  1. Hmmm, generally this rule will apply to cover the manufacturer. The independant distributor may be able to over ride the general rule with some discussion and most likely what CCS did with Samma. I doubt very much if any distributor will cover resprays as a rule of thumb. Personally, I see no merit in re-spraying a frame unless its in sponsors colours, the distributor / manufacturer has no control over the respray process, hense, I really think anyone who dos this must accept their warranty will be voided. I dont think the Manufacturer / distributor can be condemned for applying this rule.
  2. Maybe I was unclear, my referance to the tirade by "zooncronje" was my motivation for my comment on a "childish outburst". I personally dont see you in a bad light at all, to me it appears to be a case of delaying tactics somewhere, going overseas, going to hospital, missing each other, doing this, get back to you later............................! If there is a dispute over payment, it needs to be addressed and confronted, from what I read Tiger has put his case forward on many occassion, BUT, there has been no response from DCM Chromes side as to their possible reason for witholding the funds. That is also unfair to Tiger, DCM should make their case known (not necessarily here) but to Tiger, and give him the opportunity to sort it out or come to an agreement. The silent treatment is also not acceptable. Take my advice and stay away from the courts if you ever wish to work for or do business with them again, if you go the legal route you burn all bridges, and just opens the door to all sorts of legal wrangeling which will end up costing you money, time, effort and patience. Court is the absolutely last resource you want to get involved in.
  3. Down to earth and honest too I hear. In his book says that all the riders used dope which we all know is true.....Hope he recovers fully to continue his passion for golf!!! did lemond ever admit to doping? it's something i've been thinking about the last coupla days. especially with his ongoing feud with lance. No,I can't ever remember reading that he did admit to doping. Shame, not an easy form of cancer to get over either, theres a very high mortality rate with stomach cancer - one can only pray. porky2009-06-14 05:07:28
  4. My bike was recently serviced, - R1299.00 for an ULTEGRA 10 speed rear cluster, Ultegra 10 spd chain R480.00 - this EXCLUDES the labour to fit them. A prime reason I only buy my requirements internationally, I have to say, I also dont see prices here even in close comparison.
  5. Hmm. I was also in Linksfield for my fusions' date=' both lumbar and cervical, done by Dr Weinberg. I think he owes me a "good customer discount " As far as I know Linksfield is one of the few specialist hospitals for spinal injury, I really looked around for my cervical procedure but no other facility, in my opinion, came close to Linsfield dedicated spinal injury unit. I have artificial discs between L4 / L5 and between c4/ c5 / c6 - absolutely no side effects and since the op I have run 2 comrades, a few 2 Oceans marathons, and various bike races as well as doing everything I did before - 100% recovery. Actually, they are very successfull surgical procedures, and today you get a sort of swivel which they can use in place of artificial discs so you regain almost full movement, (although some medical aids wont pay for it as its a bit more expensive) which is the only real issue of artificial discs (the slight loss of movement.) [/quote'] What was wrong with you to have the op ? Mean side effects except the back pain ? My issue is not the lower back - more the stabbing pain in my legs Pain in the legs CAN (not always obviously) be caused by a traped nerve in the lower Lumbar spine. You need not have any back pain to have lumbar nerve inpingement as the pain manifests itself in differant areas. My lumbar fusion was due to collapsed discs which caused the nerves to be trapped between the spinal column - I had absolutely no back pain, only pain in my left leg which manifested itself on the inner thigh. It started with stabbing pain and a bit of lamness, but over the period of say 6 months it became so intense and debilitating that I could not even press down on the clutch pedal in my car. My cervical injury was caused by an accident.
  6. Depends on the size and the contents. There is no one (best / safest) courier to fit all applications. Do you need customs clearance or will you attend to it yourself? Do you need delivery to your address or will you collect at the depot? Dos the parcel contain valuable goods (like antiques for eg) in which case you may need specialist advice on insurance.? Is the goods a purchase or private property (like your mum sending back your watch / earings / nose ring / leopard skin trousers - you left there on your vaction).? If you can supply a bit more info, I or possibly many others could advise better.
