  1. Half marathon entry up for grabs, I hurt my calf on Saturday
  2. I only got back on the bike this week after 2 months off, so its the 40 for me
  3. Fair amount of climbing that. I am not looking forward to day 3
  4. I run Ground Control 2.3 front and back. They were definitely a bit all over the place until I hit the pressure sweet spot. I am 73kg and found front 1.5 bar and rear 1.8 bar gives awesome grip in the corners. I have nothing but respect for these tires. I have put them through a lot.
  5. I use Grippp gloves, they stay cool and are very comfortable.
  6. 4:20 on my anthem with knobs, but I got sick before the race so didn't train much the last month and a half. I will definitely be back on the knobs next year trying for a sub 3:30
  7. A couple of things really. Firstly the ETA movement is well known and can be serviced by any good watch maker. I also spent quite a bit of time over at the watchuseek forum going over the workmanship they put into their watches. And now actually wearing it I am not disappointed at all. I am also getting their ocean 1 as soon as stock is available. There are actually a few watches around with a similar price point if you are prepared to shop around, but I felt that this was the best value for money, I also liked how easy it was to order since you can buy directly from them.
  8. I got my rack on a Thursday, went and got a number plate made the same day and was pulled over on the Saturday for an inspection by the metro cops. Saved myself R1000 or a bribe. R150 well spent on a number plate
  9. I just went through the exercise, you only pay VAT on watches.
  10. Arrived this afternoon. I am also thinking of ordering their Ocean 1 Black GMT
  11. Thanks to all the people on this thread I went ahead and bought something I didn't need. The wife thinks that the hub is a bad influence on my bank balance, and I am starting to agree
  12. You think race seedings are a problem in SA, try maintaining a golf handicap
  13. I really enjoyed the half today. The 10 minute batch separations seems to have done the trick, I had absolutely no traffic. My only problem was the heat, I didn't expect it to get that hot on the concrete strips. But definitely the best of the trailseekers by far this year. See you all again next year

  15. I managed to sneak into the B batch for this one. I don't think I will ever understand how saseeding work out seedings not that I am complaining this time.
  16. Just an update. The bike shop replaced the crank arm this morning without any hassles.
  17. Those are not scratches, what you see there is the screw threads disintegrating and coming out the pedal hole. I saw the final product yesterday and you can now push the pedal all the way in without it touching sides
  18. I am sure it was a case of over tightening. Lets just say I bought the same bike on the same day from the same shop and I had to take my bike back to get the 505s removed. I then put new pedals on myself with an allen key and not a spanner inside a pipe which is clearly what they used...
  19. Thanks Johan , I tried sending you a PM but it didn't go through. Please send me your email address so that I can arrange with you. jacques at ispace.co.za EDIT: Scratch that I got it off your website.
  20. Thanks V12man I will pass on his details. I hope he can get it sorted before next weekend's trailseeker, otherwise a hard race is going to be even harder with only one pedal Good to know that he can always just order one arm if required.
  21. A friend of mine sent me a picture of his stripped crank arm this morning, not pretty on a two week old bike. Does anyone know of a shop in Joburg where he can get a helicoil put in? From the bit of research I have done it needs a special type of helicoil. His only other alternative it to try and get a new left arm but that seems like a long shot.
  22. I just got back from the Netherlands yesterday. I never ever ride without a helmet in SA, and I just realised the whole time I was over there I didn't once wear one... I also never felt in any danger. I must however say that I was very thankful for the flat roads, I have am no stranger to heavy bikes but I am convinced that the Dutch bikes are made out of lead. Man those things are heavy.
  23. I have also just stumbled onto it. As if it's not bad enough that just about every channel on DSTV now has some kind of reality gold rush show, now they are tearing up the amazon as well
  24. This happened to me, except the other vehicle was a tree and not a car. I ended up with a fractured pelvis and nerve damage, wondering how I ended up lying on the pavement next to my car. I definitely should have been wearing a seatbelt...
