  1. A picture would be nice
  2. 30% on shoes and 40% on clothing.
  3. Its great to see an open channel of communication. I believe that with rider input and Organisers open to constructive criticism this event can only get bigger and better. Well done Ladies.
  4. With a bit, well a lot of practice you can stand, ride with no hands, etc.
  5. Used rollers when I was a lighty, then bought an IDT, just sold it and bought rollers again. Much more stimulating to ride. The bike feels normal and "live" as opposed to the rigid feel on the IDT.
  6. Damn that's powerful stuff. Thanks for the post.
  7. Yes my father had the frame in the garage all these years. I got the same 105 "Blue" groupset off a donor bike. Was very tempted to ride Amashova on it last weekend, as it was the bike I rode my 1st Shova on and this years Shova was my 22nd. But didn't have enough time on the bike to make sure set-up was ok. Wish this body could ride like that again...LOL
  8. Yeah that doesn't sound right at all. I have a set of Rubino Pro's on a set of wheels I have, guess they have been on for more that 3 years not a days hassle.
  9. Nearly complete, I collect the correct front wheel today, had it respoked. 100% original as I received it in 1990 for my 16th Birthday.
  10. Try Ebay, they have a lot of NOS hoods and parts. Shop around as some guys prices are a bit off. Nice bike by the way...
  11. I come from a road and hardtail background too, I now ride a dual sus mtb. Want to go back to hardtail. I have ridden the bike for 3 years and still cant get used to the "disconnected" feeling of the rear. The Giant has a great reputation, but i would say Spez is ahead of the curve, but you pay for it.
  12. Vittoria Diamante Pro, or 1 better Vittoria Open Corsa
  13. I have seen an increase in the prices from CRC. Myself and a colleague have been using Merlin Cycles and their prices have been better. Also when they have specials, no one can beat them. Bike parts are free from Import duties, but SA Vat does apply.
  14. What model is it? I have a M210 on my Merida and the same thing happened. Took it off and let all the air out, the outer canister unscrews very easily. When to BMG and bought 2 quad seals (one to use, and one for a spare) for R10.00. Lubed outer chamber and seal and re-assembled. Took me my 15 min tea time at work to do the service. Rode it like that at Sani2C and its still 100%.
  15. I am under correction but I think around the 7K mark. 2012 Complete bike with Ultegra and FSA SLK Carbon Crank a few months ago at LBS here in Durban was going for around 21K.
  16. I would say if you running around the 85kg mark and want a 60cm frame, Cannondale would be at the top of my list. The CAAD 10 frame is probably lighter than most mid range carbon frames. Its a brilliant frame at a great price. I hear you about wanting Carbon, but IMO the CAAD 10 for your weight and height would be the bomb. I weigh 90 odd kg's and am 6foot 2". Havent had a days hassle with my 14 year old CAAD 3.
  17. That there is a piece of racing history. Forgot about those crazy Scott "Drop-in" bars... And those Time pedals were the pedals to have. Good memories, Nice one..

    Amashova 2013

Well done to everyone, was definitely one of the hardest Amashova's in a while. Cold and windy, saw a lot more accidents this year mainly because of cross winds and big bunches. Rode 2.59.07, was very happy with a sub 3 in that weather.... And guess what, today is a stunning day in Durban...

    Amashova 2013

Starting A batch. Will be wearing Bring it on club kit and riding a Matt Black/Green/white Cannondale.
  20. They sell directly from their website only and do not ship to SA. Real pity, they have some nice bikes.
  21. Nice. Just seen Columbus are doing XCr Stainless tubing that can be lugged. Reckon that would be an awesome build, specially for us along the coast line. Excited about the new grades of steel available.
  22. What steel has been used for the build?
  23. For me its a bit of nostalgia, I come from the late '80's and school boy road racing. We all rode steel, so I guess I hang onto that a little. I also like the idea that steel is hand made, by a skilled artisan who has a passion for what he does. In a world of mass produced goods from places like China, I just like that there are still people out there that have the skill and passion. Also love the detail of steel, specially lugged frames, no Carbon or Aluminium can do that.
  24. Awesome to see Steel frames being made in SA again. I come from an Era when we only had SA built steel available to buy. Wishing them all the best. May even be tempted to add a "modern" SA built steel bike to my collection.
  25. Yeah agree, save up and rather buy something like Easton EA 70 or EA 90's. Use them as race wheels, this way your existing wheels can take the damage and wear caused by training. The Shimano's would be a backwards move IMO.