  7. Good heavens, when I read through the post I got the impression this was a R50,000.00 plus bill, not one of less than R7,000.00! Thats petty cash, really it is, I would imagine there seems to be something else involved here, I really cant see a company of DCM Chromes stature quibbeling over a R7,000.00 bill, unless they had a very good reason to do so, which, for whatever reason, remains undisclosed. In my humble opinion, going the legal route will just ensure payment is NOT forthcoming until a court order (which could go either way remember) and could take quite a while to obtain. Can you not arrange a face to face consultation with the relevant parties?Thrash it out over a coffee and biscuits, even if it requires a cheap air ticket to JHB and car hire for a day, I would say it will be worth it. As for the smoke screens about sponsorships etc, thats just childish, these decisions are made by impartial and hardened business execuctives without any axe to grind. They make decisions based on sound business principles, which are researched and proven, not childish and petty smoke screens about "peoples careers and benefits to the sport". Just my view, your mileage may differ.! porky2009-06-12 07:32:17

  9. You need to see a neurosurgeon or neurologist as soon as possible. Pain and numbness in the legs can easily come from a pinched nerve in the lumbar spine - you will need to have an MRI scan to see this for cetain, but neurosurgeons can do tests that will pretty much be conclusive, the MRI is just for final analysis. Ask me, I know, I had pretty much the same thing but in the cervical spine which effected my arms - (lumbar spine = legs - cervical spine = arms.). Sometimes traction can help, but go see the neurologist urgently and get an informed opinion, DONT go to a chiropracter or have any kind of manipulation of your spine until you clear it with a neuro - you could easily do more damage. No offense to chiropracters and this is in jest, but I have this bumper sticker on my car - Whats the biggest cause of spinal injury. ? Rugby.! Whats the second biggest cause of spinal injury.? Chiropracters.! porky2009-06-11 04:20:08
  10. Sadly, I think SA is quickly catching up with the first world countries were young folk simply cannot afford to buy property. In the USA today, unless you are very lucky and have a marvellous trust fund, the only way you will own a property is when your parents pass on and leave it to you. Its getting to the point where its not possible for young people to save sufficient money to get a deposit and they need the cash injection from their parents property which they can sell and buy again.
  11. 100% right, just because its a private hospital that charges 200% of std government and Medical Aid tarriff, is no reason to believe the doctors are any better. Its not true. I had an absailing accident, got rushed to the local Medi-clinic where I had the usual x-rays - Doc said I strained my back and sent me home. In agony a day later I went to another hospital and the doc operated that afternoon for a fusion on two levels as the discs were crushed - cost to the medical aid - R80.000.00 PLUS. On the other hand a friend of mine had a heart attack at home, not having Medical aid he got rushed to Jhb Gen, he had a double by pass and was in intensive care for a few days, I visited him and can say I saw nothing untoward, the staff were friendly and helpfull and he said to me he has nothing to complain about, he was well treated. Cost to him a mere R25.00 Go Figure. porky2009-06-11 03:59:23
  12. HaHa, yah, cant argue with that.
  13. I think with the issues at GM lately you are bound to pick up problems in the short term. It dosnt help of course, but it just has to effect a company, and hense the customer, somewhere down the line. Hope it works out for you.
  14. Oooh' date=' that is against the rules. It is a well known fact in training circles that you are only allowed to stop at Fournos if you have performed some kind of physical activity of sufficient intensity to warrant the extra kilojoules. Actually I am just jealous and hoping I can find sufficient warm clothing to allow me to ride tomorrow morning and stop at Fournos. [/quote'] Naa, I had the healthy version, ya gotta ask for it.
  15. Happens bud, ya just gotta go with the punches. Wheres Vaalwater? Windy and cold in Bedfordview as well. Even skipped my morning run in favour of a hot coffee and a chocolate croissant at Fournos.
  16. Willfull damage will always be excluded, as will negligence, for example you leave your bike laying on the driveway overnight and it gets stolen - thats negligence, not gonna pay, or you take a road bike through a BMX track at full tilt and it breaks the frame, thats willfull damage, - not gonna pay, - okay both extreme cases but you will get the idea. You will always be obliged to ensure you take "appropriate" care to prevent loss through theft and take "reasonable" care in usage (ie) only use the bike for the purpose it was intended. So basically an "all risks" policy will cover you for most "natural" eventualities that may arise, providing you can prove you did not willfully damage the product, and cover you for theft providing you took all due precautions to prevent loss, (ie) kept it in a locked garage at night etc.
  17. Yes, usually this will be the case. A bicycle is a reletively high risk item, without a spread of low risk lines (householders) to compensate the insurer, he will be obliged to charge more.
  18. No, not necessarily, maybe just more expensive. You say you dont have other insurance?, perhaps it would be worthwhile to ask your folks or someone if you can include your bike on their household policy, its itemised so you could just pass over the insured value to them monthly if its an issue. Having it on a householders policy gives you a better rate and leverage with the insurer, think about it, were you an insurer would you rather insure a high risk item like a bike only, or include the bike in a low risk policy including house contents, fire, etc - this spreads the risk a bit for them and they generally offer a better premium.
  19. Thats cool. .............I think thats a terrific gesture from Fox. Serious about service.
