  1. Yip, Cannondale the only bike for really tall guys IMO. Depending on what you want to spend, I would say the CAAD 10 is great value for money. I am 1.87 meters with a 91cm inseam and I have ridden my CAD 3 for the last 13 or so years and not 1 issue. I have found I cant ride the new "compact" geometry frames, they just don't suit my build. Also guys our height generally aren't the lightweights in the bunch either and Cannondale is nice and strong. When you do buy make sure you get a nice strong set of wheels, 36 hole, build on really good rims.
  2. What happened to the days of getting onto the only bike available and riding the hell out of it. We so consumed by all this tech and marketing hype, its like we forgetting to ride the damn bike.
  3. Fizik Arione on my race bike and a Selle San Marco Rolls on my classic bike (the most comfortable saddle I have ever ridden)
  4. I ride up to 3 hrs on just water, have done so for the past 20 or so years I have been riding for. Anything over 3 hrs I train and race on red grape juice, mixed half with water and a pinch of salt. Salt takes the sweet taste away and also helps with faster absorbsion. Never had an issue is all the years. I have spoken to 2 dietitians about red grape juice versus the fancy energy drinks, both say it's as good. I would say 4 to 5 HR rides you may need at the very least some electrolyte replenishment.
  5. Awesome event, glad to see it back on the calender. Been around for about 15 or so years, possibly even longer. Steady climb for the first 40km, quite a lot of tempo type climbs, no really massive mountains. Then turn around and all hell breaks loose at high sound there is little to no wind it's a super fast 40km. I am to be corrected but the record is around 1h 57 set by Jason Ormston and Aldon Baker back in the 90's.... So it's a fast race if the weather is good. Burg wheelers put on a good event.
  6. Speak to Glenzito here on the hub, he has quite a lot of old Shimano components. He may be able to help you out.
  7. Very nice. I think the Decals look very good. My feeling is take it back to original, even if it looks too much, original is always best. Thats a very good looking frame. Very nice job. Well done
  8. Absolute Legend IMO
  9. Some very nice artwork
  10. If they cold, coke ever time.. Because you have earned it. If luke warm, water... Cause the others taste bad warm.
  11. Gee dude... Looks hectic.. Fast recovery. Will you have full used of it once it's repaired. Looks really bad.
  12. Remember seeing a white car like this at a Durban motor show when I was about 13 years old and always remembered looking at the wheels and wondering what Campagnolo was. This was before I started cycling...

  15. What on earth is that, looks like a hand amputation. What happened?
  16. Ah geez and she is my size too...
  17. I think the idea of having one of the larger local events have a "classic" bunch is brilliant. It's one way of getting the movement going without having to organise a special event just for classic bikes.
  18. I ride a cannondale as well and have rebuilt my old 525 hansom with original groupset. I has down tube shifters, and I just love the bike. Much nicer to ride than my 'dale. Can't beat the ride quality of good steel.
  19. +1 531 is just about the best you could get and it's still great to ride. It's right up there with Columbus SLX tubing. Both legendary tube sets..
  20. So do I... Show us some pics of it...please. I will take pics of mine this weekend..
  21. Please share... Interested in how it was solved
  22. I think because its a road bike the rear isn't centre to the BB. You may have to either offset the rear hub if possible and re-dish the rim, or extreme case have the rear "cold set". Not sure the "flip-flop" hub is going to do the trick....
  23. Looking good. Nice crank. Those "Ergo" bars look a little out of place on your build. You need a track or even a criterium bar. Just my thoughts, hope I haven't offended.
  24. Powder coating you dont really have to worry about the surface finish of the rim and hub, whereas anodizing it basically colours the existing surface. So if its not smooth and shiny it will keep the same finish. If its nicely polished then you will get a much better quality looking finish. Guess it depends on what you really wanting and how hard wearing it needs to be.
  25. I am 1.87cm tall with a out of proportion body, long legs and arms(91cm Inseam) and I always ride an XL mtb frame (20.5" or 21"). 19" and my seat post is ridiculously long.
