  1. You will need to measure it - search for it here, Mr Bornman has posted the method as have others.
  2. Good Lord onetime, I aint gonna read all that so I will wait for the condensed version, like one paragraph.
  3. Its interesting how SA has never got involved in producing frames to the mass market. I am not necessarily talking here about high end bikes, but just low end consumer and commuter bikes, which have a high demand value here. I dont believe we dont have the technology to do so, I know of engineering companies who do TIG welding on a daily basis for very specialist operations - certainly a bicycle frame is well within their capabilities. Certainly, I know of engineering companies who manufacture highly specialised products here in high demand in Germany and the USA. Now, I understand all the cost / number production issues etc, but export freight from SA is cheap compared to import freight from Asia, so we have the possibility of still been competitive to a mass end user.

Ha, no need, he has already exhausted all of the above excuses, we are just awaiting the "wanna comeback that failed" outcome.

I knew what you were refering to bud, I just wanted clarity on the "dope" bit, but I stand by my statement, its my opinion. There will never be consensus regarding LA, (except to state the obvious that he is getting grey hair), some like him some hate him, some dont care, its a fruitless argument on any site actually and has been raging on umteen blogs since 99. personally, I think there are more interesting and better athletes in todays peleton than LA ever was or will be, the world has moved on since he was king pin, living on borrowed time and yesterdays dreams.!

I think its a lot tougher to make a comeback at 37' date=' after breaking your collarbone jakkity jak.... [/quote'] Thats his problem. Nobody forced him to attempt a come back, he did so of his own free will. I would have no issue if he just kept his ego in check and came and rode the race, but NO, he has to blow his trumpet wherever he gos, he thought he would pitch up and everyone would fall over themselves because he graced the Giro with his presence - well he got a rude awakening, he is not the Alpha and Omega of the cycling world anymore. porky2009-05-13 12:18:14

Armstrong appears to have a short memory, for years he bashed the Giro, the route is easy, the speeds are slow etc - guess he may have to reconsider.!

I dont believe he was bluffing for a minute. He was blown out the back fair and square, he would have lost 10 minutes not three if the whole of Astana (bar Leipheimer and Horner) hadnt gone back to fetch him. Without a team to protect him he is simply average. If you come into these races blowing your horn about how you are going to "Help" Leipheimer to victory, best you stay with Leipheimer, cant help him much 3 minutes back down the road. Twit.! Anyway, Basso and Di Luca showed who is boss today, absolute class.!
  13. Ag, I dont even let them occupy more than a minute of my mental time. Not worth the effort.
  14. Hmm, I find the discussion quite interesting. Last time I had my wheels trued, the shop told me they only used a spoke tension meter (or something similar, I cant remember the exact word) which ensured all the spokes were tensioned correctly, - I was quite surprised because I wondered how it could work, although I never had the time to ask. It seemed like a bit of hocus pokus to me, but I wondered if there is any merit in having your wheels trued and the spokes checked with this method Johan? - dos it even work.?
  15. On another point, "how come some wheels just never go out of true, let alone break spokes??. I have a set of VELOMAX wheels I used for years and years, I rode them constantly, bounced over pot holes, raced on them and they never once even went out of true, in fact they are still perfect (although they are here in the cupboard now) - yet some wheels just need trueing every few months.??
  16. Good grief,................its just going from bad to worse.
  17. Gee, Swiss, I am disappointed, any self respecting Saffa would have nicked that power unit and carried it home by now.!! You been living there too long - you've become "Honest"
  18. haha, Yeah, but its usual on weekends with RAI - soccer is much more popular than cycling, so on weekends gets the air time. Never mind, been typical Italians, they will soon break for lunch.
  19. I think its 403' date=' but if you using a PVR you have to go to the international boutiques first. [/quote'] Its channel "430" but when you click on the DSTV specialist boutique, you just need to flick around.
  20. I see the RAI channel lists it as been scheduled, so I guess we just will have to watch and see what happens - this is an Italian channel and soccer is far more popular than cycling, "so is lunch and dinner", so if they can fit it in between, well, maybe we will see it still. 16:20 92mo Giro d'Italia 1a tappa: Lido di Venezia (crono a squadre) 16:25 92MO GIRO D'ITALIA 1A TAPPA: LIDO DI VENEZIA (CRONO A SQUADRE) If it dosnt show on my big screen plasma, I cant be bothered to sit here and watch it on-line, the quality just makes it "not acceptable".
  21. No racing, and she maybe rides 300kms per MONTH in Summer, much less (like zero) in winter, then she only rides two events a year, the 94.7 and The Argus. Last year she spent so long at the 94.7 halfway point getting a massage, drinking cooldrinks, (even had a sandwich I believe) the marshalls came over and asked her if she knew this was only "half way" and she still has another 50 odd kms to go.! Which brings me back to my original point, she didnt need Gators, why did the shop just assume it was okay to sell them to her.? In my view retail is not just about getting the sale, theres also ethics, you need to find out whats right and appropriate for your customer, not judge the sale by the size of the customers wallet.porky2009-05-09 05:24:02
