  1. Thing is it is 03h30 by us, but 14h30 on the oil rig in Europe............ Well written post, I do believe many sellers fall in the "silly" category. Too much sentimental value, although sometimes that is linked to over paying or being an early adopter and just paying too much for the bike. Then you are in a position where you try to recoup as much as possible and price the item too high.
  2. With an equally eye-watering price........
  3. There are some funny dealerships though. Recently bought a bike, but was very interested in a bike from a dealership. Looked at it and was ready to do a deal. "Oh but you must pay a R1500 admin fee, and then we don't do roadworthy or registration." It would have been nice to know this upfront I said, so how much to register it? "Well if we register it you have to take a service by our garage, a 2 year warranty plan and then we will register it. R11k for the warranty, R3500 for the registration plus the original R1500 admin fee." Cheers Christo, you guys are crazy!! I did end up buying from a dealership, could get the same model and mileage bike from a private sale for R3k cheaper but worried about money to an unknown individual. SO purely for safety, similar to the Hub Pay setup, I paid more for peace of mind. I did not get a warranty, still had to roadworthy and register myself too.

  5. That is what it is all about, and happy to hear you are using it. They are lovely bikes these 2T's but they need lots of love, perfect if you enjoy fiddling. I am over those days though. They are heavy on fuel, used to get the same fuel consumption on my old YPVS as my TL1000R with huge performance disparity. I know which I would rather ride right now if given the choice..... I have a FB acquaintance who bought up about 6 RD350 LC's some time ago. Just sitting on them as an investment. Seems a waste firstly, secondly when the price bubble bursts (and it will 14kGBP is crazy for that bike) it will be a struggle to sell them. Reminds me of the peole in Pretoria who planted palm tree's as they heard Sol was buying them up for Sun City. Now they are paying big bucks to get them removed from properties......
  6. What jacket is that, looks nice. I have DBX 5.0 which I love but it can get pretty warm after a whiles wearing with no cold wind around.....
  7. For sure. If you can get the right one, in the right condition and at the right time for demand then they are good investments. Getting those three things right is the trick. But nostalgia, I suppose you should think about how much freedom a Nokia 3310 brought, endless games of snake but nobody is running back to them. My RD350 was amazing, but 15-18yrs later it was just meh, especially when compared to more modern machinery that actually stop, turn and don't need you ride with spare plugs or 2T oil......
  8. The bubble will burst eventually and a lot of people are going to get burnt. That's just my uneducated opinion of course, but this seems to be a universal thing.
  9. People paying a lot of money for nostalgia, to realize it wasn't all that great when compared to whats available today. Not a dig at you, just a general statement.
  10. No worries, per chance saw it on FB. Lots of money spent with lots of custom parts, but R205k is a bit much for that bike.....
  11. Looks like Alex took a bad tumble and may have broken his foot....
  12. Very nice but they over capitalized. price they want is way too much, IMO.
  13. Really like that colour, repainted or standard?
  14. That is pretty much the whole bike!!!
  15. I really enjoyed the Alexander trail hike. Maybe because it was the last with my late wife but walking for hours over the dunes to get to the beach, finding Nautilus shells, the beautiful cabin. It was magical. Also enjoyed the Harkerville hiking routes, again beautiful views and cabins were always neat and clean.
  16. All the slack you were expecting leaked out of the holes, along with your dignity......
  17. I 100% agree with you, but equally I believe Sainz is just as good as le Clerc but has to date not had the car to show it. Really hope he comes flying out the gate.
  18. Gets awkward if Sainz starts beating le Clerc......
  19. Saw pictures of him chatting with Eskil. Would also love to hear, wonder how KTM see's those types of rides. Very risky. I see Kallio broke his leg in an ice race, very silly!!
  20. Is that your potential winnings!!!!
  21. In the video they discuss that the strategy was for Small to stand wide and drive Lomu in-field, towards the support. James did well, it was when they were young but Lomu had almost 10yrs on James age wise. Wonder how those hits to their body impacted their relatively early demise? Similar to boxing I would imagine.
  22. Excited to see what Seb can do this year. He seems energized, team principle (name escapes me) talking him up too. Saying how much smoother he is than Perez. Really hope he is competitive, might even watch a F1 race again...... Edit: from the pictures it seems they are basically running the factory cars from last year.
  23. Lots of footage of a Suter 500 V4 2T that was tested by Rob Portman at RSR this week. What a beautiful, R2mil piece of kit!!!
  24. Agree but where will the titles come from in the future? Surely you equip the strongest chance with the "best" equipment. In this case they may just be doing that anyways....... See Darryn Binder is already beating his teammate in testing, first time out.
