  1. Damn pics came up after I posted.
  2. Lets see some pictures... The Vitus was anodised so not easy to repair if scratched.
  3. Hows about some pictures of that bike..
  4. For those who may be interested in "original" replacement decals. cyclomondo.net/ . The guys name is Greg Softly, he has a massive collection of vintage bikes, and owns the oldest recorded Colnago. He manufactures authentic replacement decals. I have bought 2 sets for my Colnago's and they are very good quality.
  5. Very nice. Ja not sure is a Mexico. Wish pictures were bigger. Paint jobs are always so nice on Colnago's.
  6. Good point on the tubing. Columbus SL or SLX and you got yourself a pro level frame. Anything below and it's midrange. I would say depending on what you buy it for it may be worth a repaint. But please do lots of research and make sure you can get really good decals to replace those ones. Before you get carried away with taking paint off, take loads of pictures with decal placement measurements etc. To keep the value as high as possible, it needs to be 100% accurate. Give it a real good clean and polish and service before you decide to strip and repaint.
  7. Sad news. Hard to keep up with the modern carbon/moulded bikes. The ones who survive will command high prices for hand built steel frames...
  8. Good advice on pricing. Yeah 600 came out with Bio-Pace but those cranks and groupset are 600EX, I think Bio-Pace only started with the Tricolour (Levers on the bike). 600EX carries some value for sure, but Campy is still king.
  9. Thats a hard one. Its an Italian bike with Japanese components. They great components, just don't know enough about this particular bike and what it originally came with. Looks like the groupset is 600EX, but the levers are 600 Tricolour. I would say the levers don't match the rest of the groupset. Maybe someone who has more knowledge can assist. Offer R2000.00 and see what the response is. Its a start.
  10. Looks pretty good. Shimano 600, pre Aero Levers so probably around '86/'87 or so, I think. I see it has the Bio-Pace chainrings, not sure if those came out with this groupset. I may be wrong. Viner are good frames. I would say if you can get it for a fair price its worth a restore. Although it doesnt look bad for the age. I reckon a good clean and some polish and she will look ok.
  11. This looks very nice, nothing extremely special, but looks original and in great condition.
  12. A picture would be nice
  13. 30% on shoes and 40% on clothing.
  14. Its great to see an open channel of communication. I believe that with rider input and Organisers open to constructive criticism this event can only get bigger and better. Well done Ladies.
  15. With a bit, well a lot of practice you can stand, ride with no hands, etc.
  16. Used rollers when I was a lighty, then bought an IDT, just sold it and bought rollers again. Much more stimulating to ride. The bike feels normal and "live" as opposed to the rigid feel on the IDT.
  17. Damn that's powerful stuff. Thanks for the post.
  18. Yes my father had the frame in the garage all these years. I got the same 105 "Blue" groupset off a donor bike. Was very tempted to ride Amashova on it last weekend, as it was the bike I rode my 1st Shova on and this years Shova was my 22nd. But didn't have enough time on the bike to make sure set-up was ok. Wish this body could ride like that again...LOL
  19. Yeah that doesn't sound right at all. I have a set of Rubino Pro's on a set of wheels I have, guess they have been on for more that 3 years not a days hassle.
  20. Nearly complete, I collect the correct front wheel today, had it respoked. 100% original as I received it in 1990 for my 16th Birthday.
  21. Try Ebay, they have a lot of NOS hoods and parts. Shop around as some guys prices are a bit off. Nice bike by the way...
  22. I come from a road and hardtail background too, I now ride a dual sus mtb. Want to go back to hardtail. I have ridden the bike for 3 years and still cant get used to the "disconnected" feeling of the rear. The Giant has a great reputation, but i would say Spez is ahead of the curve, but you pay for it.
  23. Vittoria Diamante Pro, or 1 better Vittoria Open Corsa
  24. I have seen an increase in the prices from CRC. Myself and a colleague have been using Merlin Cycles and their prices have been better. Also when they have specials, no one can beat them. Bike parts are free from Import duties, but SA Vat does apply.
  25. What model is it? I have a M210 on my Merida and the same thing happened. Took it off and let all the air out, the outer canister unscrews very easily. When to BMG and bought 2 quad seals (one to use, and one for a spare) for R10.00. Lubed outer chamber and seal and re-assembled. Took me my 15 min tea time at work to do the service. Rode it like that at Sani2C and its still 100%.
