad news. Hard to keep up with the modern carbon/moulded bikes. The ones who survive will command high prices for hand built steel frames...
  22. Good advice on pricing. Yeah 600 came out with Bio-Pace but those cranks and groupset are 600EX, I think Bio-Pace only started with the Tricolour (Levers on the bike). 600EX carries some value for sure, but Campy is still king.
  23. Thats a hard one. Its an Italian bike with Japanese components. They great components, just don't know enough about this particular bike and what it originally came with. Looks like the groupset is 600EX, but the levers are 600 Tricolour. I would say the levers don't match the rest of the groupset. Maybe someone who has more knowledge can assist. Offer R2000.00 and see what the response is. Its a start.
  24. Looks pretty good. Shimano 600, pre Aero Levers so probably around '86/'87 or so, I think. I see it has the Bio-Pace chainrings, not sure if those came out with this groupset. I may be wrong. Viner are good frames. I would say if you can get it for a fair price its worth a restore. Although it doesnt look bad for the age. I reckon a good clean and some polish and she will look ok.
  25. This looks very nice, nothing extremely special, but looks original and in great condition.
